David DeMulle; yet another Vietnam Vet phony
Scotty sends us his work on David DeMulle who regales his readers with stories of his experiences as a combat photographer (yes, another one) with duty in the Military Assistance Command’s Studies and Operations Group – a special operations unit (of course);
Yeah, in that picture he looks more like one of Che Guevara’s buddies – the caption says he was training with the Bundeswehr, I guess that explains the rifle. But, regardless, the Army says “Who?”
The “limited information” that the NPRC had to search for his record was his social security number. After reading that really gripping story, I wondered why, if he was a combat photographer in Vietnam, why didn’t he use a picture of him in Vietnam instead of one supposedly taken in Germany? I guess I’m just too picky.
Category: Phony soldiers
It’s like he took every story he had heard of “The Nam” and put it into…well…that.
I have heard that during Vietnam helicopters spontaneously erupted into fireballs and no one really paid it much mind. Just another day.
I mean it was so laid back they were taking SOG guys and turning them into combat camermen. Screw the rifles.
Don’t know about anybody else, but as I read through his tall tale, I kept thinking, “Forrest Gump…Platoon…Apocalypse Now…Platoon…Full Metal Jacket…Hamburger Hill…Apocalypse Now…Forrest Gump…”
Yeah TOW: Just for grins, I’m a ‘Nam vet, but the only mud I stepped in was on the way to a bar in DaNang.
BUT… I coulda been a SEAL if watched the right movies.
His story sounds too much like he ripped a page out of a Vietnam War related novel.
That reads like a not-too-bright high school student’s attempt to write a Vietnam war novel.
Yeah, man, I hate those “cherries” too, doesn’t everyone?
That story is actually less interesting and less realistic than the one told by Major Payne (in the 1995 movie of the same name) about the “Little Engine that Could.”
Wait wait wait, the pilots didn’t look that burned up, but their helmets had melted and solidified? So did the reported huff the paint before, during and after the story and just run with what he had? No one’s that stupid are they?
Oh come on guys. He has a funny hat and a 1950s vintage G3 in that photo. Obviously he was training with zee Germans to become a pipe swinging badass shutter bug.
Did MACV-SOG even have any photographers? I thought their operations were supposed to be, ya know, secret. Seems like a guy snapping pictures would defeat the purpose, so that makes his story sound fishy.
Of course, I could be wrong about the photographers. Did they have any?
The way I understand it, if any photographing needed to be done (of NVA camps, facilities, pipelines, etc.) as part of the mission, the SOG operators would take the photos themselves with cameras issued by MACV-SOG for the mission. They would not take some specialized photographer along on the mission just so he can snap pictures that the SOG operator themselves would have done. This poser’s full of bullshit.
I am soooo excited, someone actually impersonated a photographer of some sort. I was feeling a little depressed that very few wanted to do this. I admit I wasn’t a combat photog, but a regular general all-purpose get it on film lensman. I m now excited
Yeah, me, too!
Why does he look like he’s wearing a baseball cap on his head, and standing in front of someone’s lilac bush in that photo?
Looks like either Westmorland or Abrams was involved in his reassignment to photographer duties, too.
Somehow, I kinda think anyone who’d actually been assigned to MACV-SOG would have said “SOG boss” or “Group Commander” – not “MAC-V boss” – when talking about his CO.
Yup, I can just imagine COMUSMACV GEN Westmoreland coming out of a staff meeting with the South Vietnamese JGS about the dire strategic situation in II Corps Central Highlands and then suddenly saying to his ADC, “Hey! That DeMulle fellah; great photo he took of that downed VNAF bird; let’s assign him to MACV-SOG CCN as the special CCN mission photographer!”. Yup, I’m sure that happened evry day…
There I was, in the Congo, with 20 on the left and 40 on right….
Just me and my trusty knife…
Turd.
He probably learned his trade from that dud(e) who repelled down the cliff in Cuba to get those pics for JFK.
I actually enjoy cherries, quite often I prefer the chocolate covered ones, but resting atop the whip cream that is floating on my chocolate shake is another awesome way to enjoy a cherry….
This sack of cherry pits however is another issue. In what universe does a special forces trooper get placed into the photo branch? Is it because he is a marsupial human with skin pouches to store cameras in? That would be good for ammo and food as well…
Sad sack plays photo journalist wannabe….geez…apparently not enough street cred from photographing his senior citizen neighbors through the blinds in the retirement community to suit his nefarious plans.
Send him to Merritt Island.
He can join All-Points Logistics PR department.
It looks like he’d be a shoo-in at FirsTech as well!!
I’ll bet he was attached to that same unit with that honorary CPOlesmoker who isn’t honorary nor honorable at all.
The article title where he is pictured holding the rifle should be re-titled:
“Milan Combat Cameraman – A New Fashion Trend by Prada”
He is not only a poser … he is a felon …

Dr. David DeMulle

Here’s his Facebook page. No mention of military service anywhere on it.

He hangs out with another low life “Big Nasty”
http://mopandbucket.blogspot.com/2014/02/michael-higby-big-nasty.html#!/2014/02/michael-higby-big-nasty.html
Hold the phone just there! That blog post calling me “The Big Nasty” is from another local blowhard who had a personal falling out with DeMulle years ago. He’s just as bad as DeMulle himself, except he did manage to do some stateside service in the 80s I guess. That blowhard is a huge lib pro-Obummer who blogs a lot of nonsense. I have nothing to do with DeMulle and as you see by my blog, I’ve called Doctor Doom for his BS too.

Stealing material from other publications? Putting out emails with other peoples’ addresses on them? Sounds like a real cornerstone of the community – NOT!!
Next, we might hear of him hanging out with someone in the PNW or Bethesda!
This dick and Burny Birdbath were knee deep in the shit with John Kerry Knifing fools and taking all sorts of pictures they cant prove it happened either!
Pretty sure he got that combat photographer idea from Full Metal Jacket. Stolen Valor really grinds my gears.
Too many full of s–t stories out there! How about not every one was a 11B mos, however had an important job to do whatever it might have been!! How about being proud to be an army cook in the boonies of the Parrot’s Beak, preparing meals from supply coming in off chinook sorties while mortars and rockets whizzed overhead at dawn?? I can read through most phonies and BS artists! A friend of mine was a Captain with MACV SOG. I do not believe a designated combat photographer was assigned to that unit? Personally I was an Arty surveyor and proud to have pulled steel tape through the boonies in order to accomplish successful traverse surveys.
You guys just keep stumbling on the real deep cover guys. Let me lay it out for you. Of course a name search will turn up nothing if the names have been changed. Names and SSNs mean nothing in the double black “clock and jaeger” world of mysterious operations wrapped in an enigma and cloaked in a question mark.
If there’s anyone that knows about such things, its me. http://thetruthaboutsocnetlies.wordpress.com/2012/04/10/why-john-giduck-archangel-group-and-russian-intelligence-make-good-bedfellows/
I’d say based on my extensive knowledge of the subject that what you need to search for are CB call signs. For instance , I says, “Pig Pen, this here’s the Rubber Duck. And I’m about to put the hammer down.”. Any spooky operator would immediately recognize the significance of such a statement. Best of all, such black communications can easily be hidden in plain sight.
Clearly, David DeMulle is “Pig Pen” in the example and I was easily able to search his CB call sign on the internet.
Let this be a lesson to you all. I’m awesome.
sincerely

Has APL not contacted you yet?!?!?!
You are compromising their operational system and ability to “hide” taxpayer money!
Mr. Thumb
They may have been trying to contact me but there was a 3-for-1 special on day old sushi and day old sprinkled donuts. That made for a busy day.
APL are second tier posers. I’m Spetsnaz tier 1.

The person in the photo is wearing a “Ridgeway Cap”, a stiffened version of the M1951 Patrol Cap. When Gen. Matthew Ridgeway became Army Chief of Staff in 1953, he had the troops put starched cloth or cardboard stiffeners (or “cap cheaters”) in their patrol caps to make them look “more soldierly”. Later, reinforced-crown versions were commercially available and soldiers were required to buy them at the PX.
Now, I’m not saying that DeMulle is telling the truth or that he’s the young man in the article’s photo. I’m saying that the photo from the article makes sense; the person was probably on duty in Europe in the mid- to late-1950s (1953-1959). The rifle looks like the CETME C, the interim issue Bundeswehr battle rifle used in 1956-1959 before the G3 was produced in 1959. I’m curious about how he got the photo, who it really is, and what they were doing when it was taken.
The question is – he’s a combat photographer. Where are his official and personal photos of Vietnam? And who took the one photo he has of “him” serving in Europe? No Training Class graduating photos, no military ID photos, no photos taken on leave or stateside? What gives?
Well, if all of the indicators are that this photo was taken in the late 1950s, and “the Mule” says it was taken in 1968, that’s another clue that he’s FOS.
Hmmm, let’s do a little math . . .
Est date of photo, 1958 – subtract 1958 from 2014, add 18 . . . damn, that’s one good-looking fella to be 74 years old!
A real Veteran commented on an album “A Different View Of Vietnam” on DeMulle’s Foothill Paper Facebook page
“These photos were MY photos I took in Vietnam. It would be nice to add CREDITS to photos as this don’t you think? I do sell and give the CD and DVD rom away, but with the stipulation you can post and print all you like but don’t take credit for them as yours. However there didn’t seem to be a need to give credit to the person who actually created these photos????? – vern http://www.asaslives.org”
Demulle’s response is “Vern Greunke is the photographer of some of these photos. Sorry I left his name off, they were in my album from when MACV assigned me to their operations for training. Thanks Vern.”
Is it just me, or is that a halfarsed apology that doesn’t really explain how he got those photos in his album?
He also has two different profiles on VetFriends, both listing different dates of service and ranks.
one profile (http://www.vetfriends.com/veterandirectory/?member=364485)
says he served from 68-72 at rank of Assim. Rank. Col
the other profile (http://www.vetfriends.com/veterandirectory/?member=1307762)
says he served from 65-85 at the rank of Major
VetFriends pages have been printed to PDF – in case they magically “disappear” or change.
So when and where was the picture taken? It’s very interesting.
I just found this comment from him on his paper Facebook page:
“SOG – Hatchet Team Pennsylvania. These FB fools started the rumor that I posted “stolen” photographs. Unfortunately for their credibility, I am in some of the pictures.”
and for the record, he did post “stolen” photos and was called out on it. He is in the photos that don’t look like they are legit.

He shows no remorse, in his latest posts he even mocks the whole “The Nam”, by referencing it in his recent breaking story.
This clown probably hangs out with Robert Hollingsworth.
Another stolen valor photographer.
Uh-oh. In addition to possessing “various degrees,” he claims a Ph.D. as well. (Say “CHEESE.”)It–and a whole lot more–is available though the link that follows. It’s a quick and quite humorous read, though the humor is unintended. In an editor’s note, we’re told that nothing in the story has been verified because the publisher’s people do not have the required security clearances. Right. Sure. Got it.

He has so many profiles he can’t keep it all straight. In one he says he went to law school in San Diego, and he somehow managed to get his doctorate while doing all his stealth military service. What a tool
He is trying to push this down on google search (paying to submit on brandyourself) by self promoting on other web sites. He has recently added 4 new sites, all self promoted with false accolades. Now he says he received the Order of St Stanislaus from Poland!
He continues to drive around with an SOG “proudly served” sticker on the back of his vehicle and hat. He said someone took off his sticker and he put another one on. Feel free to let him know he needs to come clean on his little website he has on facebook.
