A pal of ours offers this story via FB. Needs little amplification me thinks. Made me smile and tear up at the same time.

“Detachment Mason”
Got a little dusty in here.
Damn dust… BZ to those that made his happen for Mason!
Damnit, the dust came up again. Salute, men. And Mason.
I think there is little leftover CS powder in the room.
Out-freaking-standing Troopers!!
“Another gave Mason his silver Cavalry spurs, saying, “I don’t want you ever to give up. If you ever have that feeling, hold these spurs, and don’t ever give up.” Is it the dust in here, or is Mrs. Infidel®™ cutting up onions again?
Yeah, that part got to me too.
That was the troop I just left.
Anvil Troop 1-16 Cavalry. I unfortunately missed that event. They did it just after I PCS’d here to Riley. Great chain of command in Anvil.
On a sort of funny note, SSG Mathews was asking for ideas on things they could present to him that would be meaningful and represent the Cav. When someone suggested Spurs, he was like ‘oh yeah, spurs’. Lol. I found it amusing anyway.
Getting emotional at 0430 about a story like this was the easy part. The hard part is what this young man and his family face in the coming months. My prayers are with them all including those fine Armored Cav Troopers.
Allons.
Nice story, Zero.
My allergies must be acting up.
This story restores my faith in mankind. Thank you to the service members who did this event because they wanted to not because they had to…
Fricking onion cutting ninjas strike again. Well done Troops, well done.
That’s good bull!
