Felon arrested with a handgun in Baltimore
Bobo sends a link to the Baltimore police Facebook page which carried the above picture with the following narrative;
Eastern District
Officers arrest man with a loaded handgun during traffic stop
On March 1, 2017, officers from the Eastern District Operations Unit pulled over a car in the 700 block of N. Rose Street. During the traffic stop, officers recovered a loaded handgun and drugs from inside the vehicle.
36-year old Keith Gladden was arrested at the scene. He was transported to the Central Booking and Intake Facility. Gladden is a repeat offender and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
The comments under the picture are hilarious;

“This is the first gun you have access to in Grand Theft Auto: Gettysburg.”
Muhahahahahahahahaha
My fave as well.
Agree it looks ridiculous from this view, but how many folks would be laughing if they were looking into the barrel from about three feet away?
Meant to add that the cops and courts ought to treat this guy the same as if that piece of junk were a mint condition 1911.
I like that much better than my little .22 mag derringer I carry in my front pocket. That way, when I come home, I don’t have to listen to my wife commenting, “Are you glad to see me or is that damn gun in your pocket again?”
Scary black handles, obviously an assault Derringer
The horror!
And could that electrical tape qualify as a shoulder-thing-that-goes-up?
Lets ask leading expert Carolyn McCarthy
The cmts are a scream. Coincidentally, seven Baltimore cops have been indicted by the feds for shaking down those they are sworn to serve, collecting overtime while out of state and other not-so-nice things. The connection to this story is that all or most of them were members of Baltimore’s gun task force.
“all or most of them were members of Baltimore’s gun task force.”
Surprise, surprise. Corrupt fascists. Who knew?
They would have displayed it properly and safely but the break was probably rusted tight.
Is that the gun named after Yancy Derringer?
I didn’t know they had electric tape in the 19th century.
Kinda looks like the one Aaron Burr used back in ’04…..1804, that is.
LOL.
(yeah, I had to google for the correct info)
I have a sudden urge to yell, ” Sic Semper Tyrannus,” and jump from my balcony. Hmmm….
You have to be a protesting democrat to do that.
Break a leg!
Retired Grunt. I can hook you up with a Maryland gal for a layover. Her name is Mary–Mary Surratt. And if any harm befalls you, so to speak, I know a doctor who will help you out. Name of Mudd.
867-5309…..
And her name is Jenny…
Several years back, a cop I know told me that he had caught a gang banger with a Smith & wesson Model 3 break top 5 shot .38. The gun was over a hundred years old. What was funny was that it was cal. .38 S&W short, but it was loaded with .32 S&W shells that had been wrapped in electricians tape to bring them up to the .38 cylinder bore. Cop surmised that if the perp had fired the piece it might have damaged the shooter worse than the target. He didn’t think anyone the gun was aimed at was in much danger.
Reminds me of the statements made about comedian and actor Marty Feldman,”If you don’t want him to see you, stand directly in front of him.”
more than likely, there would have been so much gas release past the bullet that the shooter would have been unharmed; just would have had a split case int he chamber. I have fired a full-house .44 Magnum in a .45 Colt cylinder before and there was no lasting damage. Don’t think I would want to make a practice of it, and obviously a real high-pressure load in a gun made for something with very low pressures is not going to be safe, but it takes a LOT to really damage a gun.
and Reck has been out of business for many years… most of what they made was turned into a forbidden import by GCA ’68. For those here who think their guns look like POss…extra points. They were.
I am quite familiar with firearms, especially those made in the 19th Century, but I have never seen that one before. It looks like some kind of cheapo copy of the Remington double barrel derringer but with only one barrel. I have one of the original Remingtons that was made in about 1890. This pistol is certainly not a “pepperbox,” which was a multiple barreled pocket pistol. Whatever it is, it is clearly a single shot weapon of dubious character, like many of our posers. We should nickname it the Bernathian Special.
The hammer looks modern machined and the knurling on the break action button (if that’s what it is) looks modern.
It has a serial number I’ll say post WW2 just because the hammer. Most likely much newer.
Someone in the comments claims it is a Reck of W. Germany.
Yes Reck Deringer 22 lr

Good job. I couldn’t tell what it was other than a piece of shit. Looked more like a starter gun for a track meet to me
The stripped grip is so you can attach it to your keychain. The tape is so the gang punk can tape up his pants to run after shooting someone
Reck of W. Germany…. Wreck of Germany, maybe?
You guys got it all wrong.
It’s a homemade sap, hence the tape lanyard.
I call shenanigans. Everyone knows felons aren’t allowed to possess firearms, so clearly there is a misunderstanding here.
hmmm..
(Adjust glasses. Peers…)
Looks like a man’s gun.
Only much smaller.
Once in a great while, someone posting on Wikipedia actually knows their subject.
“Improvised firearm”

I was crying reading those FB post comments they were so good. My sides hurt, no need for ab exercises tomorrow.
The police had no right to arrest ole Keith. I’m sure he is a good boy who never did nothing wrong. He didn’t mean to have that gun. I bet he never robbed or assaulted anyone or ever did drugs. Probably even drank milk. I’m from Baltimore and I know. These thugs…whoops, did I call him a thug? I mean, these guys of unrest are all choirboys.
It depends on who did the arresting…

The more I look at that pea shooter, the more it looks like a horse’s head. I wonder if the butt screwed into the top of a cane at one time.
Perfect defense: He really wasn’t knowingly in possession of a firearm. It just happened to be in a car he stole.
No? Not a good defense?
OK.
That’s funny. Reminds me of the genius who wotked in the old City Hospital in Baltimore. He decided that it was a good idea to steal the wallet, containing assorted ID, of a deceased patient. They bore some physical resemblance and were about the same age. So, one night, the thief gets jacked up by the local gendarme and produces the decedent’s ID. The officer ran it and it came back as a hit. The decedent had a parole retake warrant outstanding and buddy boy went straight to jail. He kept insisting he wasn’t the guy but was loathe to admit that he stole the ID.
