Cetin tried to buy another gun minutes before Mall shooting
The Seattle Times reports that Turkish-born Arcan Cetin who killed five people with .22 caliber rifle in the Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington, had gone to a gun shop minutes before his shooting rampage in an attempt to buy a .45 caliber handgun.
Cetin, she said, came through the door and asked her “If we have .45s and stuff,” referring to a popular and powerful handgun caliber. “I mean, yeah, we have ‘stuff.’ It just didn’t feel right.”
Cetin was referred to a store sales representative, Dawn said, where he almost immediately began asking about background checks. When he was told he would have to undergo one no matter what, Dawn, said, “he sort of puffed up the way men do when you tell them, ‘No.’ ”
Cetin, she said, asked about buying a firearm at a gun show, but was told that under Washington law every firearm transaction — even those between private individuals — requires an instant background check.
Dawn said that once Cetin was told in no uncertain terms that a check would be conducted, he “just walked out of the store.”
The owner told the reporter that they had already decided that they weren’t going to sell him a gun because of a “feeling”. Good instincts, Dawn.
According to the article, Cetin was under a court order that forbade his possession of a firearm and that might have been sufficient if it popped up on the background check – but nothing is a given when it comes to NICS. We’ve seen a number of shooters who shouldn’t own guns, but had them despite evidence to the contrary.
The first line of defense is firearms dealers. Funny how the Times isn’t making a big deal about how he finally got his hands on a gun. It appears that he stole his father’s gun. But, the fact remains that current gun laws were sufficient to prevent him from creating a bigger mess in his hunt for his ex-girlfriend.

Never confuse liberals with the facts, it will cause a TBI and result in a lawsuit.
So DESPITE a Judge’s order AND the NICS he STILL got ahold of a gun to go berserk with. Funny how all the Gun Control laws in the World are WORTHLESS in many cases, just look at the shootings in Europe as well as Mexico and U.S. Cities like Chicago. I wonder how soon Hilery, the Hillarrhoids and the left will start blaming the NRA for this? let’s remember that the cowardly little SHIT IS a Hillarrhoid himself, may he be Bubba & Thor’s BITCH every night he spends behind bars!
That’s about what I expected him to do. Little bitch boy blocked me on Twitter after I dared to ask him what new laws would have prevented one of the more recent shootings.
Who? Did he do something memorably constructive?
Wil Wheaton, best known for playing Wesley Crusher on Star Trek:The Next Generation, and Dr. Sheldon Cooper’s nemesis Wil Wheaton on The Big Bang Theory.
In other words,
“No”
Live long and suck it, Wesley!
He would take that as a welcome invitation.
Shut up, Wesley!

Why do people expect actors – who earn their living reciting words other people write, and pretending to be what they obviously are not – to actually know anything?
Now the actors have lived in fantasy-land so long I’m not surprised to find that they think they know something worthwhile – but those with street experience? Why is anyone fooled by these hypocrites?
Some “celebrities” actually have some knowledge and an educated opinion. Maybe less than 1% of them. I would love to see a gun control debate, live tv, Tom Selleck and Wil Wheaton.
In all fairness, I have to agree. Some “celebrities” actually have educated opinions and real-life experience upon which to build those opinions.
But as a class they talk through their azz.
For the live tv, no breaks gun control debate, how about Wee Willy Wheaton and Ted Nugent or Clint Eastwood?
The US Military is composed of uneducated minorities with no opportunities beyond being used as cannon fodder by the Republican Military Industrial Complex in their never ending quest to exploit the natural resources of Third World Nations, and should immediately be disbanded, according the enlightened Hollywood elite. Except for when a Hollywood celebrity, who just happened to star in a military themed movie that has no relation to how the military works, decides that he has the knowledge and authority to testify before Congress demanding that the US Military intervene in the internal turmoil of a country that he has shown an interest in. At that point, they become noble warriors defending the helpless.
Sounds like libtards are going to try to spin this as universal background checks work.
Even though he’s not a U.S. citizen, Cetin voted in 3 elections in Washington state. Because proof of citizenship isn’t needed.
So, he couldn’t get his hands on a gun, legally, but he could vote, illegally.
I don’t want to disagree with you, but can you put up a link to that? Having some evidence from a credible source would be great for some recent Washington residents in the family.
OK, I was going by the story that KING 5 put out originally. I see, from the link to the article that The Al linked to, that they’ve corrected their original report. What still jumps out is this, “While voters must attest to citizenship upon registering online or registering to vote at the Department of Licensing Office, Washington state doesn’t require proof of citizenship. Therefore elections officials say the state’s elections system operates, more or less, under an honor system“.
According to the feds, he is, in fact, a naturalized citizen: http://www.king5.com/news/local/investigators-may-probe-cascade-mall-suspects-citizenship-status-voting-record/327490798
So how come the rules for ID for exercising the constitutional right to buy a gun are not the same for exercising the constitutional to vote?
Because democrats love voter fraud. It benefits them every time.
I’ll vote Republican until the day I die. After that, I’ll probably vote Democrat.
You’ll probably vote Democrat, early, and often.
Should we just ban people from having relationships since they can cause such emotional problems in people’s lives?
