Ahmed Abu Khattala, Benghazi leader captured
Ahmed Abu Khattala, reputed to be the leader of the Benghazi attack on September 11, 2012, has been captured by US Special Forces this weekend, according to Fox News;
Sources told Fox News that the suspect, Ansar al-Sharia commander Ahmed Abu Khattala, was captured Sunday during a joint U.S. military and law enforcement operation, and will face prosecution in the United States.
President Obama signed off on the mission on Friday night, Fox News is told. He was captured south of Benghazi by U.S. special operators and is on his way to the U.S. aboard a Navy ship.
Khattala was long thought to be one of the ringleaders of the deadly attack, in which U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans died. He had openly granted media interviews since the 2012 attack, but until now evaded capture.
NBC News reported that the charges against Ahmed Abu Khattala were filed under seal last year.

Given the intricacies of a trial based on US law with evidence gathered overseas through multiple agencies, some of which I have to assume are not law enforcement organizations, and the public flailing of the administration to lay blame for the attacks on everyone but Islamist jihadist, I’ll give the probability of conviction at 49/51 in favor of Khattala.
One positive is that the discovery process might yield some interesting answers to questions about Obama, Clinton, and Rice.
If he does not “disappear” like those IRS emails.
I guess job one for the interrogators is to explain to this guy that the reason (the only reason) he led the attack is because of an anti-Islam video on the internet, and that’s his story and he’s sticking to it.

Sorry for being such a skeptic but that’s come to be my natural reaction to every pronouncement from this most closed, opaque and dishonest administration ever.

I was peripherally involved in those courts-martial (had to pick up Haji Baba at Cropper and transport him to the CH. They used my terps for back ups).

Khattala didn’t evade capture. Hell, he was literally sipping a strawberry frappe at a hotel a month after the Benghazi attack. How do we know this? Um, how about he was interviewed by David D. Kirkpatrick of the New York Times IN BENGHAZI at that hotel on or about October 18, 2012. He was probably in the freakin’ Benghazi White Pages and on People Find.

Yeah, they got their initial evidence from CNN (remember?) and probably got Khattala’s cell phone number from Kirkpatrick at the NYT. How many weeks was it before the FBI arrived on scene to begin its investigation? I forget but I recall that there was a large gap. I can understand that.
