Doyle Mullins sentenced for scamming the VA
Andy11M sends us a link from the Miami Herald about 71-year-old Vietnam veteran Doyle Mullins who was sentenced to nine months of home detention and five years of probation for pretending to be blind. His take over twenty years was $583,485.74;
The payments came in lumps of thousands of dollars per month and included medical benefits payments for his wife and grants from the VA for a car and adaptive housing.
Investigators said they began surveillance of Mullins and watched him engage in activities such as driving, running errands and mowing his lawn.
From THV11;
Mullins served in the Vietnam War. Years later, authorities say he was able to lie and receive disability payments, grants for a car and medical payments for his wife.
Law enforcement found during the course of their investigation Mullins was actually doing OK; he was seen driving, moving his lawn and running errands.

And Willie will be here in 3…2….1.
Willie, have you ever totaled up how much your brother has scammed the VA out of now?
It would be interesting to see the amount.
I don’t know, but I sure would like a finder’s fee when they arrest him??
I forget what the program was called, but when I was in they had a program that would pay you for coming up with a clever way of saving money. As I recall, you got 10% of the expected annual savings if implemented.
Would seem like we should have a similar program for other fraud, waste, and abuse of the system. Of course, that would see most of the government fired, so I don’t expect it to happen. 🙂
They do have a whistle blower program, but they won’t talk to me either! It seems nobody in government gives a rat’s ass about anybody cheating them? But just let me lie on my taxes and the bastards would hang me by my nuts!!!
I just read on Instapundit.co that the IRS spent $20 million to collect $7 million from delinquent taxpayers…
Ummmmmm….
I’m no mathematician, but, something seems wrong with that type of thinking…
And then they wonder why Trump was elected…
Let’s see, $3200 a month for around 20 years now? I can’t do the math………
Willy: I just round to get close:
$3200 x 12 x 20 … OR
3 x 12 x 20
36 x 20 is $720,000
Money that could have gone to help deserving vets who sometimes waited years for help.
I just finished waiting months to finally get approval for a Choice appointment. The VA is broken.
3,200 * 12 * 20 = 768,000
Somebody get Willie a chair, please.
🙁
I havin the big one!!@!!
Let’s not forget the $380K he scammed from the old people in Denver, then there is the matter of the bank larceny in Missouri I think it was??? Lot’s of missing cash around this asshole!!
Not to mention the 10K he scammed for the Purple Heart Pond to improve his homestead there in NM.
Yeah, the prison release reports say he was set free in June 1997, so it’s been at least 20 years now that he’s been pulling down that 3200 a month.
So, 768K plus 380K plus 10K to only God knows how much more sure looks to equal over a cool Mill to me.
I hope the cocksucker chokes on a penny!
His “home confinement” ought to be in a tiger cage.
No, a shark cage. 50 feet in the water with a regular snorkle – and the cage door welded shut so he can’t get out.
Wow! Nine months home confinement for stealing almost $600K in fraudulently obtained VA benies. Who says crime doesn’t pay, as the likelihood Unka Sam will recover any of that restitution judgment is extremely slim. Plus, he is in Floriduh, land of the unlimited homestead exemption.
Cocksucker
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Shack.
Yes, this guy is a dirtbag… but c’mon guys, please tell me how in the hell do you fake blindness?
I know we have some questionable medical practitioners out there… this guy deserves an Academy Award for his performance…
Still a dirtbag and should swing from his scrotum
he had accomplices that’s how. A VSO who helped him file fraudulent claims, doctors who gave him fraudulent documentation, and “witnesses” who gave him fraudulent statements.
Scamming the VA is a team effort.
Legal blindness does not require a complete absence of vision as we think of it, as I recall. I recall meeting a guy once whose vision was pretty good – in an extreme tunnel a few inches wide – but was otherwise blurred to crap. He was ‘blind’ – but required light to get around and did just fine, especially in a familiar environment.
Most roadways are ADA compliant. The raised reflector Braille dots work pretty good if you weld the axles directly to the frame.
Florida in the lead. What can I say.
dang florida,fake blind guy-seals,rangers,airbourne,force recon,sf,delta force
He must have been the Karl everybody always talks about… You know he had to shave his palms too if he really did go blind from that…
Driving a car while on disability for blindness….
Oh for crying out loud…..
DOH !!!!!
Shitbag.
