Could the Lure of a Pulitzer Trump Obama’s Nobel?

| December 10, 2013

There is growing speculation among conservatives that many Democrats may be looking to distance themselves from their once infallible leader. It appears that even some of Obama’s former true believers are finding in this ObamaCare boondoggle that that there is less truth than they originally were led to believe when it comes to this prevaricating president. While I definitely agree that there is growing discontent within the liberal ranks, I believe there’s another threat coming for Obama that may be even more devastating than being deserted by his fellow Democrats and the voters who put him in office.

Remember, this unknown, inexperienced, Chicago politician only survived the primary against Hillary Clinton and the subsequent general election because the supposed watchdog media refused to do their jobs and investigate a résumé containing so many black holes and lack of substantiation that it would never have made it through the routine vetting required in the usual corporate hiring process. What America didn’t know about young Barack far outweighed what we did know but the liberal media was far more consumed by the liberal dream of a Black president than they were by the possibility that he might not be qualified for the job. They were so obsessed with their politically correct vision that they even turned against their previous liberal love interest, Hillary Clinton. Through four years of Obama’s first term and through re-election, the media stubbornly refused to do their jobs and find out for their viewers and readers just who this man really is.

But what if that should change? As the Obama White House comes under more frequent and pointed criticism for its arrogant treatment of the media and more revelations of continuing, systemic dishonesty come to light, just how long will it be before some enterprising editor wakes up to the opportunity that his very own equivalent of the Pentagon Papers or Deep Throat/Watergate could be staring him right in the face? All he need do is assign an investigative team to find out just how extensive the dishonesty surrounding this, up until now, unexamined president really is and how deep into his past it goes. If you review the past winners of The Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting, you will discover that, unlike other categories such as international reporting, many of the awards have gone to smaller newspapers, not just the dominant liberal publications like the NYT, WaPo, the Chicago Trib and LA Times. Yes, the big papers still dominate the category but lesser lights also have a chance to grab this gold ring of journalism and sometimes succeed. And every editor and reporter out there knows that once bestowed, Pulitzer Prize Winner is a lifetime honorific that confers professional esteem and career benefits right up until it features prominently in your celebrity obituary, a tempting lure for sure.

Do you not suppose that thought already may be percolating in the minds of some of those who decide the course of those smaller, but still significant, publications? And can you not imagine that the grating, high-handed manner in which the White House is attempting to control all media coverage isn’t fueling at least a few such mutinous thoughts? Journalists are supposedly ingrained with an eagerness to expose the unseemly, especially if they are the first in their field to do so, to scoop the story. It can’t have been easy for some of the less liberal among both reporters and editors to have been forced to tamp down their professional curiosity for five years or more so as to protect America’s first black president, especially in less politically doctrinaire news organizations scattered about flyover country.

So while Obama’s downfall might originate there in the hinterlands he so disdains, it is exponentially more dangerous for Barack Obama that there may be a publisher and editor in New York, Washington, Chicago, or Los Angeles, at one of the titan organizations with the requisite resources, who’s tiring of the growing arrogance of the administration in its media dealings. It is not completely far-fetched to consider that as the outright dishonesty and stonewalling of this supposedly most transparent of administrations continues and expands, some publishing mogul may be weighing the prestige awaiting his newspaper should it be the first to expose the truth of Barack Obama’s too-good-to-be-true political ascent. And in an age of declining readers and ad revenues, an ongoing series of blockbuster revelations about the greatest fraud ever perpetrated might be a way to change that trend.

As for the investigators themselves, I’ll wager there are already some disenchanted reporters who are beginning to envision themselves as future Woodwards and Bernsteins, but on an even grander scale. And unlike those two reporters of an earlier era, any investigators of Obama’s mysterious past would have far more avenues of enquiry and who knows how many potential Deep Throats who, upon learning that the media is finally interested in listening to them, might reveal all sorts of information about Obama’s past that could disprove the official version and explain why there are so many blank areas in Obama’s résumé. And why he should never have been president. It will be interesting to see if the lure of a Pulitzer can trump a Nobel.

Yep, it absolutely will happen.

There are youngsters out there somewhere who are not emotionally involved in this administration beyond perhaps having worked the campaign as a student. Or maybe an aging reporter looking for one last big story.

The rub here is that to finally tell the truth, any reporter must first admit, at least internally, to having been duped. Even the best among them will not do that comfortably. But some are willing to learn from their mistakes. Or at least take a run at the most coveted reward in the industry.

When that flood gate opens, the results will be very interesting. And perhaps quite dangerous.

My guess is that the investigation is being done, but very quietly. It won’t be aired immediately, for fear of Biden becoming President in wake of a possible presidential impeachment. If they intend to flame BO, they’ll do it timed to create exactly the right response, turning the yowling liberal horde loose to vote for the NEW AND IMPROVED LIBERAL VISIONARY that will run for office in 2016. The last thing they will want to do is cause their constituents to vote for any conservative out of a fit of pique.

Any reporter or editor who breaks ranks will most likely not survive professionally.
People don’t talk about Obama, unless privately, their words are far from being about race, hate, disrespect or anger what I grasp is fear.

My Opinion is crap I know but my opinion is the POTUS will win a third term as a write in with almost 100 % of the votes and no one will disagree on the outcome.
Fear keeps the media in line.

I don’t see it. Here’s a guy who’s already dodged some serious known associates issues (Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers, etc), kept his college records under wraps (bad grades and foreign student aid grants the likely reason), and who will never wash the stink of Illinois politics off his resume. His administration, by any practical measure, has been devoid of positive accomplishment (unless you’re a progressive statist). He’s had a willing and complicit media, a front-loaded Federal bureaucracy of technocrats who use regulatory power to crush dissent, and a cult of personality in the black community that borders on a Jim Jones type of devotion.

There may me some sort of retrospective analysis done at or near the conclusion of his term, but I don’t think you’ll see traditional media peel back the layers of this Bloomin’ Onion of Fail.

Unfortunately, I think we’re in for about 40 more years of Obama worship. Regardless of who inherits this debacle of a presidency, you can bet he will consider himself the de facto conscience of liberal politics for the rest of his life. So will about 47% of America.

Oh, ye of little faith, cynics that you be.

This administration is, and has been since the fall of 2012, the subject of one scandal after another. This a continuing process. Eventually, the crap produced comes home to roost and if you can’t see, as Poetrooper does, that it is piling up deeper and deeper, you are not paying attention. The idiot-in-charge is not going to complete his second term in office.

His sphere of influence ended before the 2012 election. Intentionally annoying a reporter like Bob Woodward was one of the dumber examples of what is wrong here. The subsequent stupid maneuvers — should I give you a list? — have resulted in a massive loss in bodaprez’s base of support in the masses. The media are also waking up (finally) to the fact that Shiftless is on the throne and they put him there, and they don’t like what they see, which is that they’ve been hosed.

There are more scandals to come, stuff that he can’t hide any more, that will shut him down.

And for pete’s sake, lighten up a little. Christmas is coming.

Ex-PH2

That should be ‘before the fall of 2012’. Sorry about that.

No, Obama survived against Hillary because she, more than Billy the Serial Rapist, had made enemies among Progressives. Hillary’s habit of using the FBI and IRS to go after her enemies scared Progressives as well as centrists and folks on the Right. Hillary’s misuse of power made her the Che of her political generation.

Reporters, journalists, thought-leaders and editors are Employees. In this economy, if you have a job, with perks like being around powerful people who have power and the power to get more power (power is the greatest drug of history) – you don’t fire yourself by writing an in-depth expose’ of Obama and his regime.

@5 Ex-PH2 Oh how I hope you are right! I have never in my life said that I hated a President. But Obama, I HATE, with a passion. He has done more harm to this nation than any president in history. In my opinion. He has used our troops like cannon fodder and wants to keep them in Afghanistan with more restrictive ROE to be sure we kill more of them. Plus he wants to line the pockets of Karzai and his ilk for the privilege to stay. When we leave they will be the first ones on the planes with suitcases of cash wanting asylum in America. Just like Vietnam. I hope and pray the media starts really digging and finds something to bring him up for impeachment.
And…Merry Christmas to you as well!

@7 I may very well be far too optimistic, but I think that Hillary won’t be elected.

She has all the negatives of her husband and none of the positives. At least Bill can be very, very charming, and he is a very practical politician.

On the other hadn, Hillary is a true believer which makes her even more unlikeable…and dangerous.

Don’t get me wrong. Bill is a schmuck. It’s just that Hillary is worse.

However, I never thought I would see the day when I looked back on the Clinton years with even a teeny weeny bit of nostalgia. Whew!

brat

Wish I could share your optimism, Ex-PH2, that this admin will not last this second term..seems to me that no matter how many obvious scandals there have been (and yep, agree with you, more to come) not even the lure of a Pulitzer will be enough to induce any journo to break the ranks, never mind an editor/owner ballsy enough to ‘publish and be damned’…

But hey, National Enquirer was nominated a couple of years back, so pigs may fly yet..

DaveO, Slick Willy is a philandering SOB. If you expect me to think that Monica Lewinski was an unwilling participant in what he did, in her graphic description of it, you need a quick dose of reality. She went after him the way a pie-eating contestant dives on a pie – full force, no holds barred, evidenced by the way she threw herself at him every time he was within reach, with that big, shiteating grin on her face.

Dig up the news videos of her giving him ‘a hug’ and tell me she isn’t grinning like a shiteating ape. She was and is nothing but an opportunistic slut in an expensive dress, and saw Clinton as an opportunity to push herself into the same slutty trash news stories that Kim Kardashian now occupies.

If that jackass had had the common sense to keep his pants zipped and pull that crap elsewhere, we might not have gotten such a huge story out of it, but all the grungy details were fed to the press the way you feed hogs – fill the trough and keep feeding it.

And frankly, I’m quite sure that Hillary knew all about it and kept her trap shut until it was described to the press, every disgusting bit of it.

Hell, even Henry Miller didn’t write about sex that way. It was nothing but graphic porn for the paparazzi.

Unfortunately for Lewinski, it didn’t turn into what she thought it would, and where is she now? What’s it been? Hmmm, nearly 20 years, now, right?

OWB

PH: They were/are both philandering horndogs. That was just the way they played, by mutual agreement. It suited their purpose to have her perceived as the aggrieved little woman, It just wasn’t true.

You do know that they both kept apartments in Little Rock for playpens, right? (One of the worst kept secrets ever.) Since neither of them cared, I am still trying to figure out why I should. Well, except for the defiling of the WH, the criminal assaults, and such. The philandering with consenting adults? Not so much.

@11 Thanks Ex. I feel the same way about, Bill, Monica and Hillary in their little Oval Office affair. Monica got everything she wanted at the time. Just didn’t pay off in the long run. Any common sense, thinking intern could have seen that outcome a mile away. I agree with Mustang @9 though. Hillary is not Bill and has too much baggage, not even counting her hips, to get elected in 2016. I don’t even think the DNC is looking at her in any way except to be polite.

David

actually, the Clintons are one reason I believe BO actually was born in the US – you can bet your last dollar the Clinton’s researched the hell out of that in 2008. That would have been Hillary’s get-ou-of-jail-free card – if they could have proved BO was foreign born, she would have swept the campaign. You KNOW they checked that down to the last detail. I don’t believe BO, but I’m betting on Clinton ambition, venality and cupidity.

DaveO

#11 Ex-PH2: I wasn’t referring to Monica Lewinsky. Slick Willy has a history of being accused of rape, but Lewinsky was not one of the women. And nice that you took the focus off of Hillary, who will be using Sexism as the new Racism to propel herself to the Dem nomination.

Sparks

@15 Well said, you are right about Hillary’s strategy. Come around 2015 or so, sexism will start coming out of the woodwork in every discussion.

John

“As for the investigators themselves, I’ll wager there are already some disenchanted reporters who are beginning to envision themselves as future Woodwards and Bernsteins,”

Keep this in mind: When the newsies say such flattering things about the president, they are really talking about themselves. As such, only when it is more self-flattering to say bad things will they do so.

The next time the media admits they weren’t doing their jobs will be the first time.

The Dems who are running for the hills are a laugh riot. Even some who are not facing re-election in the senate are stepping back, hoping to be around after The Emperor hits the lecture circuit or ditches Ms. All-This-for- A-Flag Michele and comes out of the closet, both on the same day. Of course the Dems are slippin’ and slidin’ all over the place, making themselves out to be victims of deceit, executive agency incompetence, or both. It’s not THEIR fault that they voted, sight unseen, for OBAMACARE. They were hoodwinked! [Insert Brooklyn Bridge ‘FOR SALE’ sign here.]

Ex-PH2

DaveO, I wasn’t taking the focus off of Hillary. Not in a million years. I’ve known for a long time what her ambitions were, but the fact that Lewinsky described her torrid episodes in such detail during the impeachment proceedings, AND that it was published, is what set Hillary off.
I doubt that she was remotely put off by SlickWillie’s sluttiness.

Her anger was that it got published in the main press instead of the tabloids, and she was, indeed, quite furious over it.

The tip-off was the cold, hard, bitch anger face that she had when the two of them were leaving the National Cathedral after a service, following the appearance of the gross details in the mainstream media, not over what he did, or with whom he did it.

Have you seen the angry bitch face on her lately? No. Not even when she was under questioning about Benghazi. Are she and that asshole still together? Yes they are, and you can bet that if she somehow does win the nomination – and I think she will – and the subsequent election, he’ll be waiting in the wings to be her ‘chief advisor’.

It used to be that slutty men in politics was nothing new, but if it appeared in the press BEFORE and election, you were toast, e.g., Gary Hart. The object is to keep your whoring discreet before you get elected. Hart didn’t do that. Clinton did, but it got away from him with Lewinski.

Mr. Blue

The key is the Midterm Elections of 2014:
The default position of the press is to hold off until after November to aviod damaging the Democratic brand. Afterwards, when there is no benefit to defending Obama, but a whole lot of negitives for whoever will run in 2016, the knives will come out. Expect the canidates to actively distance themselves from Obama’s policies.

BUT, if the Dems running for offices in 2014 find that being shocked, SHOCKED! at the incompetence of the Obama admin is a good way to garner votes, well, under the bus he goes.

TN

The MSM waking up to the misdeeds of Obama is merely their way of proving their “objectivity,” while helping “moderate” progressives retain their seats, and setting up Hillary for the 2016 campaign.

Obama impeached? Not likely, at least not while Reid runs the Senate. And who really thinks putting Uncle Joe’s finger on the red button is a good idea?

Yeah, you may think that this is a good development, but unless conservatives can demonstrate the links between Obama, ObamaCare, and these scandals to the “at risk” party loyalists that make these things possible, nothing really changes.
