Friday morning feel good stories
From Frisco, Texas;
According to Frisco police, a 911 call was placed just after midnight reporting a burglary in progress. When officers arrived they found a man, believed to be the burglary suspect, bleeding in the parking lot — he’d been shot. Police say the man was taken to a local hospital, but died later from his injuries.
From Seattle, Washington;
Witnesses said as one man came out of the business, another man tried to rob him. As the victim’s friends exited the lounge, the gunman shot the victim in the leg.
The victim’s friends then jumped in and tried to help.
As one of the victim’s friends wrestled the gun away from the suspect, the suspect fired the gun, nearly shooting the friend in the head.
“The shooter started running so we ran after him. I’m the first one who grabbed him. We both went on the ground. He shot another bullet just right next to my head. Then the other guys came and we grabbed him and called the cops right away,” said Mamoon Alrawe, whose friend was shot.
A group of the victim’s friends held the suspect on the ground until police arrived and took the suspect into custody.
The Kenner man told deputies he and Gillard were sitting in his car in the parking lot of Lapalco One Stop Shop, 6501 Lapalco Blvd., about 1:13 p.m. when Gillard pulled out a gun tried to rob him, said Col. John Fortunato, spokesman for the department.
The man grabbed his own gun and shot Gillard, who got out of the vehicle and collapsed on the ground behind the vehicle, Fortunato said.
Deputies recovered one gun inside the man’s car and another near Gillard’s body. The case is still under investigation.
Chief Tango sends us link to a story in Selma, Alabama;
A man and woman had just returned home and were getting out of their car when they were approached by a gunman. During the process of trying to rob the couple, officials say the male victim was shot.
As the suspect went around the other side of the car and robbed the female victim of her purse, the wounded male victim got hold of his own weapon and fired at the suspect, fatally wounding him.
“This is still under investigation, but it appeared to be an attempted robbery and the person that was being robbed had a gun on him and was able to fire back,” said Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.
The unidentified suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he was in his late teens, early 20s.
The male victim was treated and released from the hospital.
