North Korean drone found spying on US military
A South Korean resident found a North Korean drone aircraft after it crashed in a wooded area near the Demilitarized Zone. Analysts say that the 64Gb memory chip had photos of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD) installed recently to defend the South against North Korean missile attacks. From Stars & Stripes;
The official said the photos were not high resolution and most of them were of forest land and residential areas. But more than 10 of the photos showed THAAD, presumably from an altitude of just over mile, in the southeastern area of Seongju, the official said.
More analysis was needed to determine if the drone had transmitted any photos, the official added.
In other NorkNews, Dennis Rodman is riding to the rescue “to open a door” according to CNN.
Four Americans are currently being detained in North Korea. When asked if he planned to raise their detention with North Korean officials, Rodman said: “Well that’s not my purpose right now… My purpose is to go over there and try to see if I can keep bringing sports to North Korea.
Yeah, sports is what they need in North KOREA.
Late breaking news, Otto Warmbier, 22-year-old US student, a prisoner in North Korea serving a 15-year sentence is being released, according to Fox News.

I am thinking that a country where starving people cook and eat their babies food might be more important. But change of government first…
I think rodman/woman is really over there looking to find some dresses he didn’t see last trip! imo
Maybe the Norks took out one of Lil Kim’s papier maché projects from summer camp and mounted a camera on it…
well finding a drone laying around is alot more impressive than what I used to find laying around when I was over there. I found plenty of propaganda leaflets laying around, and sometimes when I would be walking down Casey BLVD on Camp Casey I would catch glints of light up on the ridge line.
And Dennis Rodman continues to be clueless about the real world around him.
We have Dennis Rodman on the case so I feel like we have the upper hand. If we could just get Sean Penn and Jane Fonda to back him up, I’m pretty sure the whole Korea problem would be put to bed. Fingers crossed!
The new president of South Korea wants to host the 2030 World Cup with North Korea.

I hope Moon Jae-in doesn’t ruin the South’s economy while he’s gladhanding the Norks.
If true, it sure flew quite a ways from Norkland down to Seongju to photo the THAAD site. Hard to tell size from the photo but it doesn’t look large enough to have that kind of range and still remain covert.
Well, it didn’t make it back, did it?
And the Norks measure their cards in bits? Yikes.
8 foot wingspan, 64Gb memory card.
DPRK Encryption = header saying “Yankee! Don’t read this!”
Raven is a smaller aircraft and it has been successfully used. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AeroVironment_RQ-11_Raven
That plane is large enough to have some good sensors on it. No, not necessarily military grade, but one can obtain some very good commercial cameras built to integrate into drones. The commercial market is exploding with them right now.
Dennis Rodman can barely spell his own name, having been socially promoted through every school he attended. Whatever he thinks he knows of North Korea, he shouldn’t. Being a former ‘roided up NBA thug does not a diplomat make.
Dork from NORK can start hosting the NBA finals
Drone? Looks more like a 1975 vintage R/C aircraft to me. Do like the sky-blue paint, though – someone over there DOES have a brain!
It does, doesn’t it? I suspect the Norks put some satcom controller in it tho’.
Safer than using some covert sneakers to control at standard R/C ranges.
Uh-oh, the Norks got ahold of some 1990 issues of 2600 or Hacker’s Quarterly, and they’ve figured out SATCOM control of small aircraft… ouch!
Proof that at least one person in all of Norkiland has a fun job. I wouldn’t mind being paid to play with gps guided toy planes. Do you suppose they also have a “tactical diorama unit” that focuses on painstakingly accurate models of South Korean railways?
No you wouldnt. You would catch the ptsd
Yes, I know it is small…but small UAS are not a joke, please see here: http://www.au.af.mil/au/afri/aspj/digital/pdf/articles/2017-Spring/F-Patterson.pdf
And, by the way, the strongest company in the commercial UAV market is Chinese, DJI.
“Otto Warmbier, 22-year-old US student, a prisoner in North Korea serving a 15-year sentence is being released”
Yeah, in a coma.
Dont dis Rodman. Nixon opened China with ping pong
BREAKING NEWS:
The owner of one of the last Radio Shacks operating and making a profit in the US has lodged a complaint with the Peoria, Illionois District Attorney Office. The owner of the Radio Shack states that, “some guy by the name of George Smith has failed to pay for a 1 cylinder propane motor, model airlplane and micro camera” and “I figured something was wrong when his email IP address came back as Miami and his shipping address was ‘North Korea Consulate to UN”. District Attoney had no comment on the complaint.
Some people need to realize that Rodman’s NK playtime involved a minimum of US diplo/gov oversight.
Think about it long and hard – Rodman’s reputation, and the image of US basketball in the eyes of certain groups.
I’d withhold passing judgement on Rodman re: NK for 20, maybe 30 years. But that’s just me.
Mr. Sharkman,
Very observant of you to point that out. In addition, to the INCHOP briefing and OUTCHOP debriefings of three lettered agencies, a Rodman visit actually, at this time, does not hurt and can help if only in a small measure.

You never know what someone will do to avoid offending or disappointing a person they admire – for whatever reason.
Watch the scene in Schindler’s List between Oskar Schindler and Amon Göth when they discuss ‘true power’ (that conversation and the temporary results from it actually took place).
A ‘sports hero’ can find himself in a conversation or a position to make a comment that a seasoned diplomat – constrained by protocol – could only dream of.
So true. And Rodman maybe be bat crap crazy, but he is not stupid.
If he does cut a deal, no doubt someone else crafted exactly what to say.
Here you go: awesome scene, awesome acting and actors.
Laugh all you want, but the NorK’s figured out how to either launch from the sea or fly that POS all the way south, not far from Pusan / Chinhae, and took photos of highly sensitive areas DEEP within ROK and almost made it back. This ain’t funny. Those assholes are moving up the technology ladder quickly and we need to get our shit in a sock or we might just get a big surprise. Fight tonight indeed.
You’re right.
