Chance Perkins; veteran saving the world

| June 11, 2014

This is the story of veteran Chance Perkins who stopped to get gas one evening and witnessed a man shoot a woman near by;

But instead of running away in fear for his own life, he says his training kicked in and he tackled the alleged killer.

The female victim has been identified by police as Cyril Chatman Jones, 33.

“He still had his pistol in his hand and he shot at me,” Perkins said. “He shot at me three times while I’m grabbing him and we’re struggling.”

Perkins finally got the man on the ground, but not before the shooter fired off one more shot.

Amazingly, Perkins was not hurt.

Perkins said, “In my heart, I know what’s right. I knew it and when I saw that happen, I mean, I couldn’t live with myself if I just walked away or if I just ran or something, you know, I couldn’t do that.”

I’m sure you saw that on the evening news, right? No? I wonder why.

“It’s called doing the hard right.” He said more worth hearing in 10 seconds at the end of the interview than all of the public statements issued by The Emperor and every member of Congress since I don’t know when. He was raised right. He was trained right. He did right.

I know what it is to have someone walk on by when you need help. I like reading stories like this — it helps me keep my faith in humanity.

Bare hands against a gun? That’s one brave man.

Arguably a touch foolish, too. But one brave man.

Clearly the shooter caught the PTSD from being that close to a vet, he can’t be blamed for his actions

Hi, y’all! I don’t consider it brave or anything. I’m not that dumb; this man was like, 50 something, he had to of been on something. He did not see me, and I assessed the situation. Foolish? perhaps, but I knew I could get him. And if that was my loved one I pray someone would step up, too, if they were acutely aware of the high possibily of being able to bring a murderer to justice. Oh, I was with 5-82 FA 4th BCT 1st CAV for 3 years before I went to 10th mountain. FYI for the cav gentlemen above me. 🙂
