3 US soldiers shot in Afghanistan

| March 19, 2017

According to Fox News, 3 US soldiers were shot by a supposed ally in Helmand province in Afghanistan in the latest green-on-blue attack. The gunman has gone to his Great Reward thanks to other soldiers on the scene.

The attack occurred around 1:30 p.m. local time at Camp Antonik in Washer District in Helmand.

“Coalition security forces on the base killed the soldier to end the attack,” Capt. Bill Salvin, spokesman for U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, told Fox News. “The U.S. soldiers are receiving medical treatment at this time and we will release more information when available.”

The severity of the soldiers wounds was not immediately clear. Salvin declined to offer more details.

I guess some things never change.

Okay, is it correct to say that the ROE have changed now? I’m only asking because the info in the news release is nominal right now.

Sadly, it will take a while for any genuine change to trickle down to the line animals.

Those who were political devotees of the prior administration will certainly drag their feet in unshackling the troops from the stupid.

It will take some rather severe steps to fix the current sorry state of things. Not sure that Mr. Trump is willing or able to do so.

Yet.

He does, however, seeem to learn rather quickly. I remain hopeful.

The ROE doesn’t cover green on blue attacks.

Regardless of how tied our hands have been when attacking the enemy, we always have had the right to return fire in self defense.

Let us pray for the swift and full recovery of these brave young men. Now, once your barrel is aimed in my direction ALL bets are off. ROE? You engage, there are no rules.
