John S. Simpson; Marines & Mickey valor thief
About a year ago, controversy started swirling around a veteran who ran a charity called Marines & Mickey, John Shannon Simpson, when another group, the Lance Corporal Skip Wells Foundation, cut ties with Simpson. The story goes that Simpson misrepresented his military service – his website said that he had been in a Marine Recon unit and that he’d been a drill instructor on Parris Island. In this picture, it looks like he’s wearing Airborne wings and a SCUBA Bubble on his polo shirt;

In an interview last year, Simpson repeated claims previously posted on the Marines & Mickey website that he served in a Marines reconnaissance battalion and as a Parris Island drill instructor.
He also claimed to have served four trips to Afghanistan and that he’d retired as a Master Sergeant, according to media reports.
The Marine Corps disagrees with Simpson;
His training did involve special instruction after a special court martial;
According to the Independent Mail last month, the Feds are still investigating Simpson’s dealings within his own organization.
Two federal agencies are still investigating John Simpson, a former Anderson resident who founded a charity called Marines & Mickey.
A joint probe being conducted by the FBI and Naval Criminal Investigative Service “remains open and ongoing,” NCIS spokesman Ed Buice said in an email last week.
Investigators have spent several months looking into complaints about the financial practices of Marines & Mickey, which Simpson formed in 2014, a year after he moved from Anderson to Estero, Florida. The charity was created to send Marines and their families to Disney theme parks and to pay for families of Marines to attend boot camp graduations.
Simpson also has been accused of falsifying the details of his military career.
Efforts to contact Simpson were unsuccessful. The phone number for his Florida business, Semper Fi Secruity [sp] Systems, is no longer in service.

THEN he began just debiting money, from their accounts which since they were brand new with 3 months pay plus for thousands of dollars! He deserves to be tortured daily!

This is routine. Punitive discharge are not executed until the appellate process has played out. I’m sure he eventually got to enjoy his Big Chicken Dinner. 🙂
Punitive discharges automatically are reviewed at the appellate level. This includes dismissals for mid-shipmen or officers.
Punitive discharges are held in abeyance until the appellate court makes its final ruling.
Once the appellate process is over (and if the findings were legally sufficient and the punishment was appropriate for the case), then any suspended punishments is effected.
In this case, I’m betting he ended up getting his BCD.
All other punishments took effect immediately.

I see that he was awarded a much coveted Driver Improvement Certificate. Hack Stone was earned one of them early in his career, and his father was so proud of that accomplishment that he framed it and displayed it on the wall Pappa Stone Corporate Headquarters. Also, if you subtract the lowest enlisted pay grade (E-1) from the highest enlisted pay grade (E-9), you get E-8. That explains why he thought he was a Master Sergeant.
His record shows that he was AWOL for a year. Everyone knows that AWOL is code for secret squirrel operations in Afghanistan.

This is a deeply personal issue for me. I am a proud mom of a Marine. My daughter graduated from Paris Island two years ago. There was no way that I was going to mid her graduation and I sought out resources to help with the cost of the trip. That’s how I encountered Marines and Mickey.I applied and was to receive 100.00 toward my family’s hotel room. There were some conditions associated with receiving the assistance one of which was that my new Marine had to call John Simpson so that he could congratulate my new Marine. Well…that was this scumsucker’s hook to get more money. You see, he preyed upon the new Marines not really to congratulate them but to get them to donate to the charity. My daughter authorized a one time donation of 200.00. A couple of weeks later another 200.00 came out while she was at MCT. Luckily, the Credit Union had placed a hold on her account while she was at MCT due to possible fraudulent activity on her account that isn’t related to this,but thank God it happened as I have read of accounts from other victims who had multiple transactions made on their accounts. The SOB had it planned out so that he would get brand new Marines who he knew would have lots of money in their accounts at graduation to donate while they would be on leave. Then he could keep taking funds while the Marines were at MCT, and in the field when the Marines wouldn’t have access to check their accounts for a month.
