Prince Harry gets emotional
Say what you will about Britain’s Royal Family, but when talking about Prince Harry, remember to add the word class.
Overcome with emotion. Prince Harry was deeply moved after a U.S. Marine gave the dog tag of a fallen colleague to the royal on Sunday, Nov. 1, at Buckingham Palace.
Category: Support the troops
Never had the honor of meeting him in Afghanistan but some buddies bumped into him at the NAAFI. They confirmed that he is a great guy.
Harry’s a warrior, 100%. Got it from his mother.
Bravo Zulu to Kirstie Ennis. Rest In Peace Corporal Baune. Prince William is a class act all the way. The first in a long time to bring some class and solid credit back to the royal family after his father’s and brother’s lifestyle. He and his lovely wife are doing it right. I applaud him most of all, for serving in an active war zone and not taking the royal way out to a lesser theater of operations. He has all my respect.
I really messed up my post. I was referring to Prince Harry and wrote Prince William. Of course the brother I spoke of was indeed Harry and his shenanigans. Sorry Prince.
Both Harry and William have done their time in the service… and both seem to be very genuine gentlemen (have to give credit to their mother and grandmother for that)… if Diana was still with us, she would be very proud of her sons.
When Diana died, she was dating a Saudi playboy. It’s probably just as well that he never had the chance to influence Harry’s and William’s upbringing.
Good point. They had enough bad examples between their dad and uncles. Even with his off-duty indiscretions, Prince Harry is a choir boy in comparison.
Dodi Fayed was Egyptian but he was also a British citizen.
Thank you for correcting me on that. I should have looked it up and not tried to rely on my memory.
Pinto, I know the feeling lol. And my Dr said something else would be the first thing to go lmao.
Both of the Princes are class acts, both are warriors. And it’s only been in about the last two centuries that running away from a fight has been ‘the royal way out.’ It used to be that the king was a warrior and led from the front, not lurking in a fortress or bunker.

Yeah. That is an incredible story of an incredible Marine. It really is one of those stories that is to be read the moment one begins the woe-is-me routine. Kirstie Ennis. That name should be on the lips of everyone who needs a lesson in courage, determination, perseverance, and hope. Truly inspirational.
What a beautiful lady, in every sense of the word.
Prince Harry undertook two operational tours of Afghanistan, as a Forward Air Controller in 2007/08 and as an Apache Pilot between September 2012 and January 2013. His unit was the Blues and Royals 662 Squadron, 3 Regiment, Army Air Corps. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in April 2011.
“In February 2008, at the end of my first tour in Afghanistan, I traveled home on an aircraft carrying three seriously injured British soldiers and the coffin of a Danish Soldier. “From that moment, I was committed to doing all I could to ensure that those men and women, who had sacrificed so much for their countries, would receive the recognition and support they deserved.”
Harry spent 10 years in the Army. His off-duty ‘scandals’ make me chuckle. They, along with his military background, tell me he was–and is–a first-rate trooper.
Harry is the one of the most down-to-earth guys on the planet. I like him.
Princes William and Harry are both AWESOME ? ROYAL’S. Princess Diana was a class act and passed it on to HER BOYS..to bad chuckles only passed on scandal and thank Buddha they didn’t follow in his footsteps.
I usually roll my eyes at Americans who swoon over royal families, but Prince Harry is legit. He didn’t have to go to Afghanistan, but he wanted to. Can’t help but respect a man like that.
Royal families are still silly anachronisms, though 🙂
Not just that, but he’s done more than one tour, hasn’t he? He could have hidden behind his Royal Title, but he didn’t and went into harm’s way like a Warrior, KUDOS to him!
Anything else he does in life is secondary to the fact that he is one of us.
This.
We tend to be able to recognize our own.
Damn straight. Would that any US presidential candidate have served with as much honor and distinction as him.
One of these days, I’ll run into that kid and buy him a pint.
You HAVE to read the article at the link that Eggs provided.
Sergeant Ennis is one tough damn Marine.
Tough is an understatement.
I recall when Harry was going to be denied an overseas deployment due to concerns about his safety and he replied with a threat to resign his commission. Things like that are why I shrug unconcernedly about his exploits.
If you read about Kirstie Ennis, here’s another. It’s a keeper. Boy, is it ever.

Damn.
Ditto.
He is definitely world class and a reminder of what the royal’s and the “elite” used to be.
While learning to fly a MILITARY HELICOPTER in Arizona, the locals he bumped into while off duty said “when you meet the guy, it’s like you’ve been friends your whole life”. During a late night breakfast at WAFFLE HOUSE with his crew a group of teens giggling and whispering, Prince Harry got up and sat with the girls, allowing them to take selfies until his food arrived. My god daughter still talks about how down to earth he is.
