Yates should have resigned, as an appointee she was about to be sent packing anyway…if she had differences of opinion and ideals with the incoming administration resignation makes more sense than accepting the very temporary lead position.

Not that the confirmation process has moved swiftly (pun intended!) but her time was limited from the beginning. The only noteworthy aspects of this are her lack of professionalism and the timing of her being asked to leave.

Anybody who’s dumb enough to move from here to Iraq deserves what they get.
The gas station/deli in the town where I live is owned and operated by a Christian Iraqi immigrant family (I think they’re Coptic). While they have some pride in Iraq’s ancient history (Babylon and whatnot), they are very happy to be here and have zero interest in going back. They immigrated legally, completed the process to become US citizens, and are as American as any of the rest of us. They also lean conservative when voting.
They think Trump’s immigration ban is a brilliant idea, probably because they have firsthand experience with the people in question. That firsthand experience was, of course, the reason why they came here in the first place.

These times to me are akin to the shake up we had when I was a youngster on AD in the late 70s/early 80s, when Reagan came in after Carter. The left was freaking out in western Europe saying that Reagan was going to start a nuclear war with the Soviets. Just prior to Reagan being elected I remember reading an op-ed article form a liberal egg head complaining about certain troops being seen off post (at Bragg,I’m pretty sure, because everyone else was wearing the old solid od green fatigues) “scaring” people because they were wearing camouflage uniforms. Then after Reagan was elected in the ultimate “FU”, Department of the Army puts everyone in a salad suits (BDUs).
Maybe it’s time we gave anyone on the left side of the fence a box of ammonia ampules to clear their heads, and some cozy, padded rooms where nothing will disturb them. And no TVs. TVs are bad for disturbed people. TVs make them think and that bruises the brain cells, remember?
My Dad was a Judge in a locale near an Army Installation when I was a kid during those years and I remember him telling me that during the Jimmeh Kahtuh years a liaison from the nearby installation would ask him what the Soldier did, if they were convicted and what could be done to help them salvage their careers. During the Reagan Years the same liaisons would ask what they went in front of him for and if the answer was “Yes” if they’d been convicted, said liaison would reply “Well that’s it, they’re out of the Army.”. The Reagan Years saw a lot of sub-par and time-counter types get thrown out and I hope the same happens during the Trump Years!

I’m glad they’re protesting and speaking their minds. Not happy when they tear stuff up and act a fool though, but free speech is the American way. I may not agree with what they have to say, but I’ll defend their rights to say it. Just like with the klan and American Nazis. I find their speech repugnant and hate filled, but it’s worth defending. All free speech is worth defending.
