Friday morning feel good stories
Amy sends us our first feel good story today, this time it’s from Houston, like so many of these stories are lately;
It happened early Thursday at the Cherry Creek Apartments on Hollister near Tidwell.
The resident told police one, possibly two suspects busted through an upstairs living room window at his apartment, so he opened fire.
The wounded suspect was taken to Ben Taub. The second possible suspect got away.
The resident who fired the shot was placed in the back of a patrol car for questioning, but police say he is not under arrest.
From Chief Tango come a few more stories, the first from Oklahoma, where criminals are really just big babies, I guess;
Giovanni Davenport is accused of threatening the clerk with an ax and demanding cash from the register at Portland Express Mart near N.W. 36th and Portland, Tuesday afternoon.
The clerk, Ali Ait Mahdi was not intimidated. Instead, he took matters into his own hands.
“In situations like that you always fight for yourself, your life,” Ait Mahdi said, “you can’t help it, it’s an instinct.”
Ait Mahdi said he threatened to shoot the thief.
“He said give me the money. He didn’t care when I told him I had a gun, so someone was really willing to die or get shot for nothing,” Ait Mahdi said he didn’t actually pull a gun on the thief but reached behind the counter for the next best thing, pepper spray.
“As soon as I saw his eyes the only thing I could think was to spray him,” Ait Mahdi explained, “I didn’t think about the ax.”
Davenport allegedly started swinging the ax when he was blinded by the pepper spray. According to police, he struck the top of the counter and toppled some displays but no one was hurt.
“I really thank God nothing happened because situations like this you really don’t know,” said Ait Mahdi.
After 30 seconds inside the store, police said Davenport stumbled out the door and straight into the arms of two FBI agents.
The agents told investigators Davenport was throwing up and crying for his momma until police arrived to arrest him.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program, in Ohio;
The man who was shot was pronounced dead around 7:00 a.m. at Mount Carmel West Hospital.
Police believe the man was a robbery suspect, breaking into neighborhood homes.
Sgt. Dave Sicilian said the unidentified man broke into a back door, was chased by a person inside then jumped out of a second floor window, before crawling across the street and breaking into a second home.
“The homeowner was awakened and defended herself,” said Sicilian. “We need to determine if she needed to defend herself and if she took the proper action.”
The woman’s son said he bought her a handgun last week for self defense.

What luck! Those FBI agents could hardly have had better timing. While looking for the story on the mobile site, though, I found this: http://m.news9.com/Story.aspx?story=28147436&catId=112032
All jokes about Lieutenants aside, I hope he has a speedy recovery and is permitted to continue serving like other amputees are.
Probably the only time those FBI agents will hae a critter run in to their open arms, lol. Good job, guys!
“We need to determine if she needed to defend herself and if she took the proper action.” WTF, over?
If someone breaks into a home with the knowledge that the home is occupied, its a safe assumption that the person breaking in has a plan to deal with the occupant.
Three stories about smart people v. stupid people, and the stupid people lose.
I guess that old saying is right: you can’t fix stupid.
That reminds me: next time I go to the hardware store, I will pick up some pepper spray at the checkout. It’s in case I run into bears on the trail this summer… or coyotes. You never know.
Coyotes . .. two legged or four legged?
PH2 – remember the old one: Black bear scat can be distinguished by the berries they love to eat. To protect yourself from them, carry tinkling bells and heavy duty pepper spray. Grizzly scat can be distinguished by its containing little bells and a strong scent of pepper spray…
Houston is normally a fairly sane city when it comes to guns. However, one of our more notably waterbrained legislators is introducing a bill to repeal “Stand Your Ground” in the state. Other legislators (as of this writing, he has no co-signers) are describing the bill as dead on arrival. His rationale to repeal SYG is that”it is just an excuse for white folks to kill black folks out of hand”.
Check this one out….with raw video included. Very hapy ending.

“We need to determine if she needed to defend herself and if she took the proper action.”
Ug…It’s a no brainer to me.

#2- I had some pepper spray sprayed on me for training. Yes, it stings. Like hell. Rinse with copious amounts of water, AND DO NOT TOUCH!! But this asswipe is a big wuss. I hope he enjoys his time in the slammer. “Ain’t he got purdy lips?”
#3 – Good timing on the son for getting his mother a gun just the week prior. Good timing.
“And the world is a better place, beginning now.”
