Senators to introduce scary-looking rifle ban

| November 9, 2017

Senator Dianne Feinstein released a memo yesterday in which she announced the intention of a score of Democrat Senators to reintroduce an “assault weapon ban” to Congress. In the memo, she says that the group, including the usual suspects like valor thief, The Dick Blumenthal and Chuck Schumer, will specifically name 205 firearms which will be the targets of the ban and specifically exempt “more than 2,200 guns for hunting, household defense or recreational purposes” you know, as if they know which firearm is best for you and suits your purposes.

Oh, by the way, there will be a “grandfather clause” so if you hurry out and buy one of the targeted modern sporting rifles now, you can own it after the ban takes effect. So, obviously, the Senators’ intent is to pump up rifle and ammo sales before Christmas.

You know if these rifles are so dangerous, they should just ban them outright, but then they’d be assured of a political loss when they can’t get the votes to forbid possession of the rifles. The Senators think that they can incrementally encroach on our rights this way.

Feinstein additionally warns about other measures they put on their Christmas list;

Requires a background check on any future sale, trade or gifting of an assault weapon covered by the bill.

Requires that grandfathered assault weapons are stored using a secure gun storage or safety device like a trigger lock.

Prohibits the transfer of high-capacity ammunition magazines.

Bans bump-fire stocks and other devices that allow semi-automatic weapons to fire at fully automatic rates.

I don’t know how they figure that they’re going to get folks who sell guns out of their trucks in darkened parking lots and back alleys to conduct background checks, but there it is, another measure that only affects law-abiding citizens more than it affects crime or actual gun safety.

I also don’t know how they’re going to ensure that I have trigger locks on my guns inside my home – unless they also plan on violating another of my Constitutional rights which prohibits unjustified searches.

The Democrats are ensuring that Republicans triumph in the mid-term elections next year with the “assault weapon” ban, as well as helping with gun sales with their ill-considered grandfather clause. If they’re going to commit political suicide, they should go for an outright ban on sporting rifles and magazines. If they were truly committed to their intentions.

It is starting to look as if all these years all those elections the Democraps won was for one reason only: The loyal opposition in the Republitard Party.

desert

There is one thing more dangerous that a “scary black rifle”…..its a lying, immoral, dishonorable, P.O.S. politician!! Especially mentally retarded, insane, anti American dumocraps! imho

Yef

Its kind of what happened in France, in which the economic policies of Marine Le Penn where almost identical to the economic policies of the Left.
Why would people vote for “conservative party” who has the same economic policies of the left?

David

You really should learn who is who… all of the sponsors mentioned are prominent anti-gun Democrats. The Republicans have nothing to do with this.

desert

Amen! There are STILL some patriots in the republican party, ANYONE that votes dumocrap is NOT a patriot and should leave the country imho

USMC Steve

Not really sure what Yef is talking about, and not sure Yef is either. The socialist democrat party is the only leftists in our government now, and the only party espousing communist and socialist policies. Also the only ones who keep trying to disarm people in this country with the obvious goal of RULING rather than governing this country after all the real nay votes (guns) are gone.

A Proud Infidel®™

Let’s see, those who have been involuntarily committed to a Mental Institution are forbidden from possessing Firearms and ammo, DITTO with those convicted of a felony but yet the Texas Church Shooter did so. So THEIR solution is still more laws?

Further proof that LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISORDER.

The Other Whitey

The definition of insanity…

Graybeard

They look at laws as if they were magic spells that alter reality.

If the first spell didn’t work, maybe the next one will.

Anonymous

They’ll define anyone they don’t like as “mentally ill”…

desert

Strange isn’t it, that those mentally deficients that are elected to dumocrap congress are not forbidden to possess a firearm?

Brown Neck Gaitor

“I also don’t know how they’re going to ensure that I have trigger locks on my guns inside my home – unless they also plan on violating another of my Constitutional rights which prohibits unjustified searches.”

I would how they will know where to look. It is almost like they plan to have a list somewhere.

A Proud Infidel®™

Do you even throw worn-out NiCd batteries as well? As for me, I can neither confirm or deny, ditto with tires.

Graybeard

I can neither confirm nor deny that:
I have received any gun locks.
I have retained any gun locks.
I have recycled any batteries.
I have drunk from a water hose.
I have, as a child, ridden in the back of a car unbuckled.
I have, as a teenager, been in the backseat of a car with a girl.
I have played with mercury with my bare hands.
I have touched lead bullets and not washed afterwards.

“Writng thank you notes on paper for gifts received instead of calling.”

Meant “or calling” , not “instead”.

Well, we:
Rode our bicycles without a helmet, in the street, after dark.

Rode our bikes down the bank of the (dry) bayou trying to go fast enough to get up the other side.

Swam or waded in the bayou when it had rained.

Caught “pet” snakes, barehanded, in the fields.

Ran barefoot through the fields.

I’m sure there is more.

AND WE ARE STILL HERE!!!!

(As Ex-PH2 states, “Giggle, Snort)…😉

OldCorpsTanker72

So we weren’t the only ones who had Christmas tree forts? Did you have Christmas tree wars with the kids down the street and their fort? You’re not my friend Ricky from down the street, are you? If you are, I’m really sorry about that time I beat you black and blue with a broomstick because your Christmas tree trunk club was too unwieldy.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Yes, a sock filled with street chalk to wack other kids, a pea shooter, lighting news paper with dog shit inside on a neighbors door stoop, playing punch ball in the street, chinese hand ball (asses up) Throwing water balloons out of the 2nd story window, calling taxis to your neighbors house along with pizzas they didn’t order, making english muffin pizzas using tomato paste and cheese, stick ball, hit the penny, stoop ball etc.

Forgot Dodge Ball; putting pennies on railroad tracks;drinking nector from honeysuckles;watching the Three Stooges or Bugs Bunny cartoons with their “violent” acts; enjoying “Amos and Andy” on B & W TV (Kingfish and Sapphire..what was racist about that show?)…funny we did all of that stuff…and WE ARE STILL HERE…😎

Forgot this: Playing “Dixie” at our Football/Basketball Games and flying the Confederate Flag (our High School was mostly Military Brats and we all did it, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, American Indian, Oriental-it was School Pride. Years later, all of it was banned. That school is now shut down. You reap what you sow. Less money for that State for education. Sad.

David

Sweet gum ball fights…. if you found a green one so much the better. Hell, if we had known what a durian was we woulda hurled it. Explored unstable caves, crawled through drainage pipes, made homemade push carts and go-carts and went down steep hills with no brakes… I can say this: throwing crackerballs at delivery vans is NOT recommended.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66: So YOU’RE the one that left that nasty dog poop on our front door step…🤣

Amen on that Brother. I rang someones door bell one night night and while running across the lawn, my foot got caught in one of those one foot high miniature metal fences that was for decoration and I fell flat on my face. Lady came out and yelled at me that she was going to tell my Mother. Am 72 now and I ain’t going to pull that shit again.

UpNorth

The adults handled those problems, Pat. They didn’t call the police, they called our parents. They handled it.

Yeh…sang “Zippity Do Dah” lol

Nastyleg

Rhinos and the left hate the constitution period. The sooner they can do away with the whole thing and selectively enforce laws they want the better. If you think I’m over exaggerating please read the dissenting opinions in Heller.

Frankie Cee

If, (<the biggest word in the dictionary), if they get the law passed, my scary weapons will quadruple in value. My $12.00 Magpul magazines will be worth $50, and my $.32 cent .223 rounds will be worth a buck apiece. Will the 13 round capacity of my .22 Henry Carbine exceed their limits? Will they ban my .22 speedloader?

David

They exempt tubular mag .22s. What’s funny is that they list only one model of a Mini-14 (modeled after a battle rifle), the scary black one, but not the wood stock ones. They throw the SU-16 on the list because it is black plasti; otherwise the only feature it has in common is detachable AR-type magazines. Usual Dem contradictory bullshit, as always.

SSG E

What about chainsaw bayonets? Can we still buy those?

A Proud Infidel®™

Chainsaw Bayonets? JUST THINK, you could take that and not only clear out brush on your firing line in between shooting sessions, you could replenish your firewood stock as well, I WANT ONE!!!

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

@David; Thank God the tube 22 mags are exempt from the list. I was all set to jump out of my basement window and take the pipe.Sarc. I have a Rossie .22 takedown gallery and a Taurus .22 takedown gallery. Taurus was one of the first companies way back when, to insert one of those locks built into the receiver that you had to use a key to lock and unlock. Brought it down to Fl. in 2007 when I retired and the two are still inside a fabric case with the rust inhibitor built into the fabric. Hopefully they are rust free, hopefully.

David

and if they ban .22 autoloaders with tubular mags, they would want my 1916 Remington. No way.

E-6 type, 1 ea

That would violate a lawn and garden show loophole.

desert

Feinstein (winestain) and shumer among others are so freaking STUPID, they don’t know they just blew their next election, no one wants communist, anti american, NWO, dishonorable pricks in our congress…..DRAIN THE SWAMP!

Casey

Are they including S&W M&P 15-22? While at the same time ignoring the Marlin 60? That would be pretty funny.

UpNorth

Feinswine admitted they aren’t serious about passing this weapons ban, she said, “We’re introducing an updated Assault Weapons Ban for one reason: so that after every mass shooting with a military-style assault weapon, the American people will know that a tool to reduce these massacres is sitting in the Senate, ready for debate and a vote,”. Seems they aren’t serious about actually doing something, they just want to make political points(they think).

Ex-PH2

So they’re crying ‘WOLF!!!’ and stirring an empty pot.

Well, isn’t that just too, too clever of them????

Roh-Dog

If they make gun ownership illegal I will gladly become a criminal.
There’s a lot of land out there…
Sic semper tyrannis.

Of note: the former Smith and Wesson holdings, AOBC, and Sturm, Ruger & Company, RGR, are at or near 52 week lows. Full Disclosure, I own both stocks and YMMV.

David

Good time to buy, then.

Roh-Dog

Also Vista Oudoor Inc, parent company for Blackhawk!, CCI, Federal, etc, missed their earnings. As of this morning they were down 30%!
I love this pull back of gun and ammo manufacturing stock price as it’s about the only part of the market that’s not super inflated. Great insurance.
Full disclosure: I own VSTO (at a loss but f*** it, chaos pays)

David

Most brokers regard them as ‘sin’ stocks on a par with tobacco or liquor companies. Had a running fight over S&W for years.

Roh-Dog

Sin is in the eye of the Great Creator and his Free Market says blood makes the green grass grow.

Perry Gaskill

Some of this is political theater. For Feinstein, it’s also a likely pre-emptive strike against Kevin “Ghost Gun” De Leon, California State Senate President Pro Tem, who is running against her re-election to U.S. Senate.

The Other Whitey

De Leon is even worse than Feinstein. He’s even more of a piece of shit than Pelosi!

He is the absolute worst. Only retarded proglodyte know-nothings have voted for him into office.

Nah, you have to remember that the chuckleheads pushing for this are safe. They get re-elected every time, so they don’t really look at this as suicide. Now the ones that are a little less stable are the ones that won’t vote for this BS.

Schumer is such a moron, I can’t believe anyone is stoopid enough to think he knows what he’s talking about.

old98z

If the portion of this bill relating to trigger locks became law, here are a couple of ways you get easily busted without an illegal search:

You’re SWATted – someone reports shots fired at your house to 911. Police respond – check house, find unsecured weapons – welcome to your fine/arrest.
or
A visitor to your house (neighbor or maintenance person) reports seeing an unsecured weapon accessible to children. Police respond – more of the same, regardless of initial report being accurate or not.
or
Negligent discharge of weapon at your house. During the investigation, unsecured weapons found. Same result.

DoomGuy

You put too much faith in the dems not being willing to fall on their sword to toe the party line. They’ve been promised what they really want. A fat paycheck for life and a couple of homes in Florida.

And if you think the repukes aren’t gonna support this you’re sadly mistaken, and republicans are worse IMHO because RINOs like McConnell, Ryan, Cornyn, McCain, Graham, and Grassley will gladly toe the democrat party line for free.

And the RINO’s are so resentful over Americans electing Trump, they’d be happy to ram this through in order to lose both houses to the democrats in order to deny Trump the ability to get his agenda passed.

Mark my words… We’re in the midst of traitors and there’s nothing we’re allowed to do about it.

Not really, Graybeard, but when local politicians get all sweaty-palmed, pale, and shaky, the easier they make it to exaggerate what it takes to even be in the same room with a gun.

Ex-PH2

Almost forgot: Evanston and Chicago ALL told us in the 1970s and 1980s to:
1 – Lock your car doors when you drive, even in daylight
2 – Don’t set a pattern
3 – Don’t assume that if it hasn’t happened HERE yet, it can’t happen HERE (wherever HERE is). The reason for this was the drive-by random shooting of Ricky Birdsong, a popular sports coach, out walking his dog in his own neighborhood early one evening.

Also, am I missing something? Where are the other State Reps for this Bill?

rgr769

If this gets into law I can see how it will be a terrific deterrent to meth, heroine, and crack dealers across the country, as they will not want to violate these new gun laws. Where do I find one of them heroine dealers? Been wanting to buy one for years.

WOW, I can’t wait for this Sat.and Sun. 11/11-11/12 and head up to the Palm Beach County Fl. Fairgrounds and check out the Nov. gun show. Should be a major buying spree. I was at the one right after Der Herr obama got into office, and the lines waiting to get in ran out into the outer parking lots. Took around 15 minutes to get in and the dealers raked in mucho dinero on that one show along with every time a mass shooting took place, every one and their Uncle was there making purchases.

rgr769

You should set up a parking lot concession. There are some fake ex-SF/SEAL airplane parking attendants available to help out.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

rgr769, Thanks for the tip. Before I found this site, I never realized the enormous amount of these Mil phonies. Going to the gun shows since I moved down here ten years ago, I used to see the bikes lined up and guys with vests but I never really paid attention and if I did, I would have thought that they were legit. I will post a sitrep on the show after I get home from the show.

rgr769

Great, I look forward to reading it. I used to give these vest wearing posers the benefit of the doubt, back before I read this site everyday.
