Veterans Today crackpots see nukes

| April 15, 2017

TSO has been sending me links to Veterans Today this week, so I went over there to look for myself what the loons are doing. You might remember that we busted the founder and chief writer at VT, Gordon Duff when he tried to convince readers that he was Marine “special operations” in Vietnam last year. Well, now he’s telling his readers that the US has fired eight nuclear weapons in Afghanistan;

Trump Uses Nukes: VT Teams Rush to Site of Nuclear Bunker Buster in Afghanistan

Our investigations in Afghanistan have revealed the nuclear poisoning of that country from not only indiscriminate use of semi-depleted uranium munitions but the use, on at least 8 occasions, of tactical nuclear weapons. This is the cover story:

The US military has dropped the largest non-nuclear bomb in the American arsenal on an area of eastern Afghanistan known to be populated by Daesh (ISIL) terrorists, according to the US Defense Department.

A GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb (MOAB), also known as the “mother of all bombs,” was dropped at 7 pm local time Thursday, the Pentagon confirmed.

[…]

The US dropped thousands of depleted uranium bombs on the Iraq city of Fallujah in 2003, which killed thousands of people.

A great proportion of all births in Fallujah since the strike have suffered from abnormalities and the rate of mutation among newborns is higher than what was found in Japan after America attacked the Asian country during the Second World War.

Press TV has conducted an interview with senior editor of Veterans Today (VT) website, Gordon Duff, to further discuss the issue.

The “depleted uranium” thing is just so much empty blather. The reason for using uranium is because of it’s density and it’s usefulness in penetrating armor and thick reinforced walls – there’s no such thing a “depleted uranium bomb” except in the minds of fear mongers.

But the misnamed Veterans Today claims that they are sending investigators to Afghanistan to test soil and air samples for a nuclear detonation. I already know what the results will be.

Veterans Today is funded by PressTV – the Iranian state media.

Looks like that “Senior Editor/Military Expert” Gordon “Anal Probe” Duff has been freebasing the used kitty litter once again…

ex-OS2

Cocksucker.

Mick

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

(Veterans Today tinfoil hats and Iranian rials* go flying everywhere)

*rial = Iranian currency

Sparks

Hope they are all there for the next drop.

OWB

Kooks gotta be kooks. They simply know no better. Only way they cease being kooks is when they are forced to quit their lunacy.

Free speech? Not really. More like sedition. However it should be characterized, they are just a bunch of troublemakers.

UpNorth

Looking at that pic of Duff, it’s clear that the crazy is strong with that one.

Flagwaver

Wow… 8 tactical nuclear weapons. It’s amazing that they are the only ones to hear about it. You’d think that some other countries would have heard about it, like Russia or China or… I don’t know… India since it’s right there.

Doc Savage

What on earth is wrong with this guy?

I cant even be mad…..this fella is so far out in left field I feel rather bad for him.

He is the quintessential rabid conspiracy theorist living in his parents basement.

AW1Ed

Ummm, don’t nukes have a readily identifiable seismic signature?

Anybody seen one lately? Bueller?

26Limabeans

“tactical nuclear weapons”

Well, he does resemble Davy Crockett.

timactual

Heh. Good one.

2/17 Air Cav

Come on. Somebody say that this is plausible. After all, we do have tactical nukes…

The Other Whitey

Retards gonna retard, I guess.

Dave Hardin

Rachel Maddow will pick up the story…I am confident she will get to the bottom of this.

Deckie

Yeah, that dude would be all over it.

Thunderstixx

Knobs…

Guard Bum

Man you guys aren’t very observant; that is clearly Kramer’s brother.

A Proud Infidel®™

Some people feel like they always HAVE to go full retard.

Frankie Cee

The “Duffoon” is a sensationalist, seeking clicks to his VT web page to keep up his ad revenue. Fake News? Duffelblog is more true than Veterans Today.

gclayton

Thanks for defining depleted uranium bomb.

Ex-PH2

Does this bellringer actually have a job?

And if so, who on earth would hire him? He seems like the sort who would put used cigarette butts in his pocket to ‘save them for later’, and forget to empty those pockets when someone does his laundry.

Ret_25X

I can’t believe he isn’t in congress with Waters and Feinstein…LOL

Fyrfighter

Dude is either a flat out liar / traitor ( read democrat) or nuttier than squirrel turds… just saying..

OWB

Can I buy “BOTH” for $1000 please, Alex?

The Old Maj

PressTV is the definition of phony news media. Veterans Today is the definition of an unvetted, tin cup crazy source. It doesn’t get more legit than that.

They would have done better with the old Pravda interviewing some guys under a freeway overpass about life in America.

Mark Lauer

Good to know the US wasn’t relying on those old NERF bombs. I mean, URANIUM bombs are gonna to a lot more damage.

The Old Maj

Yes but they are so rare we depleted the whole inventory with a single strike. It’s Obama’s fault for not taking care of the military. He didn’t purchase any uranium bombs the whole time he was in office.

Nut jobs like Gordon Duff would look at this video and screech that actual nukes are being sold in toy stores:

HMC Ret

I notice he removed his tinfoil hat for the interview. That gives legitimacy to his claims.

Casey

The AF hasn’t even been using DU rounds for years, no? I was under the impression that the ‘Hog generally loaded up with HE rounds for air support these days.

Andy11M

Casey, I think you might be right. There really wouldn’t be a need for AP when you are dealing with light skin vehicles and dismounts. I was Army and on me second tour of Iraq (OIF II), all of our Brads were loaded HE heavy, and the “AP” rounds we had were actually the training AP rounds instead of the DU rounds. For those who know nothing about the Bradley, there are two ammo boxes that feed the 25mm cannon. I think, don’t quot me, it’s been years since I messed with a Brad, one box holds 230 rounds, and the other 70, for a total of 300 rounds for the main gun. When you are HE “heavy”, the larger box has the HE and the smaller box has AP.

Ret_25X

you are correct. During DS/DS I loaded both cans HE. The 25MM HE kills almost anything up to and including a BMP.

As for the ammo for the A-10, there are 3 ammo variants; API (magnesium/tungsten), HEI (unknown) and TP. I don’t know if API rounds are made of DPU in newer ammo, but the penetration stats are not what one would expect from HV DPU rounds (59mm).

The Old Maj

We used TPT for forcepro ammo during Southern Watch. It will shred any light skin/ light armored vehicle.
