Wednesday morning feel good stories

From Lynchburg, Virginia;

Police said they responded to a reported burglary in progress on Dearing Street on May 15 where the caller said someone was trying to rob their home and shots had been fired inside it.

When officers got to the scene, they found one man lying in the yard and a second man lying in the doorway to the home.

Police said both men were suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Both were taken to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

Police said they were notified on Tuesday that Dedric Shyheim Megginson, 18, of Lynchbug had died from his injuries.

Darrell Jermaine Saunders, 18, of Lynchburg was listed in serious, but stable condition.

In Pitt County, North Carolina, sheriff deputies responded to a burglary call;

Deputies were called to the break-in happening on Abbott Farm Road about 7:30 a.m. between Ayden and Winterville. The home is at the intersection of Abbott Farm Road and Jolly Road.

Sheriff Neil Elks says a witness called authorities and when deputies arrived, the three burglars started to run.

The sheriff says one of the burglars was armed and fought with a deputy as he was attempting an arrest. That deputy began yelling for backup, and when another deputy came to help, Elks says the suspect pointed the gun at that second deputy who then shot the suspect.

The sheriff says the wounded man is expected to be okay and will be released from the hospital.

From Las Vegas, Nevada;

Just before 5 a.m. Monday, Grajeda says Moncayo went back to the 7-Eleven on Lake Mead and Pecos.

“He came back with one of his friends, and they say he started shooting up to the ceiling,” she explained.

It just so happened, an armed security guard was working in the convenience store.

“One of the security guards went in and shot him (Moncayo) in the back,” said Grajeda.

Moncayo died, and now North Las Vegas Police investigators are trying to figure out if Moncayo’s family’s story lines up with the clerk’s.

From Kensington, Pennsylvania;

A Kensington homeowner shot a 47-year-old man who was breaking into his residence Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Just before 1:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of Albright Street, the intruder was shot in the chest by the homeowner, who was not described further.

The man was taken to Temple University Hospital and was reported in stabled condition. The homeowner’s gun was recovered by police.

From Charlotte, North Carolina;

A family member said the man was in the shower when he heard voices of two to three strangers in his house. He thought they intended to rob him.

His cellphone battery died so he grabbed his gun and fired at them, ran to a bedroom and fired one shot through this small closet window to escape.

“He was actually freaking out,” the neighbor said. “He didn’t know what else to do.”

The call for help brought in a flurry of police activity in the neighborhood.

Concerned loved ones rushed to check on him and his fiancée.

I asked police if the shots hit any of the suspects in the house.

“There was not an overt indication of (anyone shot), but we are checking with area hospitals to see if anyone checks in there with gunshot wounds,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Capt. Ryan Butler said.

Dude says that he fired 14 rounds at the intruders.

Yes, there are still those who would deprive us of life, and/or our goods. 5 instances here where attempts were made, where law abiding people were set upon by the useless of society. Several took lead, at least one is dead. And one legal gun owner needs to get more range time, perhaps taking the “Nude Shooting Course”. 14 rounds fired and apparently hitting no one is not “self defense”, it is panic reaction.

“The homeowner’s gun was recovered by police.”

WTF why? They better have given it back.

Good grief why even call the police if they are going to show up and disarm you.

Retired Grunt

Anytime there is a shooting the police will most likely confiscate the firearm for ballistics testing. At the end of the case the firearm can be retrieved from the police department usually after the court releases the evidence in the case.

It is difficult to take a stable shooting stance when one is running away and one hand is protecting your Johnson.

Naked man fires 14 shots and hits no-one. There is a joke waiting in there somewhere

It’s nice to see that Dedric was “lost to gun violence.”

There’s a new shooting range opened up a few weeks ago, not very far from me. I think I’ll pay that place a visit one of these days.

Does this mean, if you are caught in the shower, that you need to practice at the range in the nude?
