Giffords tries to make guns an issue in this election

The Associated Press makes Gabby Giffords a very sympathetic figure in their piece about her struggle – a woman shot in the head by a mad man stands up to the giant National Rifle Association and their single-minded Bubba constituency as she tries to make guns an issue in this election.
As Giffords visited nine states in the past two weeks, the National Rifle Association was working in at least 30, with advertising and get-out-the-vote manpower, to strengthen its position in Washington and state capitals. She will be widely outspent this year by the NRA and others who support the rights of gun owners.
Two days after Giffords’ appearance in Seattle, a 15-year-old high school student shot and killed two people and killed himself in an attack north of the city that seriously wounded three others. The shooting has barely made a ripple in the final days of the campaign.
Let’s make something very clear here. Nothing being proposed by any legislator anywhere in the United States would have prevented Gabrielle Giffords’ tragic wounding. Nothing is being proposed that would have prevented that 15-year-old from killing those people in Washington State. It’s already against written laws for a 15-year-old to have a gun. It’s already illegal for anyone to have a gun in school.
The article continues that Giffords campaigns against Joni Ernst in Iowa by spending her massive donations from her organization for anti-Ernst propaganda;
“Joni Ernst won’t vote to close the loophole that lets some dangerous people still get guns,” Story County Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald says in the ad set to run through Election Day.
What loophole, Sheriff? The one that is used by less than one percent of criminals who commit gun crimes? And there it is – after the incessant yelling and screaming following the tragic Newtown shootings, we all calmed down and looked at the actual facts, you know, after the emotion dissipated. That’s why Colorado, New York, Connecticut and Maryland rammed their idiot laws through their legislatures, before everyone came to their senses. Came to their senses and realized that government can’t stop these incidents from happening – well, not as long as guns remain the hands of the bumpkins.
The Giffords and the Bloombergs talk about “sensible gun laws” and ridding our communities of “illegal guns”, but we already have sensible gun laws and, in their eyes, all guns are illegal because sensible guns laws aren’t making us safer – and the solution to every problem is legislation, you know, when you’re a hammer…er…lawyer. If their legislation isn’t eradicating gun violence, then we simply need more legislation. All legislation, no matter how well-meaning, makes someone less free, leaves fewer choices for someone.
The NRA isn’t the big evil lobby that the Giffords, the Bloombergs and the Associated Press makes them out to be. They represent 5 million Americans who legally and responsibly own firearms for various reasons.
The culture is sick. Colorado takes guns away from law-abiding citizens and makes pot legal, so irresponsible behavior get a pass. Gun owners have more of a reason to want to protect themselves and their families because the government is becoming more permissive of irresponsible behavior. Just read through some of the comments in our more active “feel good stories” where folks condemn us because we cheer when a legal gun owner walks away from a bad situation and the criminals don’t. The culture is sick. The Giffords, the Bloombergs, all feed off of that sickness in order to make themselves relevant in an irrelevant discussion.

Never let a good crisis or tragedy go to waste…
So, I guess the ‘be afraid’ approach is not quite as effective as it used to be, huh?
Well, that’s good. It’s why I vote in every election. I keep hoping my poking those holes in the ballots will work. Sometimes, it does.
We just cover the hole with a black sharpie mark here in the Bay State….it makes it easier for the poll workers to “help” the elderly and illegals cast their ballots.
Giffords is just James Brady in a skirt.
“Together, we can win elections,” the former Arizona congresswoman tells her Seattle audience before starting to stumble. After a moment of confused silence, an aide whispers the next line, and Giffords continues the broken sentence: “… change our laws.”
She’s brain damaged. She’s old news. No one gives a shit. That’s what I gleaned from the AP story.
Gifford should learn Spanish then start preaching to the illegals like the one who killed two police officers. I am sure he obtained his weapon from the IRA. I think this unfortunate women feel in love with all of the attention from her being shot by a nut job and not is loving the publicity. Lady, please go away.
I’m more inclined to believe that her husband is in love with the money she’s bringing in. When she goes away, she needs to take hubby with her.
“all feed off of that sickness in order to make themselves relevant in an irrelevant discussion. ”
And make themselves rich while golfing and hanging out with celebrities. I can count on my fingers the number of politicians who truly try to stick to their principles and represent us as they should. The rest are all out to pad their pockets and gain power.
I don’t think Giffords can be blamed for this stuff. At this point, she’s being used as a meat puppet, which is pretty sickening itself, but not her fault.

I was thinking about this as I was driving around for work yesterday.
I havent received a single piece of campaign literature from either of the two side concerning the firearms initiatives here in Washington state, nor have I seen/heard a single TV/radio add.
There is plenty of plackard up but its running in my estimation at 10 to 1 for the pro-gun folks, and that is in a very dark blue area.
It’s interesting that she didn’t have a problem with guns until it directly affected her. Now, she wants all guns taken away from the law abiding folks, which leaves out people like the one that shot her. To be honest, I don’t think she, personally, is as engaged as they are making her out to be. I think her law breaking husband is more behind this than she is. Why do I call her husband a criminal? Because he admitted as much when he was purchasing his AR-15, and made a video admitting it as he filled out the forms. He lied on the forms by claiming in the video that he was making a straw purchase. Why he isn’t in the jug, is what should be discussed.
Their trying to close the same phoney, nonexistent “loopholes” in Washington State. Current laws on the books by federal and state governments, prove they do not exist. No felons, those diagnosed mentally unstable or those convicted of domestic violence can buy a gun…legally. The big issue is sales at gun shows and background checks there. Okay if they do that and I want my purchase to be private, then I’ll see a gun at a show, talk with the seller and even offer him a bit more if he’ll hold it until after the show and I’ll then buy it as a LEGAL private sale. (Yes a felon or whack job could do the same though they usually don’t like delays when they need a gun.) But most gun show sellers, when they see my Concealed Carry Permit, know I am above board and I have seen them refuse sales to folks they are suspicious of or simply don’t like.
This does nothing except add reams of do nothing legislature to the volumes of existing state code. It does not stop the problem. A problem which is simple. Criminals get their guns on the black market. Those unstable folks, like the kid who killed his mom, stole her weapons and shot up the high school, will still do the same.
You cannot legislate sanity and apparently you can’t legislate common sense either. This is all a “sound good solution to a feel good issue” and no more. It will change…NOTHING.
Speaking of guns, there is a story that a western PA coroner’s office is auctioning 100 guns. Here’s the rub: The guns were used in suicides and accidental shootings that resulted in death. It sounded like a macabre Halloween tale but it’s real. I visited the Westmoreland county, PA website and it links to the auctioneer, below.

If she was attacked with a baseball bat, would she have gone after the Louisville Slugger company and Major League Baseball?
Good question! I still wonder what kind of a salary she pays herself from her Foundation’s coffers as wel?
I’m sure her husband is paid quite well, you know, caregiver, spokesperson, travel companion. That way, the foundation can claim, with a straight face, that she doesn’t get compensated.
I just bought a .22 rifle at a local sporting goods store (Savage bolt action for the kiddos). I swear to God, I was standing at the counter for an hour while the manager tried to get the paperwork processed. At one point, trying to be helpful, I said, “Can you just call up Eric Holder and tell him I am an undocumented democrat? Maybe that will speed things up.” The manager laughed.
