Thursday morning feel good stories

| April 23, 2015

Our first story this morning comes from Texas and expounds on our lesson that you shouldn’t try to victimize the elderly, because we’re too old to fight, we’ll just shoot you. 74-year-old Jewell Turner was sitting in her van when a fellow tapped on her window. When she rolled it down, he pointed a knife at her and demanded the contents of her purse;

“He said, ‘I don’t want to hurt you, but I want your money. And I will hurt you if I have to,’” Turner said.

Turner said she told the man she only had some pocket change with her – $1.62 she counted after the ordeal – but he demanded what she had in her purse.

It was in that moment, Turner said, that she remembered she came prepared for an encounter such as this.

The widow first thought to pull out the pocket knife she always keeps with her for personal protection.

“It’s an old knife, belonged to my husband,” Turner said.

Instead, Turner remembered that earlier that very day she felt the need to bring her small pistol along with her.

“I seen the gun laying there. And I figured that would work better than the knife,” Turner said. “I just reached down, got the gun and turned around and pointed it to his face. And I told him, I said, ‘You back off, or I’ll blow your head off.’ And his eyes got big and he just backed up and he took off walking down the street like nothing happened.”

Our next story comes from Texas, too;

The video appears to show [Corrie McKenzie, 29] enter the cashier’s box of the Fast Trac II convenience store. The cashier, another employee and someone Arolfo identifies as a good Samaritan try to thwart the robber.

“It’s kind of nice actually, a good Samaritan comes in and helps out,” Arolfo, said.

One employee, identified as the father of the cashier, used a shotgun to try to ward off the man. The shotgun did not go off.

After almost one minute, of scuffling, the trio is successful and the robber escapes out the front door.

The last stop today is Alabama where the criminals are especially shit bag – the thief used his own baby as a shield when confronted by the victims;

A neighbor spotted two suspects at a house and called the homeowner.

Police say when the homeowner arrived back home and when he fired shots to warn off the suspects, police said one of the suspects held up a baby as a human shield.

[…]

Police said that the baby, who is believed to be 1-years-old, is in fact the suspect’s child. The mother and DHR have been contacted. It is believed the child is still with the suspect.

A neighbor came out of her house to see what the commotion was about.

“I heard this noise and when I looked up I saw a black male with a little baby holding it on his side and he ran past my mailbox off between my house and the next house,” Darlene Hunt said.

Police say the suspects tried to flee in a vehicle but it got stuck so they fled on foot into the woods.

One suspect was been taken into custody at some railroad tracks close to Poplar Lane.

The suspect who held up the baby was seen coming out of the woods. Police believe he tracked back to Midway Road and may have gotten a ride there.

Police are still searching for that suspect. He is described as a black male last seen wearing red shorts and a white t-shirt. He is described as armed and dangerous.

Having a shotgun but not being able to make it fire when needed is no different than having a club. Not a lot of good if you don’t swing it, hard, frequently.
Or like having a lawyer who cannot present a case effectively, and is not adequately licensed to represent you.
Holding a baby as a shield in the commission of a crime? I got nothing.

Using a BABY as a human shield? That’s what Muslim terrorists do, there is a special place in HELL for low lives who do that!!

Agreed. Involving your child in your crime is pretty much unforgivable.

But for using your own child as a human shield . . . well, some form of particularly slow and painful execution sounds about right to me.

Jewell Turner is my kind of heroine. Kudos to her.

The crapazoid that used his kid as a shield? He needs some close, personal time with those prison guys who like to properly educate jackwads who do those things.
