US transfers 11 prisoners out of Guantánamo Bay

The U.S. on Monday transferred 11 prisoners out of Guantánamo Bay, the latest batch of inmates to leave the infamous facility in Cuba that once held around 780 detainees.
The 11 prisoners were Yemeni nationals, according to the Defense Department, and their transfer to the country of Oman brings the detainee population at the site down to just 15 people.
President Biden has continued the mission of the Obama administration to transfer prisoners out and wind down operations at the site that has become infamous for accusations of torture and abuse as the U.S. carried out the war on terrorism.
The Pentagon also announced a detainee transfer to Tunisia in December, but it’s unclear if Biden intends to bring down the population even further before he leaves office.
One detainee was released IAW an executive order signed by Obama in 2009. The others were authorized after a “…thorough, interagency review by career professionals who unanimously determined all detainees as transfer eligible consistent with the national security interests of the United States,” according to an unnamed Pentagon spox. I am filled with confidence in the also unnamed career professionals’ ability to resolve remaining the GITMO issues. I do question exactly whose interests are involved, and what those interests may be.

I’ll empty GITMO on day one of my presidency. Unfortunately, in transporting the prisoners, I anticipate multiple system failures in the unmanned aircraft that is transporting them from Cuba, with the aircraft lost at sea and100 percent fatalities.
I’ll announce in a somber tone: “Although we believe Hashit ma Drawours was in the aircraft, all names are being withheld because, well, nobody cares if they all die.”

As this news breaks I saw on a friend’s instagram a photo of Americans testifying against and identifying Germans in the war crimes trials — specifically those responsible for the Malmedy Massacre. The comments by today’s “enlightened” youth sickens me… “typical American arrogance, putting on a show of theatrics before executing the wrong guys.”
They’d have never have guessed in 1945 that by the start of the next century their own descendants and country folk would turn on them and label them as the real criminals. Didn’t take long at all for society to completely collapse.
We now know the reason that we have either quit, slowed extremely down, or change history classes and government classes for our youth. I think the same of removing cursive writing and reading.
