Trump and compromising information

| January 11, 2017

The Washington Post says that the Russians have amassed a treasure trove of information on the president-elect that they can use to leverage American policy.

A senior U.S. official with access to the document said that the allegations were presented at least in part to underscore that Russia appeared to have collected embarrassing information on both major candidates but released only material that might harm Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton — a reflection of Russian motivation that bolstered U.S. spy agencies’ conclusion that Moscow sought to help Trump win.

The inclusion of such unsubstantiated allegations in the election report, a development first reported Tuesday by CNN, adds a disturbing new dimension to existing concerns about Russia’s efforts to undermine American democracy.

And it adds another bizarre twist to an already strange election year, injecting new controversy over the Trump team’s relations with Russia just when the president-elect is trying to consolidate and launch his new administration.

As you might guess, the Russians deny that they’ve gathered any such information, according to Fox News;

Moscow denied allegations Wednesday that the Kremlin has collected compromising information about Donald Trump and called news reports on the matter a “complete fabrication and utter nonsense” — as the president-elect blasted the claims on Twitter.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for President Vladimir Putin, insisted that the Kremlin “does not engage in collecting compromising material.”

The Daily Beast says that the intelligence agencies got the information from 4chan;

“So they took what I told Rick Wilson and added a Russian spy angle to it. They still believe it. Guys, they’re truly fucking desperate—there’s no remaining Trump scandal that’s credible,” the anonymous post from Nov. 1 reads. Wilson is a Republican operative who managed Evan McMullin’s independent campaign and has been an outspoken critic of Trump.

There are no details in the post, which is archived here, about what was allegedly told to Wilson—simply that the user purportedly gave him fake information. It also doesn’t explain how this would have gotten to intelligence agencies.

With a straight face, CNN reports on a briefing to the president-elect by intelligence chiefs;

The allegations were presented in a two-page synopsis that was appended to a report on Russian interference in the 2016 election. The allegations came, in part, from memos compiled by a former British intelligence operative, whose past work US intelligence officials consider credible. The FBI is investigating the credibility and accuracy of these allegations, which are based primarily on information from Russian sources, but has not confirmed many essential details in the memos about Mr. Trump.

The classified briefings last week were presented by four of the senior-most US intelligence chiefs — Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, FBI Director James Comey, CIA Director John Brennan, and NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers.

That “former British intelligence operative, whose past work US intelligence officials consider credible” was being paid by Trump’s political opponents to assemble the report.

Two things; First, is anyone really surprised that there are stories like this out there? Second, having watched Trump over the last several months, I don’t think there’s anything out there that could embarrass him into policy shifts even if the stories about him are true.

What happened to all of those sexual harassment victims that were coming out of the woodwork before the election?

Fucking priceless.

Smells like Fake News to me.

A desperate mediot working with desperate pogues in a flanking action to try to stop the Trump demolition of their influence and positions.

Slander them with supposed sexual improprieties has been used so many friggin’ times by these hacks that you can see it coming from a mile away – and smell it for ten miles.

Graybeard

Plus I just clued that this was the Clintoon fakeNews Network

Those same folks who claimed the kidnapping and torture of a mentally handicapped man is not “hate.”

What is scary to me is that there are people who believe these talking heads.

1) – No.

2) – Right on.

3) – Sexual harassment? Pffft! Shoulda smacked him when you had the chance, bitches!

They really do have too much time on their hands, you know.

Silentium Est Aureum

Funny, how as soon as he got elected, all those claims just dried up like a dog turd in the Sahara.

Does ANYONE actually believe ANYTHING, that frigging washed up post has to say about ANYTHING? They are liars of the first order, why are they not asking the wicked bitch of the east how much info she gave them?

Skippy

Anything coming from the left media I simply don’t believe
Talk about sore losers

QM1

Yep. Soon as I heard it fake news was the first thought that came to mind.

They keep this up and no one will believe anything at all they say. Lot of folks don’t already anyways. And for good reason.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

This is what happens when irresponsible assclowns in the media run with raw intelligence thinking they know something….

They’ve only got a few days left to scream from the rooftops whatever lies they can come up with….

The folks who forgive a drunken Ted Kennedy for drowning a woman tried to slander Sessions yesterday…I’m not a huge fan of Sessions, but he seems like a decent enough guy who is more than qualified to do the job and the claims about his racism are such utter bullshit that anyone promoting them like that fucktard Cory Booker are just cocksucking fucking liars….he might have said a word 35 years ago…or he might not have….wow that’s some serious allegations there you shitbags…meanwhile their fucking hero Teddy actually left a woman to die while he went home and called his attorney and put on some dry clothes. Let that sink in for a moment…because Teddy was rich he got away with at a minimum negligent homicide, and the people who love him will just talk around a dead woman like she doesn’t matter because of all the great shit he did afterwards. But they are so incensed Session might have said a word they can’t find their way clear to support him.

That’s all you really need to know about the liberal sense of honor and integrity….miserable fucks that they are.

The Other Whitey

Saw a thing last night where a member of the Snowflake Liberation Front tweeted(?) a picture of Sessions holding his granddaughter in his lap, with this asshole’s commentary that Sessions “better return that Asian baby to the Toys’R’Us you stole her from.” Evidently liberals still support miscegenation laws, eh?

Veritas Omnia Vincit

I saw that as well, he tried to delete that tweet right away, but the internet is forever so his racist, anti-American tweet will remain.

That comment alone made me wish Sessions the best of luck in his new role in the government. Pissing off the snowflakes like that gives me hope he’s the right man for the job.

MORE BULLSHIT from the same liberal mess media asshats that bawled about “Fake News”. What’s next, maybe hard evidence that Trump is not qualified to be POTUS because it’s alleged that he cut a fart before walking into Church when he was five and in the third grade he called some girl a “Doo-doo Head”, thus making him a *GASP!* possible bully?

Commissar

Not saying this story true. But if this story were about Obama or Clinton most of you guys would believe it and think anyone that didn’t was an ignorant libtard.

Selectivity and confirmation bias is a serious problem.

Commissar

Homophobe? That does not even make sense.

Self loathing, sure. But homophobe? Not even close.

A Proud Infidel®™

Homophobe? Very unlikely. Conservaphobe? Logicophobe? ABSOLUTELY!

“Self-loathing homophobe” was YOUR tortured and ilogical explanation for the shooter in Orlando, dumbass. How convenient you don’t remember your own bullshit, born of your own confirmation bias. Rather narcissistic of you to think that my comment was a label I was bestowing on you, don’t you think Mr. Intel officer?

Graybeard

Good morning, Lars.
You say: “Selectivity and confirmation bias is a serious problem.”

In all kindness, I must point out that you exemplify that serious problem quite often.

FWIW, I would be very doubtful if this were reported about Obama. In the lists of his many failures, sexual misconduct has not (yet) appeared AFAIK.

Bill Clinton, however, has displayed early and often his sexual misconduct. As for Hillary, one would at least have to wonder, as she has not shown herself adverse to any type of misconduct.

Ergo, the second sentence of your post is demonstrably false, reinforcing the third sentence of this post.

Ret_25X

its a 4/chan troll.

Teehee. You must enjoy being laughed at or you would do more things which are laudable rather than silly, and incredibly funny.

Eden

I think you really enjoy being a punching bag, Lars. That, and you have absolutely nothing useful to do, so you keep coming back and setting yourself up for more contempt. You can’t possibly believe that you are engaging in serious dialog here that might “enlighten” your adversaries. It’s a sad commentary on your mental and emotional state that you think that negative attention is better than no attention at all. Sucks to be you.

The Other Whitey

Lars, why do you persistently assume that everyone else is like you?

Graybeard

He is channeling Streep in his sleep: “you are like me or you are a worthless POS”…

Veritas Omnia Vincit

When a news source that purports itself to be reputable publishes something that they state is completely unverifiable at this time but we’re publishing it anyway so you can decide for yourself if it’s true or not we can safely assume they know it’s quite likely to be bullshit and thus they are covering themselves.

I suspect you know as well as I do that such a story that was unverifiable would ever be published by Buzzfeed (a hack shop if ever there was one) regarding Obama or Clinton. Their bias is only surpassed by their ability to hire some of the stupidest writers and hacks on the planet.

At the moment it appears that any thing that any shit bag operation on the left side of the aisle can find about the President Elect will be said without regard for the verifiability of the information.

It’s fairly clear the hurt at their loss is so deep, along with the revelation they weren’t accurately predicting anything prior to this election that they all had in the bag for Clinton, that they are now willing to cast any pretense of honorable journalism aside and openly become publishers of propaganda and lies to promote their own agendas.

So much for credibility.

I firmly believe that the Russians probably have information that could be used for blackmail on pretty much every member of the House, Senate, every President and VP back to Jefferson, 90% of the White House staff, a yuuuuge number of present and former ambassadors, most of the leaders in the business world, pretty much anyone of note. So this news really isn’t news. It’s more of a “no shit, Sherlock!” moment.

Commissioner Wretched

Agreed, SFC D.

Now, if you would just stop confusing me with ol’ Lars up there … 🙂

Just kiddin’ with you, Sarge.

First, any news, real or fake, that came out about the DNC and its employees has yet to be refuted as untrue.

Next, let’s say you are Putin for a moment and wanted to influence the outcome of our election. Would you come down on the side of Trump who may stand his ground and take you to task for your policies, or on the side of Clinton, who you know from experience will allow your Russian expansion and antics to go unquestioned and unchallenged?

It is just a bullshit story, from bullshit news outlets, with bullshit logic behind it and in front of it meant to continue the never ending litany of why Clinton lost other than, she is a shit person, with a shitty history and a shit plan for the country’s future.

A Proud Infidel®™

“Shitty History” is RIGHT, let’s not forget the sweetheart uranium deal that Russia got after a lavish donation to the Crook (*OOPS!*, Clinton) Foundation along with the tens of millions donated by ME Kingdoms and Sheikdoms, I wonder if some of the latter don’t want at least a partial refund? I don’t think Hitlery or “Blowjob Willie” will be making any more speeches to say, Goldman Sachs for six figure sums any more!

Pointing and laughing is the most appropriate reaction to people who insist that anyone take their delusions seriously. Ignoring them doesn’t seem to be very effective – they continue to delude themselves that the rest of us care about their feelings. Laughing at them is the easiest way to show them just how irrelevant they are.

LC

I hate when people run with stuff like this without verification. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Even if you think President-elect Trump is the worst human being in the world, the whole ‘women peeing on same bed that the Obamas had’ thing seems awfully unlikely unless that hotel room became a target of the FSB/SVR after the Obama visit. I mean, the Secret Service is hardly going to put POTUS up in a room that’s ‘well-known’ as an intelligence trap. That strains credibility.

Some of the other claims seem more plausible, and I wouldn’t take the notion that Russia has tried to cultivate Trump as an unwitting asset lightly. Spy stuff is rarely, “Hey, want to betray your country?”, it’s often a measure of small degrees that give you a slight strategic advantage. And hopefully people on both sides of the aisle, and Trump himself, can be objective enough to give this a fair analysis and the right amount of caution and thought in policy and interactions with Russia.

11B-Mailclerk

Hey Zampolit! Read LC’s post and reconsider your posting approach. LC wrote something thoughtful. You tend to leave rhetorical farts.

And like an 11 year old boy, you are greatly impressed with your own farts.

The Other Whitey

That’s because LC is a decent, intelligent individual, even if he does swing left. Lars is just a sad little asshole who likes to pretend he’s better and smarter than anyone else.

HMCS(FMF) ret

A -fuckin’- men to that!

11B-Mailclerk

Sorry to hijack your thread LC. It was a teachable moment, and I thought it might provide some guidance to someone so very much in need of a new style guide.

—–

The Russians use Sun Tzu at every level of Military and Intellegence training. The ancient maxim is “Sow disorder in the enemy camp”. They -live- that maxim.

They will do anything short of starting an all-out war to reduce us to a gibbering blob of discord, including inducing a loss of faith in our own rather stable system. People who oppose Trump for reasons stupid or profound seem blind to this, and merrily play along for their own agenda.

The correct answer from both camps should have been “Hey Vlad! Yob off! You and yours are -far- more fragile, so don’t piss us off.”

More troubling: it is starting to look like our -own- intel service(s) are choosing sides this time, in a big way. -That- is the threat, when the bureaucracy and the minions decide to play Pretorian Guard and pick the next Boss.

That did -not- work out well for Rome. But all sides in Rome played that game with deadly seriousness – to the disastrous logical conclusion.

So which will it be folks? Party or Country? Its 1860 again, in a way. Choose wisely how to proceed.

LC

No problem on my end – I agree with Lars on a few things, but his style doesn’t allow for sensible discussion. And frankly I think that’s a huge part of the problem these days. Neither side presents the full truth of things; they present a side that best reflects their interests. You can really only get the full sense of any complicated topic by hearing and discussing both sides. More troubling: it is starting to look like our -own- intel service(s) are choosing sides this time, in a big way. -That- is the threat, when the bureaucracy and the minions decide to play Pretorian Guard and pick the next Boss. On this point I’ll disagree with you. I don’t think the IC has chosen ‘sides’, and further I wish this wasn’t seen as ‘sides’. Again, most issues aren’t black and white – take the DNC hacks, for example. The IC has considerable evidence that breaches into the DNC system were done via Russia. Denying that at this point is, honestly, pretty hard, but if you don’t see it I’m happy to walk through the evidence. They take a position (not a political ‘side’) because that’s what the evidence points towards, and that’s what an IC should do. Go where the evidence leads them. Now this latest document by an ex-MI6 offier is a different story – it’s got a lot of information in it, and some of that information probably doesn’t pass the sniff test, and some seems pretty plausible. Foreign countries take interest in billionaires who visit their country, unsurprisingly. Would Russia try to get compromising material on him? Absolutely. But the question is whether they succeeded, and what that means in Mr. Trump’s case – and there, obviously, the IC has made no pronouncements. As they wouldn’t, since there’s currently no (public) evidence to that effect. In short, the IC is doing what it should – evaluating evidence. If you have examples of them coming to conclusions not supported by evidence, or with better, alternate theories, I’d be interested in hearing them. In my opinion, the concern… Read more »

Maybe I missed the memo somewhere. All the comments seem to ne Trump/Russia. A little bit just now Clinton/Ukrane.

The media is certainly trying to keep it set to Dump Trump, but onw would expect “election tinkering” to include the money trails to Clinton.

The -public- comments seem lopsided on one side.

LC

There are two distinct differences between Clinton and Trump that, regardless of personal feelings, warrant more attention on Trump.

The first is, quite simply, he’s soon to be the President of the United States of America. Clinton has no political presence at this time, and god willing, won’t in the future either. Which deserves more attention, someone holding the highest office in the land, or a political has-been?

The second difference is the nature of the allegations – that Clinton used money given to her foundation for political purposes, or traded ‘face-time’ for donations, or anything like that, versus that a foreign power which has been shown to have disproportionately favor one candidate now may have cultivated that candidate as an asset of influence. The latter is a far more concerning allegation. Basically, someone who is a sell-out (which we sadly expect in our politicians!) vs. someone who is operating, unwilling or not, on behalf of a single enemy state and their strategic goals. Occasional, wide-spread influence vs. singular, concentrated influence.

Now, I’m pretty skeptical of PEOTUS being compromised in any traditional sense, but my personal feelings aside, the above is why Trump/Russia is a larger story than a twice-failed Presidential candidate and the gray-area interplay between her foundation, which unquestionably does a lot of good and seems to be on the up-and-up, and her now-deceased political career.

11b-mailclerk

Ace of spades HQ site has had some interesting posts recently on intel and “deep state” efforts.

You commented on relative differences trump and clinton

1) prior to election, both mattered equally.

2) much of clintons donations, thus possible interest seeking, were foreign, and from relevant countries while she was sec state, not candidate.

David

Regardless of whether the Rooshians were involved in hacking Hilary etc… the release of unsubstantiated accusations is slanderous. To use Lars’ example above – if “we have an unconfirmed report that when the Obamas were on vacation they hired a hooker to do golden showers on Michelle and Barack together – we don’t believe it but we are releasing it for you to decide” ever happened, whoever released that story would likely wind up working for MacDonald’s. Rumors should not be released as news.

LC

As long as we’re not talking about a legal definition of ‘slanderous’, I largely agree (I just don’t know anything about the law, so I’ll not comment on that aspect of it.)

You’re completely right, it shouldn’t have been released. No disagreement there. The ODNI made a press release expressing ‘profound dismay’ that this was leaked, and apparently it was known in Congressional and media circles for months before now. I’d love to know how it was leaked and why not, but I doubt that’ll ever come about.

ODNI release: https://www.dni.gov/index.php/newsroom/press-releases/224-press-releases-2017/1469-dni-clapper-statement-on-conversation-with-president-elect-trump

According to the NY Post, one of the FBI’s sources on this was John McCain – he supposedly was given a copy of the allegations and decided the FBI should hear about it.

Re the allegations themselves – I would be more surprised if the Russians DIDN’T try to influence our elections. And it’s telling that no matter what the source of info on the DNC… no one has said it is false in all this time.

Graybeard

I used to respect John McCain.

He has earned my disrespect, sadly.

It gets better. Apparently, this whole thing has been “out there” in the media for months (at least since August 2015) and the DNC operatives had been shopping the story to a gullible…errr…willing media outlet.

The 4th most despicable man in DC decided he hated Trump more than he liked his credibility (which has been zero for several years) and placed it into the correct hands.

Now for the rest of the story. According to some sources in the DC area, this whole thing was created by a Repugnican back in the Spring of 2015 to get Trump out of the primary, but the megabucks wardaddy paying for it got bored and let it go. A DNC megabuck wardaddy picked it up and found it to be too good to pass up.

Now here we are.

I just don’t get people who say our politicians never get anything done….oh…wait…

It’s a hoax, and both the Washington Post and the New York Times knew it was a hoax before they put the articles to bed last night.

The New York Times slipped up by printing a pre-written article with all of the gory details, updated with a tweet from Trump that was a response, not to the briefing (as implied by their article) but to the release of the whole document by Buzzfeed and CNN, followed by the rebuttal from 4Chan.

Actually, as much as I dislike Trump, I have to say that he seems pretty immune to this sort of thing if only because he’s pretty shameless. I mean, anything that anyone could say bad about him, he has more or less acknowledged.

Womanizer? Check. Ruthless businessman? Check. Business failures? Check. Obnoxious egotist? Check.

So what are they going to try and “reveal” that will somehow embarrass The Donald? Do they have a video of him eating a puppy or ripping the tag off a mattress?

Seems to me the people out to get Trump expended all their ammunition against him during the election and it just bounced off his chest like Superman in an old comic strip.

The American people knew all the skeletons in Trumps closet – hell, he’s lived in a public fishbowl for 30 years – and STILL elected him. What kind of “compromising information” could possibly have any effect now?

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Indeed, no one voting for Trump did so because he represented the most stellar example of our best nature.

They picked Trump as a big FUCK YOU to everyone else including the Republican leadership. There’s a message in there that has very little to do with Trump and everything to do with the leadership of both parties.

It remains to be seen if any of that leadership on either side will get the message, but clearly the electorate has been steadily rejecting the status quo for the last 8 years, no one was really paying attention except the voters as it turns out.

As I stated above, the intels and the minions got involved big time this time. The Pretorian Guard was to safeguard Rome. It destroyed it from within.

I do find it fascinating that the left, which pretty much equated “intelligence service” with “Venerial disease”, for several generations now, has now grabbed on to them for validation.

The culprits should be excised from service, denied clearances, etc. Ideally, impeached by Congress, en mass. The discord they sow, serves foreign enemies, whether they know it or not.

These people all live in their own Casion Royale. Even Fleming knew, you can not Trump the high card.

Idiots.

What is it that Ivan could have on oBaMa and BJ Clinton that would embarrass and potentially compromise either one? In Clinton’s case, he stuck cigars up Monica’s twat and was convicted of lying under oath, to name just two items. In oBaMa’s case, he wasn’t called Bath House Barry for nothing.

2/17 Air Cav

If the lying liar media actually ever have a valid issue regarding Trump, at this point most of the country won’t believe it. It’s called the boy-who-called-wolf effect.

Commissar

The conflicts of interest and the potential for him to use his office for personal gain and business interest are pretty valid.

Commissar

If it were Clinton with these conflicts of interest you would be outraged.

That is a fact.

At least I am consistent. I hate politicians that use their office for profit on BOTH sides of the aisle. I literally see them as traitors.

Which is why I hated Hillary. And why I do not expect Trump to be anything more that a giant self serving shitbag.

You are fine with corruption, and it turn out even stolen valor, as long as it is a republican doing it.

The stories about Trump and conflict of interest would have a lot more weight with me if the media could get the God damn story right. Who owns Trump Resorts and casinos? According to Rachel Maddow, Trump does. They are so eager to decry corruption and conflict of interest they have thrown responsible research out the window, and hence credibility.

Once again, Lars, you are so predictable.

Trump appeared before the media today and it was a scream. Some CNN asshole named Anaconda or something pretty much crapped himself. Trump refused his question but knucklehead kept trying. What exactly is the issue here? Whether this event actually occurred obviously isn’t, so let’s assume that it did. Are Russian mattresses something special? Are Moscow whores a protected class? Have the new rules we learned in the 90’s about sex been rescinded?

What a crock of festering crap. Nothing apparently happened and even if it did, so what? What people do at their own expense in private isn’t really my concern. My concern is the willingness of so many to accept a story as fact with no supporting evidence.

Other than a bunch of delusional fools demanding attention, doesn’t look to me that a story exists, much less a news story.

2/17 Air Cav

You know how this works. Big Media are running with stories from blogs and other sources. The attribution gets overlooked by viewers/listeners/readers and later, when the BS flag is thrown, Big Media says they were merely relating what someone else reported. It’s a game. If CNN reports BS, MSNBC says, “According to a CNN report” or such thing. It’s nothing but a big game to them. They could care less about truth.

Yup. Some folks will serve a foreign tyrant, to help wreck our Nation, rather than live with yet another four-to-eight year cycle of chest-thumping. (Cycle 45, and counting….)

Personally, I think the folks that truly love this Nation, that trust in its principles, its Liberty, are far, far more likely to act with deadly seriousness should the curtain fall on this two plus century experiment in Liberty as Government.

Be careful, those who prefer the house to burn. As has been said, fire is a -terrible- master.

Commissar

Yeah lets all be proud of a president elect that dismisses any accountability by ignoring or shutting down anyone that asks questions he does not want to answer.

Questions of his conflicts of interest or whether there is the possibility of Russians holding compromising information are LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS.

Hillary’s conflicts were a tiny fraction of Trumps.

The question Trump KNEW the reporter was trying to ask was “Can you categorically deny the claims?”.

Trump dodged the question.

Not OK when a democrat does that, why is it suddenly OK when a “republican” does it?

deckie

I take it you’re a huge BuzzFeed fan.

Graybeard

Lars does like the concept of feeding his buzz, judging from past performances.

Commissar

If Trump were a democrat, and he used to be, most of you would believe this story of him liking golden showers in a heartbeat.

I just find it interesting that for many on this board the most important piece of information in determining whether something is true or not is whether the person saying it is a liberal or a conservative.

GDContractor

Underachieving grad student: heal thyself.

Commissar, you have zero credibility when it comes to criticizing confirmation bias. Dipshit.

A Proud Infidel®™

Lars, IMHO whatever degree you’re seeking is a waste of time and money. Your head is filled with so much gobbledygook horse shit Tis not even funny and if you truly believe what you spout you will NEVER make it in the private sector like the vast majority of TAH Regulars have. These days a Vo-Tech School Graduate has at least twice the income potential of a four year graduate whether it’s say, Plumbing, Electrical, Welding or otherwise, those Graduates possess skills that are IN DEMAND while four year college graduates are cheaper by the dozen, ditto with a number of Masters Degrees. If I was to do it all over again I’d go to school to be a Machinist and Millwright and I’d be making even more than I do now as well as have even better income security than I currently do.

rgr769

This guy (and I use the term loosely) is so brainwashed with his proglodyte bullshit that the only full-time employment he will ever have is as a gub’mint functionary of some type where civil service rules will prevent him from being fired. He will never be a productive member of society earning a living. So urging him to do something useful is a waste of keypad time.

Commissar

Since I have consistently demonstrated that I hold potions on both sides of the political spectrum and do not regard EITHER party as being credible your notion that I am brainwashed reveals more about you ignorance than mine.

There are few on this board that don’t mindlessly absorb whatever ridiculous piece of information that confirms their bias.

The dissonance on this board is astounding. Literally, this board has the most brainwashed crowd of any right wing comment section I see and I read several of them.

They even repeatedly regurgitate the ignorant mantra that I am a communist despite the fact that the economic model I think we should use has a market that is MORE free and MORE entrepreneurial than ours. Closer to true capitalism than our model and even the government model I support is more democratic, has more accountability, less corruption, and is more economically sound than the one we have.

And it is not even close to communist.

But that does not matter. Because LABELS and partisan tribalism matters more than actual facts on this board.

Most of these guys are partisan before patriotic. To the point that they worship a Putin loving fascist and even admire Putin’s leadership style.

They would rather we live in a fascist dictatorship than a representative democracy because then the conservatives would “win” the political struggle in America.

rgr769

Then go back to DU and HuffPuff where your fellow travelers hang out. First, anyone who supported the ol’ Socialist is no free marketeer. Second, you live at the UC Berzerkly, where nothing but progressivism and faux communism is tolerated.

The commie, Commissar, was in fine form late last night. I’m sorry I missed his show. He used quite a few Larsfacts I see (e.g., “Hillary’s conflicts were a tiny fraction of Trumps.”) and he has now taken to reading minds to make a point (e.g., “The question Trump KNEW the reporter was trying to ask was….”) As usual, Lars resorted to his Berkeley training and commie mindset by denouncing others for labeling groups while, at the same time, calling us brainwashed and many of us fascists. He even invoked the discredited alt-right label, code for ‘deplorables.’ Sorry I missed his show for it was vintage Lars. Lars has a penchant for defending the indefensible. In that sense, he is, like all communists, both a romantic and a monster.

2/17 Air Cav

I wonder how Commissar came to enlist. I mean, a guy like him sees soldiers as expendable pawns of the ruling class. In a capitalist economy, viewed through the commie lens, war advances the interest of the capitalists. In the military service, there are troops who do the dirty work. These comprise the proletariat. The officer corps is the bourgeoisie who enjoy special rewards and privileges. Next up the Marxian chain are the capitalists, the owners of the war machine who may risk capital but neither life nor limb. That’s the view. Blood for oil and all of that. So, why, I wonder would our resident commie enlist? Did he come in from the fog at Berkeley? Was he enlightened during or after his stint?

Ex-PH2

That is a good question. But he did say some time back that until he signed up, he really hadn’t had much in the way of real-world work experience.

I do find it very disturbing that he refuses to believe that a stated disclaimer, i.e., “this story is fiction”, is real. That doesn’t make any sense.

If you recall Jonathan Swift’s essay ‘A Modest Proposal’, it was a satirical essay meant to stir the populace out of their 18th century coma, and it worked. It was written well enough to be believable, but it was nothing but fiction, meant to draw attention to a very real problem.

In this case, not believing a disclaimer on fictional ‘news’ stories means that there really is a deep level of disconnect from reality with Commissar, deeper than any of us have realized.

Maybe we should feel a little sorry for him.

But did you ever read that Duffel Blog article about detainees at Girmo getting GI Bill Rights? Mitch McConell fell for that and started a congressional investigation over it.

I would love to get that reaction to something I wrote.

LC

4chan says lots of things – it’s like the proverbial million monkeys on a million keyboards. That said, I kept an open mind originally, but now I’m heavily leaning towards the 4chan poster being full of it, or it being an utter, unspecific -really, the original 4chan post wasn’t very detailed- coincidence.

Basically, their version of events claimed it went from Wilson to McMullin to McCain, and not only has Wilson denied any connection to this, but it leaves out the role of Steele – who, I’ll point out, is a highly regarded professional and former head of the Russia desk at MI6. The timeline is also problematic, since the 4chan user hasn’t said when he told Wilson this info, but only posted about it after the story broke… yet the intelligence document about this was dated in late summer.

Since I’m considered a liberal here, though, let me post a conservative article that covers some of these points:
https://heatst.com/politics/no-4chan-didnt-make-buzzfeeds-intelligence-report-on-donald-trump/

Now, is it possible a 4chan user sent Wilson a message, which he denies, but that message somehow found its way into a network of contacts by a well-connected ex-MI6 officer to filter back into a report that eventually gets the attention of the media? Yes, possible. But given the lack of a known connection between Steele and Wilson, the lack of definitive information in the 4chan post, and Steele’s considerable experience and reputation, I really think the benefit of the doubt should go to the ex-MI6 officer, not the anonymous person on 4chan.

Let’s see what unfolds over the next few weeks.

Commissar

What is exactly did CNN report on this issue that was not absolutely true?
http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/10/politics/donald-trump-intelligence-report-russia/index.html

The Trump team is misdirecting and you guys are being duped like cats chasing a laser pointer.

ex-OS2

CNN reports news?

Eden

“The allegations were presented in a two-page synopsis that was appended to a report on Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump.”

CNN got duped by something that was MADE UP out of whole cloth by 4chan trolls to make NeverTrump mouthpiece Rick Wilson look stupid. Wilson bought the story, hook, line, and sinker, and gave it to the CIA, who also took the bait, and put it in their official classified intelligence report on Russian involvement in the election. They apparently concluded that the Russians planned to blackmail Trump with this story, but the whole thing is a HOAX from start to finish!

And yet you believe the CNN report. How stupid can you be, Lars? Yet again, you’re so predictable.

Commissar

Actually, they confirmed that this briefing CNN reported happened. And CNN did not report the content of the briefing. The president confirmed the briefing occurred as did the Trump team. What is unknown is the content of the briefing.

CNN did not report the content. The content was leaked by BUZZFEED not CNN.

The CNN report is accurate. It is the Buzzfeed report that is controversial and that has not been confirmed.

And there is LITERALLY ZERO EVIDENCE that 4 chan made this up or had anything to do with it. That is an alt-right fabrication.

Right now there is ZERO public evidence the report is true and zero public evidence the report is fake.

So when we talk about people being stupid for believing something perhaps you should consider what evidence you have of your belief.

I personally have yet to make any decision as to what I believe with regard to the report. What I KNOW to be true is that CNN’s report is factually accurate. A briefing detailing that the Russians may have compromising information on Trump DID occur. And both Trump and President Obama attended that briefing.

That is the only thing that has been CONFIRMED to be true.

rgr769
