Friday morning feel good stories
In Bremerton, Washington, a 78-year-old man was sleeping when he and his wife were awakened by their security alarm. The homeowner grabbed his gun and went to investigate. He encountered a burglar in his garage who then stole the resident’s Prius. The homeowner loosed five rounds in his direction but the thief still made good his escape, for awhile, anyway. One of the items that he’d stolen was the resident’s cell phone and the police tracked the GPS in the phone. So Mr Thief tried to run from the police, but they used a spike strip and stopped the car, but then he made his escape on foot.
In Hobart, Indiana, another man chased two armed burglars away from his residence with his gun by firing a warning shot into the ground after he encountered them in his garage and they took flight.
He’s lucky that he doesn’t live in Youngstown, Ohio, because Peter Horvath was fined for firing warning shots at his burglars there. So, know your local laws for firing warning shots…or don’t fire warning shots would be my recommendation.

Methinks warning shots are A WASTE OF AMMUNITION, ”nuff said!
The shot into the first guy, should serve as a warning to the second guy
WARNING: Due to the current price of ammunition…there will be NO warning shots!
Stole his Prius? Who on Earth would anyone want to steal a Prius? For Pete’s sake, steal a real car!
These people all need range time. API is right: hit the target. Warning shots are a waste of ammo.
Thank-yuh, Ma’am, and DITTO on what you said about the Prius! 😀
Hipster might grab one.
What kind of gun owner owns a Prius? Hopefully the 5 rounds he fired put it out of his and our misery.
Someone who drinks only lattes and buys his clothes at “Metrosexuals-R-Us”.
Hondo…
I just got back from spending a week on the left coast. Seattle was the last stop before home. Two words: Hated it.
My spouse loves that Mountains to Sea thing and hiked the Pacific Crest Trail with 2 of our offspring. I showed up for the “fun”–one night of camping and a few Port Towns. Seattle…Ugh. I couldn’t wait to leave. The airport where I was stranded for 14 hours sucks balls. I hopped terminals for internet connections! There is NOTHING there for people to enjoy. Nothing.
Range time and lose the Prius.
Every agency I ever worked for, i.e., the Department of Defense Police and the Utah State Prison, emphasized that no warning shots were to be fired.
Hmm. No DRTs or DOTs, and only 1 of 5 perps in custody. Damn.
Oh, well, I guess the good guys can’t have a “good day at the plate” every day . . . .
Well at least the Prius is gone!
Warning shot are without a doubt necessary. Just make sure you punctuate the warning shot by firing center of mass. That way the person will know it was them you were warning.
