Weird Stuff You See While Traveling
Sometimes travel takes me near or through parts of the Appalachians. Recently it did again – though not near enough to Jonn’s part of WV to drop by.
While driving, I saw something that made me do a double take. Then I had a damn good laugh.
I saw an ambulance. It was from a firm that called itself “Delta Response Team”.
Seeing the name made me think, “Yeah, OK. Whatever.” But when I saw what I presume was their logo on the door, well . . . I nearly lost it.
You see, the logo was an acronym – in about 8” block-stencil letters, canted at a 45-degree angle to the horizontal – of their name.
That’s right: the ambulances were emblazoned with a huge “DRT” on the doors and sides. Given the use of that acronym here at TAH to mean something a bit different, I thought it was ironic that an ambulance company would use the same acronym for their logo.
And funny as hell, too. (smile)
But don’t take my word for it. Follow this link for a photo.

Yeah, I’m superstitious enough that I’d be like “Call me another ambulance, please…”
Should we (TAH) let the ambulance company in on the joke?
Well, it may be appropriate depending on the situation.
Here they are:
R U Hondo?
No wonder they wanted to spend so much time in Virginia…
Maybe they were another entity that dead disbarred lawer/failed Pilot wanted to sue?
“…though not near enough to Jonn’s part of WV to drop by.”
KeeppaddlingIhearbanjoes, WV?
I can joke, family is from Wheeling.
Best thing to come out of Morgantown? I-68.
You know it’s pretty sad when people from Stubenville just have to point across the river to find someone to make fun of in Weirton.
I saw a Jeep a few years that said Delta Security Force in nowhere Nebraska, haha. I’m guessing they were keeping the children of the corn at bay.
Did anyone send the DRT folks a link to some of the TAH feel good stories?
I love cruising the Appalachians via motorcycle.
We drove south a few years back and I passed one of the weirdest logs I’ve seen in a some time, it was for a place called the Arlington Pediatric Center….here’s a link to the logo….let me know if it’s just me or if you think this is a bit off for a logo….
I wonder if they are affiliated with the Catholic church………….
Much more likely a public school teacher, Cowpill.

Apparently APC got the word that their former logo was, shall we say, “implying the wrong thing”. They’ve changed it, and the new logo is much better. It’s at the upper left of this webpage:

The old APC logo is one featured in this article:

Some of those 15 are absolutely hilarious.
I like the old Mayflower Van Lines trucks with the tall ship logo on the back. Looks like a hand flipping the bird.
Speaking of West By God Virginia, I never realized this…. until recently
Tell me about it! Some Nigerian dude stole the name of one of my blogs for his own. I hope that he is not one of those Nigerian prince scammers and if he is, that he is not using my blog name in his scams. I do a good enough job destroying my own reputation, I do not need any help thank you very much.
Could you believe it?

Cheese,
Dennis Howard Chevalier
Denny H. Chevalier
Any relation to Maurice Chevalier?? Those of the vets born after the silent majority/baby boomer generation would not recognize the name.
If time is not an issue when we travel on vacation, we will choose a lesser road from good ol’ Rand and take it. We love back roads. The mountains of TN, VA and NC have hundreds of lesser roads. It’s amazing the number of classic cars that can been seen on blocks … 55, 56, 57 Chevy, for example. One and two room houses that are really falling down but lived in. Back roads are the way to go if possible.
Ahhhh thanks ambulance guys, but I think I’ll walk to the hospital….
