“The Crusaders” face trial
Curtis Allen, Patrick Stein and Gavin Wright, who called their little militia group “the Crusaders”, face a jury trial in Wichita, Kansas soon, according to Associated Press, for planning to set off four car bombs in Garden City, a Somali immigrant community that toils at a local Tyson Foods cattle slaughterhouse on Election Day, 2016. Luckily, one of the original four Crusaders was an FBI informant wearing a wire;
According to prosecutors, Stein was recorded discussing the type of fuel-and-fertilizer bomb that Timothy McVeigh used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, which killed 168 people. Stein was arrested when he delivered 300 pounds of fertilizer to undercover FBI agents to make explosives.
Prosecutors also allege that Wright and Allen made an explosive in the kitchen of Wright’s business and used it to successfully test a blasting cap, with the goal of using the cap to cause a much larger explosion at the apartment complex.
Agents also found aerial photographs in one vehicle depicting what appear to be apartment complexes marked with large X’s, as well as an aerial photo of a church and a Burmese mosque, authorities say. The group also discussed killing the apartment complex’s white owner to send a message to other landlords about renting to immigrants.
Defense lawyers filed a motion to expand the jury pool to include more Trump voters;
In that motion, they argued the case is “uniquely political” because much of the expected evidence is in reaction to the election. They contended the case will require jurors to weigh evidence regarding whether the suspected conduct amounts to criminal behavior or whether it is constitutionally protected speech.
Yeah, I suppose that Trump voters will disregard the potential for the loss of lives in favor of “constitutionally protected speech”. Somehow, I don’t think that is a winning strategy.
The trio have all pleaded “not guilty” and they face life sentences.

Damn… I’m guessing that the collective IQ score of the idiots to be a -127… on a good day.
I hope they enjoy the intense squeakhole dilation therapy that they will receive in the poundthemintheass prison. And, that their “bunkies” are “people of color”.
Hmmmm…. I live in a small community that is largely Hispanic (not necessarily Mexican). All these people have jobs and all of their kids are in school. There are a few retirees like me here, as well.
So these thugs would target a small community like mine because ‘immmerguntzzz!’, right?
Yeah – nail ’em.
Lock ‘em up for life, another addition to Bubba & Thor’s harem.
Trump voter here—not an enthusiastic one so much as “anyone but Das Hildabeast,” but Trump voter nonetheless—and I would vote to hang these assholes.
I would also ask the judge for some one-on-one time with the defense attorney, to…er, “politely discuss” his bullshit assertion.
Somehow, I doubt that hardly anyone sees plotting to blow up apartment complexes as “protected speech”.
Was it a #BombFreeZone?
I don’t like Muslims, generally speaking, and I don’t like Somalis, the skinny pirates. However, I don’t get to choose who lives in this country. If I did, I’m guessing that the US population would be somewhere between 100 and 500.
You are much too generous in allowing that many people into the US.
Sounds like I wasn’t clear. That 100-500 estimate has nothing to do with immigrants. The estimate was the total number of people who would be left in the USA if I got to choose who gets to stay here.
^^^^
This applies to any country right now
You were quite clear.
I might go a bit higher on the count, but that is because many Cowboy Action Shooters impress me with their attitude and behavior.
Yay! I get to stay. What caliber do you shoot?
.45 Colt, darkside
Frontier Cartridge Gunfighter
You?
.45 Long Colt and .410 shottie in my Bond Arms Snake Slayer. Have a .22 Mag barrel for it, too. The thing is a hoot to fire, either caliber.
Didn’t vote Trump in the primary, but I pulled the handle for him against Felonia McPantsuit. I’d sit on that jury in a heartbeat, and I don’t think the defense attorney would care for my vote.
Yeah, there were only a couple of people at TAH that actually voted for Trump. The lion’s share of us voted to keep the Bitch of Benghazi out. So, he got a great deal of support by default.

The AP piece makes you wonder if the Crusader mobile-home mob are paying their attorney off with a new double-wide. Although the story isn’t specific, the trial is probably being held in Wichita because that’s where the federal court is, and the trailer trio are facing federal charges.
It seems to me that asking for the jury pool to be expanded geographically is an oddball defense move. Any increase in sympathy by expanding out of the Wichita, which is questionable, is likely to be offset by the fact jurors are going to be annoyed by having to drive a long distance.
The reporter also made an error in geography serious enough to cast the rest of the story in some doubt. For the record, the town of Liberal, apparently Crusader HQ, is on the Oklahoma border. Garden City is about 70 miles to the north. There’s also no adequate explanation for why the 300 pounds of fertilizer was being delivered to the FBI agents when the arrests were made.
I doubt they can afford any Attorney other than a Public Defender.
This “Trump voter” would volunteer to pull the lever on the gallows. Firing squad would be too honorable.
And I’m guessing they’re going to be REAL popular with the Muslim converts in the hole.
That defense attorney slandered a bunch of folks.
Trump voters tend to be anti-outlaw-alien. They run towards “deport them!” As an action.
The ones I know frown on “do it yourself” mayhem, as in “yank the lanyard and let em drop” disapprove.
One might wish that asshole defense attorney receives his wish, good and hard, and lots of publicity.
Does such idiocy rise to attorney malpractice?
I’ve seen worse than that, it makes one think that ninety percent of Attorneys give the rest a bad name.
I stay away from tyson since I heard that some of the American holiday’s that were at tyson were stopped in lieu of the new influx of immigrants who wanted their own holiday’s off. Anyone out there hear or know about this??
I am one of those Trump voters, and believe me, they would not want me on the jury. I think that all terrorists need to be executed immediately upon arrest. I see killing them as the same as putting down a rabid dog, skunk or wolf. Sort of a public service. We don’t see a need to waste a trial on rabid animals, we shoot them on sight, as it ought to be.
I wouldn’t even waste any money on the expensive drugs used in Gurney Executions, just give them an OD of seized Heroin.
There was a story a couple of days ago that the state of Oklahoma is planning to switch its method of execution to inhalation of nitrogen gas. It seems the drug companies have been making it difficult for states to obtain the compounds needed for lethal injection.

Hang ’em high. Barring that, life+ sounds good to me. Bubba, Mr. Tiny, Julio, and the rest of the gang are probably looking forward to some ‘fresh meat’ at the gray-bar hotel and anal-dilation spa.
(Shrugs) Well, besides this strategy being a gratuitous slap at the perceived stupidity and/or perceived racism of “Trump voters”, I’d say that when straws are all you have to grasp at, you grasp at straws.
I think I might favor a “diminished capacity” defense instead, since by all appearances, the brain power of these defendants combined couldn’t power a flashlight bulb but I have to assume this attorney knows his clients better than I do.
If you read that carefully, they were recorded as planning this bombing.
Saying ‘I hate you because — whatever’ is not the same thing as saying ‘I hate these whatevers and will do such and such to get rid of them.’
Huge difference there.
Threatening to go into a school and shoot people is not protected speech. It gets smartass teenagers into trouble with the police. It’s a threat of violence and nothing else, just as threatening to shoot someone when he’s being carjacked or held up at gunpoint is a threat of violence, not protected speech.
That is the lamest defense ever.
