Rodrigo Ibarra Bowman; stolen valor fraud

| March 20, 2018

Earlier this year, Rodrigo Ibarra Bowman was charged with defrauding a customer who had a flat tire. Bowman worked for Riggs Roadside Assistance and Tires Plus in Mankato, Minnesota. After Bowman took care of the customer’s tire, he kept the credit card number and used it to have work done on his own vehicle. The customer was surprised to see his $285 bill jump to more than $2000. So, Bowman was charged with felony credit card fraud.

On further scrutiny, it was discovered that Bowman went to the local Veterans’ Services office pretending to be a Marine;

According to the complaint, Rodrigo Ibarra Bowman was wearing a U.S. Marine Corps ring when went to the Blue Earth County Veteran’s Service Office last year seeking assistance. Police say Bowman claimed that he had served three combat tours in Iraq and he boasted of being involved in secret, dark ops missions during his service as a Marine.

During the visit, Bowman applied for help from the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. As part of that process, he was immediately given a $50 gift card for fuel.

Authorities checked with the Marine Corps and they had no record of him ever being enlisted.

I hear that there’s room under the jail for him.

Scumbag toad. Not man enough to be a Marine but enough of a scumbag to steal valor and pretend to be one. I’m sure he will blame the credit card theft on a ‘misunderstanding’ and the PTSD he caught during his imaginary combat tours. Bottom feeder …

It strongly appears that Bowman was not an employee of the tire company, although employees at the shop knew him. Here’s the complaint.

Bowman is a dirt ball with a history of fraud and attempted fraud. At 33, he has a bright and promising future, I’m sure.

I’m sure that Bubba & Thor will give him a good test drive before they auction him off to someone else in their cellblock.

Credit card fraud just gets worse and worse. Most people are honest but there’s always that one rat in the woodpile.

I never understand criminals
He added $1,715 to a customers credit card bill
How did he expect to get away with that?
I might let $15 slide as some kind of mistake
But over $1,700?
Criminals may be stupid. That is a lot of money
Did he expect the customer not to notice?

I’m thinking he figured the charge would be discovered, but he would probably only get probation and restitution. Restitution? He knew he would never repay the bucks and knew there was no way the police could make him do so. This would go down as a ‘charge off’ by the cc company. Seems like a lot of money, and it is, but it is miniscule to the cc company. They get roughly between 2% – 4% of each transaction. They honestly make so much money in these ‘small’ charges that the $55 loss is almost of no significance to them. Speaking of charge off, last year I bought $55 of product from a small vendor. They sent the wrong stuff. They told me to return it and they would refund my money. I did and they didn’t. I actually wrote several times to them and they very nearly began to mock me. I challenged the $55 and the cc company wrote it off. I got my money back and I hope Master Card refused to do any more business with the scumbags. I told the crooks I would spend eternity getting my money, even if it involved a small claims lawsuit. I despise white collar criminals.

Secret dark ops + USMC after market mail order ring = $50.00 debit card for mo go juice.

LEGIT!

AW1Ed

Marine Corps after market ring goes for what, $4.90 at Amazon? Not a bad ROI, except for the getting caught part.

Ret_25X

what he meant was soopermoist dank ops…

The stoopid is strong with this one! My grandson would know he couldn’t get away with that and he is only 10 years old! How fucking dumb can these stolen valor thieves get? It is so very true that stolen valor is just the cherry on top of the shit sundae. These fools prove this every day!!
Lock this shit stain up for at least 20 years! I’m sure there will be more of his stupid deeds uncovered?

Graybeard

Quit asking how dumb these guys can be, WW. They take it as a personal challenge!

Graybeard

Well, on the bright side, the phony Marines are back in the race…

Dustoff

I’m still pulling for a Coast Guard phony to jump in and make the race interesting.

They’re an element of DHS nowadays. Even phony fraud SOBs have standards.

I can immediately get a $50 gas card, without even showing proof of service? Just a ring? And here I am buying my own gas like some kind of shmuck.

2/17 Air Cav

You can bet he signed forms attesting to his need. I’m guessing that the funds were likely channeled through social services and not directly from VA by way of some sort of county agency arrangement to expedite emergency funds.

Mason

I’m sure. Probably even given to the office as donations by well-meaning citizens. Like the phone cards family assistance used to pass out during your deployment out-processing.

This is just another example of when that naive “we must believe everybody” thought process back fires.

The scumbag Rodrigo Ibarra Bowman also had a prior charge of “Charge: Wrongfully Obtaining Assistance-Theft- By False Stmts,Concealment, Impersonation”
back in 2015 when he tried to sign up for public assistance. He got a “vulnerable adult” to sign a shelter release form falsely stating he was the landlord of Rodrigo Ibarra Bowman. Rodrigo Ibarra Bowman truely is toilet scum for this crime and others.

After reading all this, I’m in a throat punch frame of mind.

HMC Ret

I’ve got seconds on the throat punch. Lowlife scumbag grifting his way through life. I hope he gets hard time as the only non-member in the MS13 cellblock. A professional scumbag.

JimV

A good reason to have AAA. If I get a flat, I call them. No charge.

Jonp

You mean that in MN i can role into an office, flash my 214 and get $50 in free gas? I will remember that next time i am up that way

Green Thumb

Loser.

Mark Lauer

Yeah. All of us Marines were involved in Top Secret, Eyes Only, if-I-tell-ya-I-hafta-kill-ya, blacker than black, CIA operations that only the president’s MOTHER can know about.
Doesn’t matter what our MOS was; we had the gonads to be fucking American NINJAS.
And we can only tell you this shit on Facebook, or when we’re looking for VA benefits.
