Monday morning feel good stories

| November 2, 2015

USAF Pride and Chief Tango send us a link to the story that happened in Chicago, Illinois this weekend, where 55-year-old Reginald Gildersleeve tried to turn his life around in a currency exchange business. Gildersleeve displayed a firearm and began man-handling one of the female employees when a licensed customer made Gildersleeve, DRT (dead right there).

InHelena, Arkansas, four men pretended to be trick-or-treaters, they forced their way into the home with their shotgun leading the way. The homeowner was in his easy chair when that happened, so he reached in the chair and pulled out his handgun and fired once. The four goblins un-assed the AO unharmed leaving their shotgun and a rifle behind.

In Reading, Pennsylvania, three masked and armed men went to do some late night shopping at a market. They fired one round to establish their line of credit. Unfortunately for them, two late-night employees were also armed. They made one of the thieves DRT (dead right there) and another was DOT (dead over there) at the hospital, the third is in the wind.

You would think people here in Arkansas would know that it’s pretty much a given there’s at least one gun in every house

In every house? When I lived there, it was every room.

Bon jour de Morts!

Gildersleeve? Was the currency exchange employee’s last name McGee, by any odd chance? Or was it the customer’s name? You’re a haaaard man, McGee! And in Chicago, of all places on this Earth!

So, I guess for some perps, Hallowe’en was more trick than treat, eh?

As today IS el Dia de Muertos, I will offer Flores para los muertes!

The stupid burns:

“Something doesn’t seem right,” said Igbinosa Oronsaye, whose mother was married to Gildersleeve. “Reggie doesn’t even own a gun. He couldn’t own a gun if he wanted to.”[…]

Gildersleeve had a “lengthy” arrest history, including at least one for robbery, and was out on bond from an unrelated incident from Oct. 23, Guglielmi said.

Police said the shooter, a 44-year-old man, has a valid concealed carry license and a valid firearm owner’s identification card.

Oronsaye said he wasn’t convinced the shooter acted properly.

“Some people don’t actually know how to use guns,” he said. “They go to firing ranges, but it’s not the same as a bullet going into someone’s body, it’s not the same as a bullet going into flesh. They should be able to wound first, kill next. He didn’t deserve to get shot multiple times.

“You just took a brother, you just took a father from a lot of people. Somebody’s got to answer for that.”

nbcguy54ACTUAL

“You just took a brother….”

…and a thief, a felon, a criminal…

I say “good shooting”. The range time paid off.

desert

No…they just took another freaking “predator” off the streets!

The denial of reality hurts, doesn’t it? That poor Reggie, who couldn’t POSSIBLY have owned a gun, could get his hands on one somehow and use it to commit crimes is beyond their comprehension. And I’d bet my next batch of chocolate chip cookies that he ALWAYS brought home the cash, too! He was, no doubt, a REALLY good boy. He just never told anyone what kind of work he did.

The reality wall is as hard as a brick.

A Proud Infidel®™

Ooooh wait, if Gildersleeve was a convicted felon, then it was against the law for him to possess a firearm or ammo, PERIOD!! What was he doing with a gun then, committing a crime? Gee whiz, people legally carrying and defending themselves, who would want that? /sarc

Maybe the Not-So-Great Gildersleeve was using the “neighborhood gun”? The one hidden in a prominent tree or taped to the lid of a specific dumpster?
And, the poor guy dindu nuffin, he jes be turnin his life aroun. I’d bet he was trying to make tuition for med school.

One thing I never hear about the DRT’s is the following statement:

“He/She was a pillar of the community”

Bill M

And now they’re filler in the graveyard.

The Other Whitey

Someone who knows nothing about guns accusing a CCW of not knowing about guns. There’s a joke in there somewhere.

Plus, if I may quote SGT Malcom Reynolds: “You murdered yourself. I just carried the bullet a while.”

David

“They should be able to wound first, kill next.” Apparently they did, in that order. Rapidly.

jerry920

“They should be able to wound first, kill next. He didn’t deserve to get shot multiple times.”

That always galls me. On a good day I can tag 90% in the center black at 15 feet. Not the best, I know. I cannot fathom trying to do the same under duress.

Shot to wound my a#$.

E-6 type, 1 ea

Yeah, because I bet poor ole Reggie would have shot to wound too, right?

The Other Whitey

That’s why my home defense pistol is a .45; I ain’t exactly the world’s greatest pistol shot, therefore if (God forbid) I ever need to shoot somebody, I need them to know they’ve been shot!

GDContractor

Everybody knows if you are shooting to kill, you hold the pistol sideways. DUH.

Skippy

nice to see a CCW holder in of all places Chicago… can stop a crime. because the police can’t

2/17 Air Cav

Well, ya never know. Would-be criminals don’t usually volunteer that they were about to do a crime when the police rolled by. And, besides, police rarely seek to prevent crime. Exceptions exist, like police street walkers waiting for johns and the like but the primary job of police is to respond to crime and catch the crook. Then, it’s the prosecutors job to make a deal so there’s no trial, and the judge’s job either to put the crook on the street immediately or, failing that, as soon as possible.

UpNorth

It sounds like you know some prosecutors and judges.

Fjardeson

Two DRT’s, one DOT, and two abandoned weapons. Good score!

Bill M

Could probably track them by the brown, smelly droppings they left behind.
