Abdullah Al Rifahe and his brother, Majid Al Rifahe were sitting in their car in Minneapolis, Minnesota, muching on lickies and chewies while tossing the wrappers on the street last month. A local resident observed them and asked the pair to be more mindful of their trash. The two brothers verbally assaulted the man. He began recording their license plate number and the pair got more abusive. The citizen flagged down a passing police cruiser.
Police asked them their business and they said they were waiting for a drone delivery which made the cops more curious. The Twin Cities Pioneer Press says that police were surprised by the contents of their car;
A hand grenade, a handgun, assault rifles and magazines and a large quantity of ammunition, according to a criminal complaint filed against the brothers. They also found cellphones, computers and electronic devices that could be used for bomb making.
The weapons were confiscated. Majid Al Rifahe, 26, was cited for misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct and released.
Abdulla Al Rifahe, 27, was charged with felony carrying a pistol in public without a permit and remains in jail in lieu of $200,000 bail, according to the Star Tribune report. He had previously been arrested for the same crime a few months before and released from jail a couple of months before this incident.
Denizens of Minneapolis are left wondering what the brothers were planning and the police aren’t telling beyond reassuring the public that they are no longer in danger – whatever that danger was. The Star Tribune says that the alert citizen, a disabled retired railroad worker, has applied for a restraining order against the pair because they’ve been stalking him. Because the public isn’t in danger, but the alert pensioner is still a target.

Seems they pinned all the legit charges on the older brother. The first one seems to be caught with Hand Grenade and carrying a damn handgun.
Apparently, since older brother is a repeat offender, they only want to punish his ass. So if the younger one strikes and does something stupid. We can blame the Minneapolis PD for not throwing the younger one in jail.

I’ve lost a lot of stuff over the passing years, what with moving around from place to place, and/or being homeless and on the street.
I thought it was legal to own a pistol in Minnesota.
I’ve never been there, but I’ve always wanted to go see that “Land of a Thousand Lakes”.
Where I live, no permit is required for wearing a pistol openly, and although a license is required to wear it concealed, who’s going to know you’ve got it if it’s kept out of sight?
If you ever have to use the weapon, you just make sure it’s visible before the police arrive.
After all, in Utah, getting a license costs money.
In Idaho and in Mississippi, it was easy to get my concealed weapons license, but Utah has a lot more requirements, or at least, they did several years ago when I was looking into the possibility.
Maybe things have changed?

I am reasonably certain the popo know a real grenade when they see one. Our local cops certainly know the difference. A short class on various explosive devices is part of their academy training for most departments. If you will recall that is why the dummy grenades were/are painted blue. Also, the police did not let them go. The older brother is being held on $200,000 bail, which will cost him a $20K bond premium. In most states carrying a loaded weapon in your car without a CCW is a crime.

Ranger, you’re wrong on that call, as it’s actually legal to carry a loaded weapon, both hand and long gun, in your vehicle in almost all the Red States. The Blue States, on the other hand, governed by liberal Democrats, will slap your ass in prison for even an unloaded weapon in your vehicle. They’re saving the children, you know.
However, you need to update your gun law knowledge and a good way to do that is to join the National Rifle Association. Their legal branch is an excellent source for current gun law.
