Ladner trial begins
As we said the other day, the trial of Shane Ladner started on Monday. Ladner, you may remember, claimed that he was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds he sustained during drug interdiction operations in Central America in the 1990s. Our friends at Fox5 Atlanta report that, even though Ladner won’t be testifying on his own behalf at the trial, the prosecutor played a video of Ladner during a deposition in 2015 when he sued Fox5;
“I woke up and there was a Purple Heart on my pillow,” he told our attorney Cynthia Counts. “I was approached by someone in a– who I assumed was a Colonel. He was in a colonel’s uniform. I was instructed on the sensitivity of our missions. I was reminded of my nondisclosure paperwork and I was told that if anyone asked I was injured in Panama.”
The prosecution also brought in an FBI agent, special agent Mark Sewell, who could find no record of shrapnel wounds in Ladner’s medical records.
[T]he medical documents consistently showed only scars for an appendix operation at age 16 and a hernia operation at age eight. No shrapnel wound scar.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Rachelle Carnesale asked special agent Sewell about a February 13, 1991 visit to the clinic by Ladner.
“So on that day was Mr. Ladner in the hospital having his stitches checked?”
“No. It shows he was being treated for turning an ankle while running,” replied Sewell.
In fact, Ladner’s medical records produced in court describe only minor issues. During the time he was supposedly on a series of secret missions throughout 1991, he was treated for a Plexiglas window falling on his hand, a twisted ankle after stepping off a sidewalk, and a hurt nose when the door in his dorm room hit him in the face.
I guess Team Ladner’s strategy is to cast doubt on the Army’s record-keeping. Either that, or give the impression that Ladner’s wounds were so secret that the Army removed all evidence of his wounds from their records. There were no Purple Heart Medals awarded for drug interdiction operations – there was no war, so why would anyone get a Purple Heart?
Category: Dumbass Bullshit
ex-OS2, are you there?
Cocksucker.
KA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
(phony Purple Heart goes flying)
What in the hell is a Colonel’s uniform?
Big lie. It doesn’t take any special skill to see that SOB is lying in that messed-up and silly account of his. All it takes is to have a few years of experience in this world.
Colonel Sanders…. he also dropped off a few buckets of chicken to help with the shrapnel.
Maybe it was Col. “Bat” Guano
Well, in this fruitcakes mind, its pink with big purple polka dots! LOL
Sick call ranger.
I know his story is BS but, the army has gone back and issued CIBs to some soldiers who served in Central America from 1982 to 1991 I believe, mostly SF though. I was in Honduras, JTF-B, myself in 91 and even though shots were fired and we carried live rounds, not many shots were fired at us.
And I bet you can name everyone in your squad and say where they’re from, just for starters. These damn phonies can’t ever recall the names of those they served with and, to me, that’s the most damning piece of info there can be.
Very good point. I can even name the personnel I worked with in other units and dealt with on a regular basis.
I even remember fun little details of my deployments that others wouldn’t necessarily remember, but I recall them as fun things that happened to me.
Actually, I can remember most, but not all
I found a mint on my pillow once!
Well that’s a bit of luck, while serving I once woke up and found a slightly overweight middle aged woman there on the pillow….it was the last time I ever drank while out dancing, after that night it was seltzer and lime without the booze…at least that way if I ended up with an older, chubby girl I knew it going in, so to speak.
All I ever found on my pillow was some drool. It was mine.
Strange how common that story is.
I once went to sleep with a 28 year old Korean hottie and woke up with a 37 year old Korean woman. She was still fairly hot, but being 11 years older than me was kind of a sober shock.
Well, at least you didn’t wake up with a 37 year old Korean MAN. 🙂
The Tooth Fairy left a quarter under my pillow once…
I did too! At least I thought I did. It turned out to be a rat turd.
Don’t trust dark chocolate.
got booked into a short-time hotel in Taipei once during a trade show and the other hotels were filled…. endless supplies of Japanese porn (yuck-very heavy on quasi-rape) on the tube and had condoms on the side table instead of chocolates.
I woke up with a skid mark on my pillow once. It was a parting gift from my 15th ex-wife when she left me. Where it stopped on the pillow, it continued on my face. She let out a powerful cheese fart apparently, I was so cheese intoxicated that I didn’t wake up no matter how god awful the smell of her cheese fart was.
Cheese,

I’m not sure how the Army’s record keeping could be so bad that he could be in the states being treated for a twisted ankle while killing commies in Panama.
I don’t see this ending well for him.
And that makes me smile.
Well, knowing Army Human Resources Command as well as I do from dealing with them for the better part of two decades, I ‘could’ believe that being an issue. However, in his case he doesn’t have the facts on his side.
I deployed to Iraq and we had some IRR folks mobilized to deploy with us in 05. One of my compatriots told us that a couple guys from HRC knocked on his door and asked his wife “is this the XXXX residence?” “yes” and then said, “Oh, well we’re looking for your husband, is he home? He was supposed to report for duty…..” She chewed them out something fierce for that, but he was deployed to Iraq and HRC was sending troops out to track down IRR folks who hadn’t reported for duty. At that point he’d been getting paid for 7 months and been in Iraq for 5.
I’m still waiting for Trump to talk about draining that swamp I call the High Royalty Command.
“I’m still waiting for Trump to talk about draining that swamp I call the High Royalty Command.”
I refer to it as the Crystal Palace.
I thought the condoms on the side table were funny tasting bubble gum…
He’s phuked. He comes across as a lying asshole in the deposition. He should have asked to plead to one count and taken his medicine. And this POS was a soldier and was a cop.
It’s mind-boggling that these posers just cannot bring themselves to stop rocking the lies, even when they’re cornered.
Well, he’s in a small group, relatively speaking. Most would never have let it go this far. But among his obvious character flaws is pride. He couldn’t agree that what he said in the deposition was a lie when clearly it was exactly that.
In for a penny, in for a buck. He has invested so much time and effort in living the lie, to include his wife losing a leg, that it would be impossible to fold and admit that he lied. He can’t even admit that he lied, he made “inaccurate statements”. He pulled a Bill Clinton with that statement. He gets to live with his inaccurate statements every time that he looks at his wife with the missing limb.
Exactly! Hopefully he will be gone awhile meeting Big Bubba in the cage….
Like Don Shipley (SCPO, USN Ret.) said in a news interview, “A number of these guys are going to take their lies with them all the way to the grave.” and it looks like Shane Ladner is one of them.
I guess it’s possible that, in his messed up mind, at least, if he loses, he and his wife will have to pay back all that money from the settlement of the train crash, since they were on that float under false pretenses to start with. That may explain why he isn’t backing down when logic informs us that his case is hopeless.
It could also be that he’s just dumber than a bag of hammers. 😉
No, he and his wife will not have to repay the settlement money they received. What he’s doing is spending that money on attorneys, which I couldn’t be more pleased about. There is no pot ‘o gold at the end of this rainbow, just disgrace and maybe a jail cell for him.
I wouldn’t think he would have to pay it back, but he may not be aware of that. I do concur that he’s spending it on attorneys, though. Can’t believe his wife hasn’t divorced him over this whole fiasco. Most of that is HER money, not his.
What marks these frauds as lower than pond scum is the harm they do their wives and children with their lies.
A real man sacrifices for his family, he does not sacrifice his family for his ego, lies, gain…
Excellent, Graybeard. You nailed it squarely.
Word
Absolutely Eden. He’s spending HER money on attorneys trying to defend HIS lies. I also wonder why she didn’t just grab the check and launch his ass to a new address. It was HIS butt-fuckery that cost her a g’damn leg for fuck sake.
This would be the perfect time if she has friends to get her relocated with whatever is left of HER money! He’s in trial everyday, but he probably has his guards watching the cash cow!
So WTF is his wife going to have for money one Shane Ladner has burned it all up paying his Attorney?
They were hoping that the suit against Fox5 would pay off, that didn’t work out the way they planned.
I would say something about the lack of basis for the suit involving not having a *** ** ***** ** but even I’m not that tacky. Mostly.
Think Tim Poe, when he got caught, he tried the whole ‘it was real to me’ defense also.
Union Pacific getting their money back? No probably not. Shameful they went after them but they had the deep pockets. IMO it was Show of Support and City of Midland. They didn’t get a parade permit to the City, however, they can’t afford to pay all those servicemen and their spouses. It’s so sad.
They should eventually have to pay back all the money that he and his cronies raised under false pretense of having two Purple Hearts when in fact he had NONE! The people in the Atlanta area who were scammed should totally be paid back. That was just wrong on so many levels!
The Union Pacific Railroad should not have been held at fault because the train’s Engineer was forbidden from sounding his horn due to the fact that the crossing where the wreck occurred was declared to be a “Silent Crossing” by local legislation. I’m sure that the Truck Driver’s insurance company had to fork over a boatload or two of dinero due to the Driver’s negligence at that crossing.
It was Union Pacific who they sued and Union Pacific who paid. They were awarded a settlement but amount was not disclosed. They were not even at fault. Show of Support did not get a parade permit to City of Midland to warn Union Pacific they were throwing a parade across the tracks. Show of Support doesn’t seem to vet the Military men they welcome into their city for free hunting trips. Even after Shane Ladner was arrested they had them back the following year to do it all again and gave him a rifle. Class Act!
Your one of the smarter ones !!!
He doubled down on teh stupid… smug asshole on tape and with nothing official to back his story up. And what has this cost his arrogant ass:
1. Career
2. Wife lost her leg
He’s gonna get hammered when it’s over with… hopefully his “peers” on the jury and the judge break it off in his ass.
Did Ladner even allow his missus to get a prosthesis or does he keep her confined to a wheelchair?
He was offered one felony and 5 misd. He refused it. Prosecutor then reindicted it for 6 or 7 felonies. So he had a chance at no prison time. He decided to rock the lie some more. All the way to prison evidently.
Ex-Cop,… Prison, heheheheheheheheheh…
Is he getting legal from Daniel Bernath?
Is he getting legal advice from Daniel Bernath?
Hack Stone Publishing regrets the error?
“He was offered one felony and 5 misd.”
If that’s 100%, then he might have said, ‘Screw that felony. If that’s the best the state will do, I’ll take my chances ’cause that felony conviction finishes me anyway.’
Makes sense. No all offered deals are sweet.
Here’s the t. You know where it goes. Damn thing tried to escape.
“Here’s the t. You know where it goes. Damn thing tried to escape.”
Sigh.
I thought this was fixed awhile back.
Its true. Happened back in 2015, i think. And youre right. The felony would have sunk him. But, he was probably offered less prison time, if any. Taking it through trial gurantees prison time. At least a year.
7 felonies and FBI case still open… your pretty bright !
Look , I’ve supported SF Units in Iraq.as a truck driver, Hell , my best friend is an Operator who is retiring next month. And I know there are aspects of missions which are Classified. But I’ve never ever heard of secret PH given by unknown officers. And I hate how these clowns use Black Ops ( whatever that’s supposed to mean) as a catch all to cover up lies . And why the hell all this obsession with combat ? If you served honorably. Wherever you were. That should be good enough.
I used to talk soldiers and now to veterans and I hear “I was just a, add whatever i.e. specialist, truck driver, cook.” That response really kind of makes me twinge. I tell them CONSTANTLY, it takes all of us to win the fight. Without all of the support, THE REAL GRUNT WORK, then the mission would never be accomplished. I’ve experienced a theatre opening precisely one time in my career. After that every other time someone did all of that work and it wasn’t the trigger pullers. I’m just saying. HONORABLE SERVICE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH. Better than 98% of our population. Sorry to rant but this subject always gets to me.
You make a great point. Embodies the ideal of ” one team one fight”. And your right. honorable service is more than enough. Thanks for clarifying that
‘And I hate how these clowns use Black Ops ( whatever that’s supposed to mean) as a catch all to cover up liea. And why the hell all this obsession with combat?’
Two words for it, NCF: weak ego. You could also term it low self-esteem, but weak ego is better.
The ‘Spec’/SF people are revered as if they were gods, and these leafless twigs want that, too. They do not, however, want to earn it. They just want to pin it on and get the pats on the back.
If it’s about getting awards, I have a bagful of faded ribbons from competing in horse shows 50 years ago. I have trophies and medals from competing in figure skating and ice dance 20 years ago. Big Deal. I did that because I enjoyed it. The awards were just the icing on the cake.
The dopes who want that, want to claim it, don’t want to go to the effort of earning it. They just want it handed to them without doing anything in exchange.
They do not want to do the work or take the risks.
Yup.
Everyone wants to be a hero, until it’s time to step up and do the real hero stuff.
Looks like every time he went to medical it was so very minor! Can’t take the pain of a hang nail. Mommy even wrote letters to his commanding officers to try to get him out! Certainly not a hero!! Would like to see the video of the accident. There was one guy jumping off that flat bed truck first, guess who it probably was? Ladner after he pushed his wife off under the train!
That’s so true. Ya know the SF guys will tell you that they are just as useless without the Beans and Bullets folks. As any other troop. We all have a vital role to play. I was just proud to have the opportunity to serve. I’ve held three Mos. in the Army. But I think driving truck was my fav. It gave me an opportunity to support many types of units. I ever thought of the SF folks as a measurement of what I needed to be. I just had to do well at my job. It’s a shame that others. Hate what they did so much that they pretend to be something they are not .
Retired Grunt: I pointed that out, by using much extreme profanity, to a relatively new poster many months back. He stopped the “If you ain’t infantry, you ain’t shit” mantra since then, to his credit. Actually, he has become a good poster of insightful thoughts.
I’m quite pleased with having done Corpsman work for 23 years, only serving about 18 months with the grunts. The last many years of my career I was in an NEC with sometimes less than 125 Corpsmen. I’m happy knowing, if E1 or Senators/First Ladies/Supreme Court Justices (Yes, I had all as patients), everyone was treated equally. I told my people the following: If you’re deployed, and your spouse (primarily female at that time)tells you she’s being treated like shit by the Navy Hospital, how well can you do your job, worrying constantly about her? Everyone who does something in the military has an impact, a bearing on someone/something else. There are no exceptions to quality work among all NECs and MOSs. Every military member is in a relatively small group of Americans who stepped up when called. That’s good enough for me. And MY First Lady, The Russian, who was an Army Medic for two years, 1970-1972.
Rant Over …
He never served combat! He was a pussy! He slipped on curbs and ran into doors probably to avoid combat of any kind! Oh wait, he is just dumb and stupid. You can’t fix that
He was a fuck turd !!! He would go to medical every time he was going to get deployed…yes he is a pussy !!!! Or maybe he identified as being a pussy !! Maybe he needs to use the girls bathroom but be careful he also likes them young , like really young !!!
Tool.
So far, to believe his story you must also believe:
1) The Army is lying about where he served, what he did while there, and when he did all that.
2) The Army lied about his earning a Purple Heart, or two, in spite of his never having served during a period when Purple Hearts could be earned much less where they could have been earned even if the calendar thing worked out.
3) A doctor is lying about his injuries.
4) An entire medical facility, or two or three, is lying about when and where he was treated for relatively minor injuries.
5) Every vet who ever served is lying about “secret missions” vice the nature and character of an individual’s assignment being classified. It isn’t and we all know it even if some details about some missions might be classified for some individuals.
Everyone is lying except Ladner and his attorney. Evidently just because we want to.
It would be interesting to ascertain just what any of us has to gain by lying instead of telling the truth.
The guy seems to be accident prone. I particularly like “a hurt nose when the door in his dorm room hit him in the face.” The imagination runs wild. Not that I don’t believe him.
Yeah, I caught that. If he was a dick, I imagine he walked into a door on numerous occasions.
More like he walked right into that door while he had a hard on and hurt his nose.
Shane Ladner is ex-Law Enforcement so HE KNOWS about the candy on the pillow his first night in jail. Hell, once his fellow inmates find out about him being an ex-Cop life is gonna be a real JOY for him, I wonder how much of his settlement money he’s already burned through? I’m sure his Lawyer is gonna at least get a new set of premium golf clubs outta him!
Truth be told, API, ex-cops in prison get put in protective solitary custody. (I am presuming that Georgia prisons work like Texas prisons.)
Nonetheless, picture this: He gets 10-20 years. All that time he has to spend alone in a cell, he has no freedom in the prison, he has to take his rec yard time alone, and is constantly aware that if by some chance he is mixed with the general population for some reason – however briefly – his life is endangered.
10-20 years of being alone and worried every moment that someone is going to shank you.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy.
More like a beach house !!!
When is the Army going to send in Col. Trautman? Ladner must be the last survivor on ‘Baker Team’, and the Col. needs to ‘bring him in’.
Ladner didn’t swallow the last time he was with Trautman. Trautman now says “who”?
Karma is a fucking bitch.
Ladner is in it deep. I do believe that his justification is that IF he gets over in court he can go back and sue his department for wrongful termination, plus reopen the defamation suit against the news station.
Black Ops. I was watching a you tube video discussing the ass Clown Frank Dux and they had some scmuck boot-ass Army PVT E-2 who worked in records saying how they would often mess up records. He also mentioned how FOIA returns would also have “Blacked out” portions on the records. He said they were because the information was secret.
Of course anyone who has any experience knows that there is certain PPI that isn’t releasable under FOIA regs.
If this guy had the IQ of a rock, he would cop the best plea his lawer could get for him, do his time/community service/whatever and move on. I feel for his wife, and if he’s any kind of man with honor, he feels for her, too. This could not have turned out any worse for them, unless it resulted in even more severe injuries. I really feel for her.
His antics cost her a leg but I’m sure his legal expenses are likely costing either an arm and a leg or a hefty chunk of the settlement and he’ll leave her without even a pot to piss in when he goes off to prison.
Let’s see his life change forever after the accident…. translation, I’ll never have to work ever again…. always was a lazy piss of shit with no ambition or drive to accomplish anything
All he has to do is raise reasonable doubt in the mind of a couple of jurors. There are enough nuts out there who will buy his crazy story that could get put on a jury. The DA is going to have to bring his “A” game to this one.
Let’s see opening statements from Bubba said that this is a case with many twist and turns, but the one the one thing is … that the Family started all of this. Wow want kind of family could get all these people to lie …. A General, two colonel’s, two doctors, people he worked with, military records, and a FBI agent. Wow!!! what a waste of time. Fall on your sword already….. but wait you can’t, because you have no honor !!!
Truth is attacking Ladner’s bullshit from all sides. He is alone, surrounded, and out of ammo. Jonn’s expected update from yesterday’s action will explain. I’m giddy w/ glee.
http://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/250951985-story
Don’t know if anyone still follows this POS, but I found out the sentencing is set for October 3, 2017 in the Canton Courthouse. Everyone should show up in uniform to show the Judge, who I’m told will just give Ladner a slap on the wrist!!!!
