Rick A. Patterson; phony PJ
Someone sent us this guy, Rick A. Patterson who claims that he was a Pararescueman in the Air Force. He tells tearful stories about his time, about the friends that he lost and the wars he fought. Here’s one;
Well, I contacted LD Jeffries, a real Air Force PJ, and he could find no training for Patterson. So he decided to troll Patterson on his Facebook page;
Yeah, he left LD hanging and blocked him. With good reason.
He was an Air Force Sergeant and an aircraft maintenance guy for four years in Arizona and Germany. No PJ training, not even trained in the Basic Airborne Course. His Facebook has lots of pictures that he claims are him, but, no they’re not.
I know he’s not wired too tightly, so there’s no need to tell me that, but his lies are heinous. Here are some more screen shots of his mindless drivel that LD sent me, if you can stand it. It’s not even good fiction;

The apology actually seems good. Maybe he’ll do what he should: cease being a liar and a fake, and get on with his life as an honorable person.
Unfortunately, we won’t know for sure until we see whether or not he returns to being a liar and a phony in the future. We’ve seen far too many who decided to “lay low” for a while when busted, then resurfaced later with the same old BS “cock-and-bull” stories.
They say confession is good for the soul. What comes from him has the sincerity of tub margarine.
I give this twit about two weeks for the heat to die away before he starts up again. But that’s the cynic in me.

Two weeks – yeah, that’s about how long I think he’ll take to back off and wait for the heat to die down.
As I read his apology, I noticed the last sentence. He will de-activate, possibly to come back with a new scam, ala Kyle Barwan, (Who, by the way is still at it, scamming fellow gamers, with tales of woe, getting them to finance his drug habits.)
I would like to think that this guy is sincere, but having far to much real contact with posers, I doubt that will be the case. Color me skeptical.
Dude is all BJ; no PJ. May he have a heart attack, mid-coitus, just as his boyfriend “lines up the pitch”.

Really? Why did it ever get to the point where he needed to apologize? He should be held accountable. He lied, either because he wanted to inflate his own sense of grandeur, or because he needed attention. And when he realized what sort of attention those lies would get him, he posts that apology, and we should ‘let it go’? Absolutely not. The only punishment the majority of these people will face is crucifixion in public court. So I say we hammer a few more nails in for good measure.
And it took quite some time from being a badass PJ, defending the lie with threats of violence, to finally, if not reluctantly, offering a lame assed apology. How about apologizing for the threats you made against those that asked legitimate questions regarding your exploits?
Doesn’t some of that story sound vaguely like the experiences of the SAS team that were compromised during Desert Storm? Sean Bean was in a movie about it.

I bet that he had to look up how to spell thesaurus. I didn’t even bother to notice if it was spelled correctly. With all of the spelling, grammar and syntax errors from his remarks, I thought that I was reading a business proposal from a proud woman owned software company formerly located on Wilson Lane in Bethesda MD. This guy should be on the short list for the next round of candidates for the All Points Logistics Executive Mentorship Program.
LD says that it was just a few days ago that Patterson was threatening to sue LD. I guess he saw the writing on the wall.
To all you non USAF folks, just as an FYI, Sergeant in the USAF is no longer used. When it was, it was E-4 and basically automatic 6 months after being promoted to SrA, which is also E-4.

I still feel like he’s using weasel words with the “My records indicate…” instead of merely saying what he actually did. That sentence makes it look like he’s still referring to “sealed records” that are not indicated. Am I reading too much into this? When someone asks me what I did, I tell them honestly. If I said, “My records indicate I served in the Army,” I’d sound like an android.

He didn’t know shit about diving; that showed in the first paragraph. You don’t decompress on the descent, it’s done on the ascent. Not to mention wearing a wet suit at 300 ft. Mighty cold at that depth, probably dry suit needed. Most of us have never been much below 150′ and even there it is cold.

Compared to other SOF communities, FR and PJ are exceptionally small and insular.

I’m actually kind of impressed. This hump was totally committed to his story. More than a lot of the others. His “war stories” were very detailed.
My records were sealed and there are no pictures of me in training because I was “black ops”. There’s a difference between “black” and “spec” ops. That alone should make us all stop questioning why there’s no records.
I’m sure they’d all be redacted anyway.

B-1 and B-2, photos, eh? Interesting.
He served from 1978 to 1982. Neither of those airframes were in the USAF inventory when he served.
The B-1 didn’t see anything but testing while he was in the USAF – and I’m pretty sure DMAFB and Hann AB were not locations at which it was tested. The B-2’s first flight wasn’t until July 1989.
Given his past dishonesty, using those photos doesn’t bode well. But it’s still to early to tell.

Funny how the details will screw these guys. I don’t recall protective masks having C2 canisters back in 79 but I wasn’t in then. I do know in 87 we had M13 filters (54 Bravos feel free to correct me) and I didn’t see a C2 canister until the early 90s.

So far he is still in boot camp but damn he is a warrior hero already. You won’t believe what he is saying. I screen captured several pages of it in case he deletes it. There is also a Michael Ziobrowski that posts on every one of Rick the Dick’s posts and evidently he doesn’t think much of Ricky Dicky.
