Shawn Acker; phony Ranger IT guy

| July 30, 2014

Shawn Acker

Scotty sends us his work on Shawn Acker a director of information technology at a company. Acker thinks that somehow being a Ranger in 3/75th and having 2 Purple Hearts enhances his employment opportunities in that field;

Shawn Acker Bio

I doubt that it would, but, it doesn’t matter because he’s not a Ranger, he spent nine months in the Army once as an MP and got out as an E-2;

Shawn Acker FOIA

No Purple Hearts, but he did score the Army Service Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal – he could run for Congress in Mississippi, I suppose.

william derek church’s ranger danger buddy from RTB ?

MSGRetired

Stellar career ass clown. How do you know he was an MP ? I’m guessing he spent 9 months at Ft Mac but never finished and got the boot !

MSGRetired

Never mind checked Scotty’s site. Looks like he never made it to Germany no entry as signing in. What a Douche Pickle !

A Proud Infidel®™

He’s as filthy as a five cent hooker’s douchenozzle after pay day weekend!!

SJ

Wow! He got Airborne Wings AND a Parachutist Badge. Dont see that everyday /s

rb325th

No kidding, I was only given the Basic Parachutist Badge upon graduating from the US Army Airborne School.
I feel ripped off man…

SFC Von

Maybe you only get the Airborne wings from the correspondence course portion of Airborne school.

rb325th

hey don’t be hating on that correspondence course. I will have you know, the fold out section for the 30 foot towers was a real bitch to master.

Steadfast&Loyal

Why doesn’t any one want to impersonate an Ordnance Officer?

We get all the chicks.

AbnGramps82

I feel your pain Steadfast. I too never see anyone impersonating an Army Band member.

Retired Master

I don’t see anyone impersonationg military photograhers, even though it was a great job. Loved it!!

Nicki

Or 46 series (although the broadcast MOS seems to be a bit “cooler” than the print MOS). I feel left out.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

No 84C mopics eh?

CCO

Or Quartermasters.

Flagwaver

I remember that there was someone claiming to have been a Supply Officer not too long ago. The over-sized industrial douche didn’t know what a Property Book was (he said he couldn’t talk about it because it was classified), but he did impersonate QM Corps.

Smitty

I’m just glad we got a fake Ranger, everyone wants to be a fake SEAL lately. I blame all the movies about them

SJ

His FB pages says: “Studied Drinking/Partying at Cy-Fair High School Class of 1993”.

Nothing military on it so he does have that going for him.

David

Thunderstixx – that is on 290 just past 6.

Pineywoods NCO

Two questions stand out to me about this brainless moron.

1) Where did he get the Purple Hearts from? 1993 to 1997 if I recall was a relatively quiet period.

2) What is the Armed Forces Service Medal?

Other than that…don’t insult the Signal Regiment, Shawn..

Dull turd.

YankeeJim

As fas as i can guess, he could get the purple hearts from time in Bosnia, but that is a guess.

Hondo

As I recall, the only PHs for Bosnia went to the few guys who managed to get taken POW. Don’t think there were any others, but I’m not positive.

I’m pretty sure he’s not one of those guys, either.

Hondo
SFC Von

Any possibility someone getting one for Haiti?

Hondo

Don’t know for certain, SFC Von – but I’d guess no. The HRC link I noted lists PHs for every conflict since Vietnam, and it lists nothing for Haiti. If any PHs were issued in Haiti, my guess is that they’d be listed on that page.

Planet Ord

I recall maybe one being issued to an SF guy that got into a small firefight at a checkpoint southwest of Port-Au-Prince. If I recall correctly, he was killed. Then in early ’95 some of the line infantry guys got into a skirmish, but I don’t think any were wounded. I believe they were with the 10th, prior to the handover to the 25th. And if they were, they were not part of the Ranger regiment. Haiti didn’t even rate a combat patch. It was pretty quiet.

Hondo

True. One killed, one wounded according to this article:

http://www.spokesman.com/stories/1995/jan/13/us-soldier-killed-another-hurt-by-former-haitian/

Not clear to me if this was officially determined to be “enemy action” or crime. If the latter, no PH would be awarded.

The incident happened over 3 1/2 mo after the invasion, so I’d guess it was ruled the latter. And the article implies that was the early thinking as well. I could be wrong, though.

FatCircles0311

That’s shitty.

If somebody is shooting at you they are an enemy. In 2004 when the Marine Corps went back the Marines that were shot received purple hearts.

Green Thumb

The only injury this maggot received was bruising of the two-hole.

And I doubt the enemy inflicted that.

Hondo

PineywoodsNCO:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Forces_Service_Medal

It’s essentially issued for being a part of selected deployments to “non-hostile areas” that aren’t recognized by the HSM – sorta.

DoD instituted it in 1996. My guess is it was originally designed to reward peacekeeping service in Former Yugoslavia before it became obvious that area was dangerous enough to rate the AFEM (perhaps questionable, but it did for a while). It’s been authorized for a few other operations over the years as well.

It’s pretty useless IMO; YMMV. But it’s “on the books.”

Planet Ord

I had the same thought Jonn, but that would be some kind of record if that is what he meant. If he served from 1993-1997, that means he entered, did basic, AIT, and Ranger school, and was assigned to the regiment in less than ten months. Oh, and jump school.

Smitty

Straight from airborne to RIP it would be doable. I know quite a few guys that went in with RIP contracts, but I don’t know if they were doing those in 93

Flagwaver

I know they were doing them in ’96. My recruiter tried to offer me one, but I declined.

Hondo

True. However, the FOIA reply says he served from 20 Sep 93 to 15 July 1994 – just under 10 mo – not until 1997. And his record of assignments at Scotty’s site (linked above) shows him departing McClellan for Germany on 27 Jan 1994 vice going to either Somalia or Hunter. So I think it’s fairly clear he didn’t end up in Somalia – or in the 75th.

CCO

1) Unless you went to Somalia (or –to a much lesser extent Rwanda).

2) Defense Service Medal, maybe.

CCO

Oops, John L., didn’t see your post.

Hondo

CCO: true. But this guy’s record of assignments at Scotty’s site show him in CONUS until 27 Jan 1994, then enroute to Germany. During Feb and Mar 1994, I don’t think there were many US WIA in Somalia. And for the same reason I noted above, I don’t think there were any Army PHs issued for actions in Rwanda (none listed by HRC for that location and period). In contrast, 188 are listed for Somalia and 16 are listed for Former Yugoslavia.

MGySgtRet

It is amazing to me that this guy, who has what appears to be a position of trust in his company and who has what appears to be a pretty damn good job would just fabricate his military bio and risk all of that.

Presumably he has a family he is providing for and all of the attendant responsibilities that brings, and yet he is willing to throw that away by trying to rock a lie that is bound to come back and bite you in your lying ass.

Just cannot understand the mind of the poser. Maybe instead of looking at NFL players brains, scientists could study what makes these posers tick.

SFC Von

… And the company has changed his Bio page- totally removed the portion with the Ranger info. Only thing they could do better is to remove the offender.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Cut this guy some slack …

He FOIA says he almost completed ONE FULL year!

That is alot for these goons!

Hondo

MCPO: yeah, that peacetime duty in Germany in the 1990s after Desert Storm was damned tough – that land of Autobahnen, Bier, Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Schweinshaxen, Spaetzel, Brochen, schnelle Autos, hübsche junge Frauen . . . . And he apparently lasted roughly 6 months before something happened and he got sent home!

Well, that’s if he didn’t go AWOL rather than going to Germany. As MSGRetired notes above, there is no entry showing that he ever reported in to a unit in Germany in his records.

Biermann

You forgot Jägermeister.

Green Thumb

And vomit.

Hondo

I never did care for Jägermeister that much, Biermann.

Dave Hardin

All these years I thought they were giving me Vicks Formula 44.

MGySgtRet.

You are right Master Chief. What the hell was I thinking?

Acker just proves what a poser can accomplish if he has the intestinal fortitude to hang on for 11 months before getting the boot!!

A Proud Infidel®™

Eeeeyeah, he DID wait at least a few months before he wussed out, we can give him/it that!

USMCE8Ret

I’m still waiting for the John “Faker 6” Giduk comment…

He was not IN Gothic Serpent. He ATE the Gothic Serpent. AFSM also stands for ‘Ate Fifty Sammitches, Man’.

I can do more.

Why does no one pretend to be Ordinance guys? Probably afraid of your explosive personalities.

Why not Band members/Musicians? They’d have to play something besides air piano and air guitar.

The list is long. Shall I go on? Suppertime!!!

Green Thumb

Funny.

The link has a picture of the CIB (memorial).

And fat boy does not claim one.

Simple omission, of course.

SJ

That one picture on Vetfriends looks like a Vietnam location and uniforms from that era, not the 90’s? And, I swear we’ve seen that picture used by another poser. Hondo, the guy who remembers everything, can probably comment.

GDContractor

I think those photos are just generic photos the website splashes up there. I think that to see any content uploaded by the users, you have to pay and register. I might be wrong…. I think those were the same pics shown when we found Heavy Chevy’s account.

Hondo

Linked page has been archived in case it “mysteriously” changes for some reason.

As someone pointed out, the company webpage under this turd’s name has been scrubbed.

Curious as to if others on the management team for the Willis Group are cool here with this shitbird’s claims.

Maddie

I am glad I found this site. I am retiring in September and am looking to fluff up my resume.
After viewing this page I have figured out I can put just about any award the military has ever given anyone on their and no one will check (unless its one of you). I am thinking about using some of the following:

•Spanish Campaign Medal (Spanish-American War)
•Spanish War Service Medal (Spanish-American War)
•Cuban Occupation Medal
•Puerto Rican Occupation Medal
•Philippine Campaign Medal
•Philippine Congressional Medal (Philippine Insurrection)
•Cuban Pacification Medal
•Victory Medal, Authorized in 1919
•Lafayette Flying Corps Medal 2-19-2003
•The Philippine Congressional Medal
•The Naval Medal of Honor, Authorized in 1861
•The West Indian Naval Campaign Medal

Opinions, suggestions?

j/k of course

nbcguy54

Pay the extra money to have Medals of America mount them for you. That way they’ll be in the correct order of precedence. That’s always a dead giveaway by fakers. Get some commemorative medals too. They help fill up your rack.

Hondo

True for all but that “Naval Medal of Honor”. Medals of America can’t legally sell that one.

It’s still in use today, just without the “Naval” part in its title.

nbcguy54

Hey – that means that the three that I have are worth some money… Hey Faker 6, have I got a deal for you!

John "Faker 6" Giduck

I’m not falling for that…. again… or unless they are really shiny.

ArmyATC

Seems like this is a company that cares about veterans and honest employees. I just received this e-mail from Tim Stroud – Director of Veteran Initiatives and a former Army Combat Medic of OIF. It seems that Acker has been confronted about his claims and is being let go.

“I just finished a meeting with our CEO and President regarding the Stolen Valor. We are officially distancing ourselves from this individual and transitioning him out of our organization. Thank you in support of all veterans who have served honorably, including myself. After being apprised of this falsification three weeks ago, we confronted the individual and gave him an opportunity to not let this fully affect the rest of his (and his families’) life.

The Willis Group believes in second chances and thought corrective action would allow us to refocus our attention on hiring veterans and their family members. Please post something to this affect since it may hinder our efforts to help veterans and their family members. We have made great strides in the last 90 days to help veterans across the United States and would love your support as we continue our efforts.

Our Valor for Vets program has gained tremendous momentum and we are on the verge of hiring hundreds of veterans on two projects. Linking our program with him may derail our efforts.

Served proudly,

Tim Stroud – Director of Veteran Initiatives, former combat medic, U.S. Army (OIF)”

Green Thumb

Roger that.

This appears to be a “stand up” company run by “stand up” people.

Good.

Now only is All-Points Logistics would follow this model.

ArmyATC…Thank you fro the post.

Mr. Tim Stroud, Sir, thank you as well for serving our great country. Thank you for your support and swift action in dealing with this issue. I know it was difficult for your organization but you folks are stand up people. You have my full faith and support and I wish you and your organization all the best in the future.

nbcguy54

Ya see – that how REAL veterans take care of business (NCO business).

Props to Mr. Stroud and a great post ArmyATC – btw, ever ATC in Fulda?

ArmyATC

No. I was at Schwaebisch Hall as a 71P with the 59th ATC Bn. I went over to the dark side later and got my Tac rating as well as ratings at 23AL and ORTI towers.

nbcguy54

Aw man. You missed the fun. When I was at SAAF in Fulda in the mid-eighties, our tower was supposedly the busiest one in the Army. Lots of border flying…

ArmyATC

I left Schwaebisch Hall in 84. We did a few flights along the border.

SJ

Wow. That is impressive! Hope Jonn and Scotty will “Front Page” it. Willis Group deserves huge accolades. It may get attention of current and future posers to clean up their act.

Just sayin……

Dave Hardin
Dave Hardin

Hi, I am Dave Hardin I have been more screwed up than Hogan’s Goat during my life. I have been broke, separated, and left with 3 kids to raise full time on my own. I never once used my status as a veteran to feed any of them or pay a bill. Instead I took a job as a maintenance man at a camp ground for minimum wage. I continue to screw things up almost on a daily basis but I do not blame my experiences in the military for them. I am not a victim because of my service and neither are you.

Scotty

Thank you Army ATC and Tim Stroud

And a big thank you to Mark Willis, the CEO & President of the Willis Group. I will be adding this e-mail to Acker’s BoS.

Let this be a lesson and a example to all POSers. No t everyone is going to drink your kool-aid . You may fool some. But you will be caught.

I thin I’ll send him my resume.

Ackerman has been let go over his “bio”. Per this on from Scottie:

A big hearty BRAVO ZULU to the Willis Group!

Pass the word, push business their way and use them as the example in terms of hiring Vets and doing the right thing.

SJ

Which is why I hope Jonn and Scotty will front page this good news. As it is, it is buried.

Combat Historian

Let this be a lesson to the posers, fakers, liars, and embellishers out there. There are good and honorable business owners and employers out there who don’t take kindly to being conned and lied to, and they will quickly terminate and fire you for your BS and lies. Please let this sink in…

AverageNCO

A few years ago I was at event my wife was participating in. In fact it was the same event I met Rick Fine at. Anyway, I was talking with one of the other husbands and he asked what I did, and I told him I was in the Air Force. He asked what my “MOS” was, I told him I was a medic, and we use the term AFSC. Since he knew the term MOS, I asked if he was in the Army or Marines. His answer was that he was “briefly” in the Army, but “it didn’t work out.” We’re often quick to judge guys like this, but I think this guy handled it in the most honorable way possible. He didn’t lie, he didn’t make anything up. So he didn’t go into detail. He didn’t need to explain anything any further to me. So the Army didn’t work out for him. No shame in that. At least he tried to enlist. The military isn’t for everyone. This Acker guy didn’t need to lie either. Even if he was totally kicked out for something really embarrasing, he may not necessarily have to bring that up either depending if you were charged or not. It’s one thing to not be able to hack it in the military. That is understandable. It’s completely something else to over-compensate your military shortfals with BULLSHIT. NO EXCUSE.

SJ

Well said. I hope posers will read that.

Hack Stone

He will be packing up the family and moving to Merritt. Island, that is. Definately All Pounts Logistics material.

Green Thumb

I wonder if this dirtbag has resurfaced yet.
