I predict that the Taliban/al Qaeda will overrun Afghanistan before this jackass leaves office. Iraq is done, with the possible exception of the Kurdish parts. You’re doin’ a hell of a job, Barry.
News yesterday was that the Kurds have left the Iraqi parliament (or whatever it’s called). I do expect to see them become an independent Kurdistan. Had Lloyd George forgotten to add them to his ‘list’ for the Versailles treaty signing, they might have become more independent back then.
They had no powerful patrons in Paris and were not yet able to speak for themselves, being too busy with cattle raids, abductions, clan wars and general brigandage, slaughtering Armenians and just surviving.

I just finished reading that book. A fascinating look at history. I loved it. So many What-Ifs could be written on this time period.
My next read will be “Lawrence In Arabia” Scott Anderson, Anchor Books.
