Vicenzo Lamontagna; cop fired for lying about his military career
Someone sent us this story from the Chicago Tribune about Vicenzo Lamontagna, a small town cop in Illinois who lied about his military service to get the job and has found himself out on the street;
Vicenzo Lamontagna, 30, who is an officer in Johnsburg, allegedly lied on job applications when he said he was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant from the U.S. Army, according to a spokeswoman for the Illinois Attorney General’s office, which is handling the case.
Lamontagna was discharged less than honorably in lieu of a court-martial, said the spokeswoman, Maura Possley.
The Northwest Herald says that he’s going to get quite an education on the court side of the judicial system;
Vicenzo LaMontagna, 30, was indicted by a Cook County grand jury on 16 counts of forgery, three counts of mail fraud and three counts of wire fraud, all Class 3 felonies, according to a spokeswoman for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
LaMontagna submitted falsified documents to the Johnsburg Police Department as well as departments in Glenview and Darien and the Illinois State Police for hiring purposes, spokeswoman Maura Possley said.
The documents inaccurately say LaMontagna was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, that he held the rank of sergeant when discharged, and that he had received combat-related medals, she said.
I guess the lesson is; don’t lie to cops.

Bubba, Julio, and Thor declined comment. But they did all smile. (smile)
I heard they were actually giggling uncontrollably, but you know how word gets muddled in the big house.
I thought stolen Valor was a victimless crime? I hearty Phuk you to this Police department for screwing the pooch on vetting this police-man. I wonder what triggered the investigation into his background?
Guess I don’t understand why this is any different from being a CEO or a consultant who lied about service.
Shitbag is as shitbag does.
Maybe Shane Ladner could pull a few strings for him.
And yet there’s a cop in IL who is still an assistant chief, even after his claim of being a former SEAL was shot down.
I remember that fat maggot. Wasn’t it some suburb of Chicago?
Yes, it was.
It happened in IL,thus I take that as a sign that said Police Chief has some really good dirt on the right people!
Bingo!
Hold the phone, boys and girls; does he have a Honorable Discharge from the National Guard???
That would make the difference!
Any honorary degrees or promotions?
Yes, like many others of the poser variety, he has a doctorate in douchebaggery.
So..since he gained monetarily from his fraud, does he fall under the Stolen Valor Act? The articles do not reference which medals he claimed. Combat related though almost always includes the Purple Heart with these guys, if not higher.
More than likely he claimed the Silver Medal Star, the Legislator Legion of Merit, The Purple Poopshoot and the Submarine Tailgunner Expert Qualification Badge.
Splash. Out.
I wonder if this places any felony arrests he made suspect in a court of law.
Something like this is an appeal lawyer’s wet dream come true. I’m sure some will pounce on it like a starving pit bull on meat scraps!
Maybe now he can get a job with All Points Logistics.
Hahahahahaha
More of these stories, please!
According to the Northwest Herald article, “Johnsburg Police Chief Keith Von Allmen said…LaMontagna has been reassigned and is not performing the duties of a patrol officer.” What kind of Mickey Mouse outfit is the Johnsburg Police Department? That shithead LaMontagna, was caught red handed lying about his military service to procure a LEO job. And that idiot police chief hasn’t fired the guy? He’s letting him ride a desk?
Note that everything at this point is “allegedly” – he is probably on unpaid leave till the moment he is found guilty.
City/Town council will have to meet, hear it as a personnel matter then seal his fate.
It is called “dew prosess” in those there parts!
Up here it is called “you are fired” have your lawyer call us!
This kind of reminds me, in reverse, of a guy I used to work with in Palm Beach County, FL back around 1988. He seemed like an okay guy but he would always volunteer the info that he had been an Army Ranger. He did his job well, showed up, and didn’t steal… but listening to him was like “blah blah blah Army blah blah Ranger blah blah blah.” No one at work really gave a shit so no one quizzed him about it.
He gave his 2 weeks notice and left on good terms.
Then, I answered the phone one day, and it was a Sherrif’s Deputy from Palm Beach County asking for an employment reference on this same guy. I stuck to the script and said he had been an honest and hardworking employee who had left on good terms.
Then, as an aside, I said, “I imagine he will make you a good Deputy, given his prior military experience.”
The Deputy I was speaking to said, “What military experience?”
And I said, “Well heck, the guy can’t complete a sentence without including “Army Rangers” in it…. he was one, to hear him tell it.”
The Deputy says, “Well I have his application right here and under “Military Service” he answered “NONE””
So I say, “Hmmm… you might want to check into that.”
And he says, “Don’t worry, we will.”
I have always wondered if Mike D. got into the Palm Beach County Academy or not. When he worked around me, he seriously went out of his way to talk it up about his time as a Ranger. Hopefully he got a therapeutic jerk on his chain.
Sounds like Mike Humfleet. He was the same way.
There was an asshat did the same thing in the Texas Panhandle a few years ago, for the city chief of police. The city council had to meet, hear it on a personnel matter then he was discharged and Texas Rangers hauled his ass across the street to county lockup.
This fucking douche was my squad leader in the XVIII airborne corps and was so “high speed” lol hahaha. He said he was in delta training and was speeding on his motorcycle to get court martialed but that doesn’t add up. I know he liked married women. He used to tell me I’m older than you and look at what I got, what you got now a few felonies lol. He was fat and thought he was built. As a staff sergeant asked me to take my top off and step behind “the wood pile” and when I said let’s do it he said no. He deserves it what a loser
