The Burn Pit; NFL Players take a knee on a day designated to remember, honor and cherish Gold Star Moms
At the American Legion’s blog “The Burn Pit” is a piece written by someone we all know and love. I’m not going to steal a word of it. Go over there and read it for yourself.

I have been a Steelers fan since I was a little kid. Nice to see there remains one good guy on that team. Thank you, CPT Villanueva #78, who is still a Ranger and still leading the way.
This is the same league that prohibited September 11th memorial shoes and a memorial decal for murdered policemen, and where taking a knee for a prayer can get you flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.
NFL, you are -really- fucked up.
Bought his T shirt today
Apparently, he was persuaded to recant.
Damn….
A friend of mine is fond of saying “There is no freedom of speech in America until you retire.”
On the other hand, if he had the courage of his convictions which Tim Tebow displayed, he would have stood by his actions.
I was hoping that he did.

Yup!
Remember all the ‘Welcome Home and Surprise Homecomings’?
Paid for
NFL can’t be trusted to do the right thing without being paid for it.
I, also! 🙂
Signed
Dun did dat.
Signed, hopefully we get a shitload more to meet the response
Signed, and shared. Fat gingered me says very sorry and did not mean to report comment. (Facepalm)
I find the worlds of corked bats, steroids (MLB), EPO and possibly electric motors (cycling) far more interesting than the NFL. If I want to see anything hairy chested I’ll find hurling, or at worst Gaelic football.
Jonn,
Thanks for the link. Wish I was halfway as articulate as the author of the Burn Pit article.
That site is not even mobile friendly.
Way behind the times.
Someone let them know we use smartphones and tablets these days.
Why didn’t you?
hell, even Usain Bolt stops a interview for our National Anthem….
Do they have the RIGHT to protest? Sure.
But sports was (emphasize WAS) a place where political bullshit was set aside.
But nooooooo…you had to go all SJW on the field with your shit.
So yes, you go ahead and throw your tantrums, and complain about “privilege” as you drive to/from your multi-million dollar homes in your Jaguars, Ferarris, and Mercedes to play a fucking game.
Me? I’ll be turning off the TV until hockey season starts.
I wonder if Alejandro Villanueva is aware that, as a military veteran, even in civilian clothes, is now entitled to render the military “PRESENT ARMS!” salute, instead of the civilian custom of placing the hand over the heart?
That announcement was published years ago by both the Pentagon and the Veterans Administration.

lol…first time I did that in public they looked at me like I had a dick on my forehead.
Yeah, me too. NASCAR fans were digging it though. Phoenix International Raceway always does a big veteran’s day tribute at the NOV race.
When that guidance came out I shared it with my professors that were veterans. The time frame coincided with a graduation and it was pretty cool to watch them all pop tall with their salutes at the ceremony.
That guidance also came out with an urging for veterans to wear their awards during veterans day.
I’ve never done that. 🙂
@ IDC SARC:
If you’re embarrassed by your medals, then get the miniature riband rack to wear on your lapel.
They offer both pin-on and magnetic mount versions.
With a coat and tie, it looks quite dignified, and not at all gaudy or obtrusive.
I think there are two or three web sites that sell them.
Nah, I’ll pass on that too. Seems a little arrogant and cocky.
Is it?
You -earned- them.
It is a suitable occasion.
It is per regulation.
You were asked by competent authority.
You -earned- them.
Funny how the -real- heroes tend to be hesitant, eh? I do respect that.
I’m no hero, I’m proud of my awards, im just not that guy that needs to flash them. I already know what I did to earn them, and that’s enough for me.
That is the problem.
I do not need some asshole’s permission to render Honors or Not.
I thought they were all to busy f-ing hookers and getting free booze from Fat Leonard to have anytime left to anything else.
I guess Im old fashioned, I still remove my hat and place my hand over my heart. I know and see lots of veterans who do the hand salute, but that seems to me to be something you do in uniform.
I don’t think its wrong, just me being a dinosaur.
Press conference: someone asked Mattis about the NFLers: “I’m the secretary of defense,” Mattis said. “We defend the country.”
End of conference.
Gotta love Mad Dog.

The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.
@ A PROUD INFIDEL:
Thank you for referring me to that movie, “PURPLE SUNSET”, which I just now finished watching!
It’s a very unique and interesting production, since all of the characters are speaking in their own individual languages, i.e., Russian, Chinese, and Japanese.
So, yes, turning on the English subtitles is absolutely necessary.
Now he’s APOLOGIZING for respecting the flag!

The truth is that at almost every turn since it’s founding, the Democrat party has been the oppressor of folks with a deep permanent tan.
Now they seek to project that guilt over to “the south” or to America. Yet they were the ones backing slavery, secession, segregation, etc. The Republicans opposed them.
The Democrats do seem to like it when people kneel to earthly power.
Dsouza does a better job of explaining:

Last night, Jerry Jones pissed all over the memory of Chris Kyle, when he kneeled with the rest of them. Oh, sure, the NFL has been all too happy to have their shows of patriotism, when it serves them or it’s paid for. Yep, the DoD paid for most of the “patriotic” displays at NFL games over the last 16 years. The NFL does nothing for free.
Fuck them. I am done. There is no way for the NFL to stuff the shit back in the horse this time. That smarmy little fuck that is the “commissioner of the NFL” needs to be kicked in the nuts.
He has his head so far up his ass he sees daylight through his belly button.
IMHO, Jerry Jones rode the fence.
So disappointing.
