Alvin Long; Marine Force recon, Army Special Forces phony

| September 22, 2016

Alvin Long2

Folks at Green Beret Posers Exposed sent us a tip on this Alvin Long character. He claims to have been a Marine Force Recon operator and then his wife made him quit, but she was fine with him going on to be an Army Special Forces operator. He claims six combat deployments and six Purple Hearts to match. Here you can hear him tell it in this video;

Part of his story is true, but not enough of it. He spent four years in the Marine Corps from 1959 – 1963 – none of it in any Recon units. Most of it was spent on dry land in California. He went into the Army National Guard from August 1963 – March 1964, then he went into the Army March 1965 – March 1981, not as a special forces operator, but as a truck driver. He did three tours of Vietnam as a truck driver, then he became an MP. No jump school, no special forces training.

His family says that he kept his lies to himself until his wife died recently and then he busted out, first making himself a Master Sergeant until he unilaterally promoted himself to sergeant major;

Yea, what a tool. Any asshole can shoot a gun. It takes skill to drive a truck.

All the Glory without the hard work to achieve it.

CB Senior

Is it really true that the Army shrinks your head like that?

PhukYoCouch

Damn. And his service just wasn’t enough. Sad.

sj

3 Nam tours? Damn. That wasn’t enough. I’d buy him a beer just for that.

OldManchu

Hand it to me after you buy it and I’ll pour it over his head for crapping on his fine service.

J.T

Exactly what I was thinking, I think dead wife= reliving past to get positive attention.

Hondo

Geez. VSM with campaign stars for nearly 1/2 (eight!) of the 17 recognized campaigns. And that apparently STILL wasn’t enough.

Yet another guy with honorable wartime service who had to p!ss all over it via lying about being some kind of “great war hero” because what he actually did wasn’t “good enough”. Sad. Just freaking sad.

I wOnDeR iF hE tYpEs LiKe SoMe 12-YeAr-OlD gIrL tHrOwInG a HiSsY fIt, ToO?

I’m surprised he didn’t add a few Boy Scout Merit Badges for good measure.

These turds never learn.

Ex-PH2

All that real service, but he’s wasted an astonishing amount of money on being an asshole.

SUCH. A. JERK.

Skippy

Old School Posser…
If you live in the inner city folks that would be OG
welcome to TAH you crazy ole turd…
?????

Skippy

Spell check… Posser should have been poser

John Robert Mallernee

You’d think a genuine honorably retired Army NCO would know better than to put the Ranger tab on his right shoulder.

AnotherPat

JRM, as with other phonies or those with low self-esteem/chemical imbalances in the brain, in Alvin Long’s mind and thinking process, he most likely believes he is entitled to wear medals/ribbons and rank that he never rightfully earned.

His family and possibly others see it, but he does not.

Blaster

True. Also the ranger tab is in the wrong position on BOTH sides. The Drill Instructor ID badge is in the wrong location, and I don’t see a parachutist badge, but if it’s under his collar, it’s also in the wrong place. I haven’t studied his monstrosity of a uniform any closer that that, but I’ll bet there’s more.

He was impressive before he went stoooppid!

Blaster

Oh yeah, he has the POW/MIA medal, not sure if we can count that one because all posers have it!?

Sapper3307

Those photos look like the costume isle at Walmart.

A Proud Infidel®™

IMHO it looks more like he’s trying to impersonate some South American Generalissimo Dictator! Is that a Drill Sergeant’s badge on his left side?

13B/92S/O2M

I kind of looks like the Army Career Counselor badge ….guess he was the unit retention NCO

13B/92S/O2M

In the picture of him sitting .

Mike W.

Oh no no no ! That’s a silver Recruiter Badge ! ! Man, those things are EXPENSIVE to buy !
I think he just bought one of EVERYTHING and the school fairy blessed him one sunny day !

2/17 Air Cav

This one is of the sort that makes me cringe and look for some out for the guy. His being old carries no weight unless he’s off his nut between age and the loss of his wife. I like to think that he was given the opportunity to end the charade before it went public. And I must say that the fact that he had not one, not two, but three tours in VN, all at a time when no MOS was safe, influences me tremendously. That’s all I have. I hope he just puts his doctored uniforms away and realizes that three VN tours puts him in a very small group of RA soldiers who weren’t in one of the sexy and high-risk outfits.

Graybeard

I’m hoping he’s just off his nut too, 2/17.

A lot of honorable service, defecated all over by some fictional war stories.

Sad.

Skippy

Dementia for shure I hope
?☹️?☹️?

Hondo

I would certainly hope so, Skippy. But in the video Jonn linked, he certainly seems to be “all there” mentally to me. I could be wrong.

Skippy

Just saw the video. His feet are firmly on the ground.
and he knows what he is doing…

A Proud Infidel®™

If that’s the case than FA’ KHEEM!!

Graybeard

I’m going to have to trust y’all on the video. And since as Jonn says below his own family has tried to get him to stop the BS…

Welcome to the world of exposed poseurs, SSgt. Feel the humiliation come rollin’ down on your head – and know you brought it on yourself.

HMCS(FMF) ret

You’re right, Hondo… he’s sounds like he’s “with it”. Look at the expression on his face when he talks about his “service”, he hast to think for a sec to make sure he’s keeping his story straight, then tells the interviewer.

My guess is that his deceased wife kept his ass in check for years – with her death, he’s now running with his lies and bullshit.

Three tours in Vietnam and served to retirement… shitting away honorable service to be a John Rambo.

Sad….

john

Obviously you inconsiderate dicks probably have no service time you were never hauled around nam in a truck? Drivers had it as bad as sny huey did in an lz. Let him die in peace. You never bullshitted on a barstool?

Claw

“Drivers had it as bad as sny(sic) huey in an lz.”

I’m listening. I’m waiting for you to tell me more about your time in Vietnam as a truck driver.

I’m one of the “inconsiderate dicks” you say obviously have no service time and am here to tell you that my time on being in a Huey in an LZ in Vietnam to being hauled around in a truck in Vietnam is probably about 1000 to one.

So, please, tell us more. I’ve got lots of time and a big stock of popcorn already all popped up.

So, what say you? Care to elaborate?

And No. I have never bullshitted on a barstool. Never have. Never will.

ex-OS2

Popcorn? Did someone say popcorn?

A Proud Infidel®™

I was just a yard ape by the time Vietnam was over with, but I DID my AD time in the early nineties, came back in after a NINE YEAR break in service and did my time in A-stan doing Convoy Escorts. I did my time outside the wire, that’s only ONE of my THREE overseas tours, so put THAT in your soup bowl and EAT IT, Shinola-head!

Mick

john:

Please be advised that Alvin Long’s documented history of prancing around in a U.S. Army uniform while displaying unearned rank insignia, phony personal combat/valor awards, and unearned Army qualification tabs goes far beyond merely “bullshitting on a barstool”. He’s engaging in Stolen Valor.

By the way, I’m a U.S. Marine, so by definition I am an “inconsiderate dick”. So you’re going to have to do much better than that if you’re going to try to insult guys like me.

And just like Claw, no, I have never “bullshitted on a bar stool”. Never have. Never will.

jarhead

Ditto for this Marine who had PLENTY of time on ground in RVN. USMC 1811 (tanks) and thirty two months total at that. What goes on today in “Stan” is likely more exposure to the Motor T folks since so many road sweeps are involved. In Nam, NOT the case. Sure the MOS was admirable and not without respect. But no competent person would compare driving a truck to ESPECIALLY Huey pilots, of all people. This John character brings back a nearly-forgotten day when I was just leaving RVN for the second and last time. Some candy ass looking retard was telling the rest of of home bound dudes how he had just killed his 47th (I think that is the exact number he used) gook the day before. One of those on board asked him what his MOS was. When he said Motor T, we pretty much told him to shut the hell up, sit down and don’t say another word on that jet. If a person has to compare their so-called combat record to an MOS that was self-proven….that person is full of shit up to his eye balls. Be happy with what you did loser. Don’t make it out to be the combat hero Alvin Long wants to be. BTW, ALVIN, get your chipmunk ass back in your cage with the little roll around wheel and shut the hell up!
For what it’s worth, John you are a fucking IDIOT/RETARD for calling ANYBODY on this web site an “inconsiderate dick with no service time”. Get back to your G I Joe and Barbie doll set and have her jerk him off over a road mine.

Christine Adams

Usually the true heroes don’t have to brag. If anything they play down their service like they were just one of the guys. They all say, the true heroes didn’t come home. Never knew how decorated my brother was until he died. He volunteered for 2 tours in Vietnam. He died at 50. Suffered from agent orange and had terrible PTSD but often struggled with the fact that he was a Catholic going in but felt that God would never forgive him for the things he had to do. He didn’t talk about it but guys that served with him did. They said he was the reason a lot of guys made it home. Watching the interviews of the men of Easy Company for Band of Brothers. They all say the same thing. Dick Winters probably said it best when asked by his grandson if he was a hero. He said “No, but I served in a company of heroes”. All who serve their country are honorable. Stolen valor is a shameful stain on that service and the man who is saying it’s no big deal is probably saying because he tells stories on a bar stool so is justifying his own actions by justifying this posers. To all who served. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. My son is currently on Parris Island entering his 6th week. I couldn’t be more proud that he’s choosing to serve his country given what colleges are putting out these days. Young kids who seem to feel it’s ok to disrespect their country. It’s sad and I’m glad my kids appreciate the service of those before them.

ex-OS2

Well put, thank you.

Graybeard

I remember when my son graduated Basic that the CO told the parents there that his son was currently deployed, and said:
“I can tell you, it is harder to be the family member of a deployed soldier than it is to be deployed yourself.”

Wherever your son winds up, connect with the family resource group for his unit. Even long distance (we were in Texas, his family resource group was in Ft. Lewis) they will help you out.
God bless you and your son.

Frankie Cee "In the Clear"

As stated before me, RE: bullshitting on a barstool, Never have, Never will. but your assumption that others do it is probably rooted in your own “Bullshitting on a Barstool”. What stories did you tell? Did that help you to get a round bought for you? Did some little, “no-knowing chick” slide her panties down for a “hero”? When one has the self-esteem to stand on his own merits, “Bullshitting on a Barstool” isn’t necessary.
Never have, never will, and I have no combat time to brag about. My service time was sufficient to prove to me that I could, would, and wanted to.

2/17 Air Cav

His own family? I hope he rewrites his will. I’m sorry to learn that.

Ex-PH2

I’m sorry to hear this, too. He should know better, especially if he’s not mentally impaired.

Mick

A-ha; now I see what happened here. I was wondering how someone managed to penetrate his lair and obtain those photos of that impressive array of stunning poser costumes hanging in his closet.

Things must’ve been getting way, way out of control for his own family to decide to drag him in here for the Team TAH treatment.

Sj

Wish a disbarred lawyer’s family would do that.

A Proud Infidel®™

Word has it that critter’s family disowned him some time ago including his own daughter in whose name he bought and registered the plane he wrecked.

Skippy

??????????

HMCS(FMF) ret

Pretty bad when the family is sending your the info on him, Jonn. IICR, it’s not the first time family has sent G-2 on a poseur to you.

Ex-PH2

It looks to me like he had four tours in-country Vietnam, not three, before he returned permanently to the US.

I don’t know what would be so low rent about being a truck driver over there. The VC mined the roads over there, just like the bad guys in ME do now. The US didn’t get control of ‘Highway One’ for some time because of those homemade mines.

So how is that not important enough? I’m just trying to understand here.

Ex-PH2

Here’s a picture from back then.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/ocean_rick/4889699372/

So what was not dangerous about driving the roads in Vietnam? Somebody please let me know, okay?

LiRight

I commented on the youtube page for the video:

After listening to this man and hearing him be so definitive and lucid in his answers…..I’m convinced that he’s got a serious emotional/mental breakdown going on. Perhaps the death of his wife brought on whatever is going on in his brain.

How does one go from serving honorably for so many years and then when his wife passes he starts with these BS stories? How old is he? Late 70’s, early 80’s?

Hondo

FOIA reply says he first joined the ARNG in Oct 1957. Assuming he was 18 at the time, that makes him around 77 today, give or take a year.

Ex-PH2

My guess would be that his wife knew what he actually did and kept him in check. When she passed away, the check was off.

Dapandico

This is just sad and pathetic, not much else to say…

Tony180a

Of course your Airborne tab goes above your Ranger tab. They don’t call cadence to wanting to be a Ranger Airborne. I wondered if this was an instance of age related mental issues but after watching the video he seems to rattle off this bullshit in true poser form.

Green Thumb

Retired SSG = Low Speed.

Wow.

What a shitbag. Alvin “Long Tales”.

I could see this turd working in the gift shop at All-Points Logistics.

Commissar Poodle

Generally, but not always. Often in the guard or reserve a promotion is locked due to no nearby position at the higher grade. So unless you want to travel a substantial distance to another unit you are locked in at you current grade. Since they are only getting paid for 4 “days” the prorated difference between E-6 and E-7 is usually far less than the cost of time and travel to the other unit.

So continuing as an E-6 is more net pay than E-7 and can make financial sense.

Plus back then units were as much social clubs as military units so leaving also meant leaving your weekend social circle.

Claw

Just what does this comment about guards or reserves have to do with a retired soldier that spent his entire 20 years, one week of service on active duty in the Regular Army?

Did you even look at the DD214 or 2-1 Record of Assignment?

And just what would you know about units back then? You were, what, maybe 10 or 11 years old when he retired?

How about a little reading comprehension next time.

Claw

Oops, Mea Culpa.

He did do four years active duty as a Marine, so not all 20 years, one week as regular Army.

Ex-PH2

Wow. Here’s ol’ Lars the Poodle making comments without reading the materials.

1 – Long spent his 20++ years on ACTIVE DUTY, NOT in the Reserves.

2 – He had multiple tours IN-COUNTRY in Vietnam and he was not assigned to the same unit every time. I don’t see any ‘do one and run’ in his record.

3 – CLAW is right: you’re wrong as usual, poodle. Try reading for comprehension of material and subject matter before you comment.

Commissar Poodle

Oops, my mistake. I misread his transfer into the army from the guard as one into the army reserve since that is far more common as transfer.

I projected a false assumption into the words I read.

Thanks for pointing it out.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Commissar Poodledicski doesn’t understand the concept of RIF… Reading Is Fundamental.

Claw

Oh, and Nick, Thumb is correct when he says Low Speed.

Retiring right at just a week over 20 years with 12 years Time In Grade on E-6 just screams ROAD (Retired On Active Duty) with an industrial grade case of hemorrhoids to me.

Why was he never picked up for E-7 in all that time? The answer seems pretty obvious to me. How about you?

Martinjmpr

I’m not sure about that. I joined up in 1980 and it actually wasn’t that unusual to see a Staff Sergeant (E-6) with a combat patch from Vietnam.

Remember that just like now there was a massive drawdown after Vietnam. Promotions weren’t easy to come by. I’m not saying he was “NCO of the Quarter” material but neither would I say that retiring as an E-6 marks him as a slacker.

Could be he got to his 17 or 18 year mark and then at that point figured “why should I compete for E-7 when I know that as soon as I hit my 20 I’m out?”

The fact that he retired in 81 which was at the end of the “hollow army” era also may be a factor. Between the lousy pay and benefits, crap equipment and rampant drug use in the ranks, staying in and/or competing for a higher rank wouldn’t have been a very attractive option for many career NCOs.

Hondo

Concur. From what I saw, mid/late 1970s to about the end of 1981 or so . . . royally sucked due to post-Vietnam drawdown and the Carter idiocy. Promotions were slow, and other conditions (readiness, pay, morale, living/working conditions) were bad as well. Can’t speak for the early 1970s from being there, but I from talking to folks and growing up around a major Army installation I got the impression the early 1970s weren’t a whole lot better as and after Vietnam wound down.

Plus, I believe his record only shows 4 Army GCMs, plus 1 USMC. With 16 years Army service, he should have 5 Army GCMs. I’m thinking that being a bit of a “wild child” might have cost him a stripe while younger – maybe more than once. Wasn’t uncommon in the late 1970s/early 1980s to see E6s with Article 15s in their records from early in their career.

Had a couple of such SSGs in one of my units when I was a youngster. Good NCOs, knew their business – but their past indiscretions nearly kept both from making E7. As I recall, both finally did but kinda late (at around 17 years, as I recall).

Had another SSG in that same unit that I’d guess probably retired as an E6 for good reason. Let’s just say he wasn’t exactly a “world-beater”. (smile)

Claw

Yes Sir. I see what you’re saying MJ. Maybe I spent too many years in Divisional Combat Arms units and saw go-getter NCOs make “Seven in Seven” and had my vision skewed by that. And Yes, I was on active duty (71-91) during the period we’re talking about, so I’m well cued in on the bad times.

It just struck me as a little strange that Long made it up to E-6 within four years of going on active duty in the Army and then spent the remaining 12 years until retirement as an E-6. That just seemed to me as being stagnant service.

But it very well could (not making E-7) have something to do with physical condition(s) (maybe permanent profiles) after being medevaced twice and spending time at Letterman General Hospital after each medevac.

Lots of different factors could have come into play, but embellishing a large part of his career years later, is still a No-Go in my book.

Thanks for putting me back on track.

Green Thumb

I stand by my comment.

Retired E-6 (outside of medical)= Low Speed. Or possible shitbag based on conduct issue over the course of the career.

Gheesh.

But what do I know? I was Infantry.

thebesig

Alvin long, what say you?

Hondo

And since Alvin “Chipmunk” Long here played the “Vietnam POW” card (his ribbon rack above is sporting the POW ribbon), let me debunk that lie completely.

DPAA maintains lists of those POW’s who returned alive from SEA; those who escaped enemy captivity and returned to US control; and those who MIAs/POWs who have been accounted for (the combination of the first two lists plus those whose remains have been recovered and identified). ANYONE who was ever held captive by enemy forces in SEA and returned alive appears on two of those lists – the “accounted for” list plus either the escapee or returnee lists.

http://www.dpaa.mil/portals/85/Documents/VietnamAccounting/pmsea_returnee.pdf

http://www.dpaa.mil/portals/85/Documents/VietnamAccounting/pmsea_escapee.pdf

http://www.dpaa.mil/portals/85/Documents/VietnamAccounting/pmsea_acc_p_name.pdf

There is no “Alvin Henry Long” listed on any of those three lists.

No one with the last name “Long” was an escapee in SEA.

Only two individuals with the last name “Long” returned alive as POWs from Vietnam. These were SP4 Julius Wollen Long, Jr, USA, taken prisoner on 12 May 1968 and released by North Vietnam on 16 March 1973; and 1LT Steven G. Long, USAF, taken prisoner on 28 February 1969 and released by North Vietnam on 28 March 1973.

Two other individuals with the last name of “Long” have been accounted for from Vietnam. These individuals were A1C George Wendell Long, USAF, and Capt Carl Edwin Long, USMC. They became MIA on 12 May 1968 and 20 December 1969, respectively. Their remains were returned in the early 1990s; these remains were formally identified on 14 May 2008 and 3 May 2004 respectively.

Unless this guy is “losing it”, this lying bastard can kiss my ass. He’s NOT a freaking POW from Vietnam.

JimV

Poor old guy. I think I would have some compassion for him. A number of our older hospitalized veterans at the VA are not thinking real clearly as well.

This reminds me of a soldier I met while conducting some training for the Texas Army National Guard. He was an older guy (had a break in service). His fellow soldiers would call him “Pappy.”

It kind of shocked me hearing that kind of informality, but this was the National Guard. I later found out that he had been a switchboard operator during WWII with General Patton. Wow!

I assume he was trying to get twenty good years in service for retirement before he was forced out. This was back in the 1980’s.

RIP Pappy

Hondo

Watch the video, JimV. It might change your mind.

Sparks

“Back then we called them Black ops” he said. That’s cause now we call them what, Red Ops, Pink Ops?

And yes folks there it is again! A second award of the CIB! Never F’in fails. The guy did three tours in country and that’s a lot in my book. Nothing to be ashamed of and plenty to be proud of and yet, he still has to go all High Speed, Low Drag Shitbag all over us.

Graybeard

He was thinking dark-Shiite-brown Ops – which is what he is doing.

Ex-PH2

I think he had four tours, Sparks, unless I misread his record history.

My father did two tours in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee. He told me multiple times growing up he couldn’t make E-7 since when he was E-2 he punched an officer who was yelling at him. Every time he took the test another person got the E-7 slot since they had a cleaner record.

Now my father is in his 80s. He recently lied to me and told me he was E-8 when he retired and if he had been in the reserves he would have been E-9. I just looked at him and shook my head. If he dares to try anything like this I’ll try and shut him down before he ends up on TAH. I think maybe he lied since it makes him feel better about himself.

Skippy

Well since I’m in what my daughter calls a “care bear” mood I’m going to repost a post from another page
So hear it is…
———————
My Dad, Step Dad and four of my uncles served in Vietnam only recently the last four years two of my uncles have started talking to me about what they experienced over there… it’s their blood, sweat, and tears that made my experience what it is. And being able to see most of my brothers and sisters came home.. I have a ton of respect for anyone that served over there and served back then.. why someone with a service record like this need to embellish it is beyond me. But in a since we are all family, I’ll do what ever it takes to help a older brother see the light and be proud of what he has done..
——
And that’s all

Martinjmpr

You know I’d love to jump on the dogpile but where stolen valor usually makes me angry this just makes me sad.

I guess Long sounds lucid in the video but I don’t think that’s necessarily any kind of proof that he isn’t suffering from dementia or some other mental illness (psychosis of some kind?)

I’m more inclined to pity the guy in his jacked-up uniform telling crazy stories that, I’m assuming, virtually nobody believes. “There goes grandpa again, telling fake stories about being a Green Beret” accompanied by a roll of the eyes.

He’s not trying to get “free stuff” and he’s not trying to use his fake military service to get out of some legal jam he got himself in.

As Jonn and/or Hondo is fond of saying, he served at a time when most in his generation didn’t, and 3x VN tours tells me that at least two of those were volunteer tours he didn’t have to take.

Wasn’t it Shakespeare who said “Time makes fools of us all?”

Maybe I’m a softie for old folks but I’d probably just smile and shake his hand and then walk away, thinking “There but for the grace of God…”

And I can only hope that when I get to be that age that I’m not throwing on a whole uniform catalog and telling stories about time I capped Bin Laden between the eyes. 😉

Sj

Well said

Graybeard

Yeah.

11B-mailclerk

I remember a fragment of a cadence, that included the line:

Once a man, and twice a child.

Sooner or later, if we don’t croak of a heart attack, stroke, cancer, etc, the brain will wear out, and we will end our years in that second childhood.

Y’all remember the afternoons when we -were- Cowboys, and SuperSoldiers, and Space Explorers, and such? Then we grew up and went to work.

I have watched dementia slowly steal a loved ones mind, like a thief in the night, and another that was gone in a handful of tramatic events.

I can’t very well tell the crazy from the evil anymore. The guys with an otherwise clean but unspectacular life, who gets weird near the end, is probably far closer to crazy than evil.

Proposal: measure the actual harm versus the annoyance value, and respond at the suitable level. Is the subject ripping off widows and orphans? Or just telling whoppers to no particular purpose?

With actuarial certainty, some of us, sadly, are going to be a lot more than “slightly confused” before the final curtain call.

Believer or not, there is some real value to that “Judge as you would be judged” bit from the J-man.

Graybeard

Well said, 11B

Semper Idem

Yanno…call me morbid, but I really do hope that when my time comes, I’ll die in that second childhood. At least I’ll leave the world the same way I came in – innocent and happy.

Perry Gaskill

Ooooooo… black ops. Kinda gives you a Rambo boner doesn’t it?

It’s difficult to tell what went on with Long in RVN because the assignment list is missing dates and MOS info. What seems to have happened is that he went in country four times but two of the normal one-year tours were cut short. He was apparently a medevac and ended up in Letterman Hospital at the Presidio of San Francisco. Since the records don’t show a purple heart, the hospital stays could be for a variety of reasons.

What also seems apparent is that Long actually did serve as an MP while in country. His last assignment was with the 300th MP Co. which was primarily concerned with security at the Port of Saigon.

Something that might not always be clear about the whole multiple tour thing is that, at least in my experience, most of the people who did extra tours were extending their time from one tour into another without going through the process of DEROS. It’s probably also true that while some might have been those who liked to kick ass, there were likely as many who simply found a semi-comfortable niche someplace and decided to stick around.

Sj

Ive said VN was the best assignment i had cause wss in i2 and 101 and served with fine troopers. But, i was also married with a kid. If single i would have tried to stsy/go back.

Sad fucker. Doesn’t even have his MP regimental crest on that costume he’s wearing. Dipshit

jarhead

C’mon now..the guy appears absolutely lucid in the video link; although it does seem odd that he licks his lips after answering many of the questions in the beginning. Almost as if a “tell”. USMC Black Ops in 1961. Second question asked, “How many TOURS did you spend in combat:” His answer, not tours, but “Six years” Kinda makes a person wonder how that is a logical answer. He was in Green Beret Posers Exposed..does that not send a message loud and clear? Said his wife told him to get out of the USMC because he was gone so much. So what did she think after all those consecutive trips back to RVN?
Dog handler, M P, truck driver…this guy’s all over the place.
Four years in USMC, two years Army National Guard, followed by 16 years Regular Army. How does that equate to ten hash marks?
He’s an old timer, full of shit, seeking to be recognized as SOMEBODY IMPORTANT while he is still alive, wears a size XXX uniform that could never have fit, and tops it off with the Michael Jackson glove on his left hand. If he can get up and do the Michael Jackson “Thriller” dance routine without stopping to wheeze, then I’m all in for believing him. My Sympathy Meter is showing LOW for this guy.

O. K., let’s just have a parade for him and invite all the rest of the posers on this site. October 31st would be an appropriate day for that parade.

I don’t understand this need to tell tall tales, either, and it’s possible that his wife kept him from making up stories like he does. It doesn’t excuse the nonsense. I am willing to cut a geezer some slack, but this whole embellishment of a 20+ year service isn’t due to mental impairment.

It’s a need to get extra attention, especially when his own family has tried to get him to stop it. They know the real story, and his wife did, too. I doubt that he’ll stop just because he’s getting pounded here at TAH. It’s attention that he wants, and he’s getting it. He’d have been better off writing his memoirs about missing Charlie’s mines on the roads he drove.

Le me clear about something. This guy lied about his military career. He claimed to be in units with which he never served. He claimed a rank he never achieved. I get all of that. I also watched the video and I see the “tells” that jarhead referred to as well. In other words, I believe he is aware he is lying. Maybe there is a history of this with this guy but, as I understand it, the bullshit came after his wife passed. In that case, he is a very, very late bloomer as posers go. Old ones usually have a lengthy history of lying and of getting away with it, sometimes for decades before being nailed. This guy is different to me. He had a military career. He served at least three tours in VN and he looks every day of his age and then some. His lies are now exposed and I hope this ends it.

This guy can kiss my ass. He is so full of shit I gagged watching that video.

Diminished capacity my ass. He has been doing this for a long, long, time. He was so mentally incapacitated that he ordered those uniform, the medals, the rank, the tabs and patches and pins all by himself.

As is most always the case, these idiots start off with small embellishments and just keep adding to them over the years. Even if he was now suffering from some form of dementia I could give a shit less. He did all this long before any of that mattered.

He is just a piece of shit, aged, lair, and quilty of Stolen Valor in my eyes.

He is lucky his family got involved. He should be grateful they did. I am. It stops me from having to piss on another grave.

That uniform was tailored for Lou Ferrigno…

That or it was done for “Heavy Chevy” by the Eureka Tent Company!

I was thinking those uniforms in the closet were the hand-me-downs from Arnon “Sonny” Cool after Sonny got the new style ASU.

After all, both Cool and Long embellished their ranks after retirement, as well as having completely interchangeable ribbon and badge racks.

Yep, Long and Cool. Two peas in a pod when it comes to being LSOS’s.
