Hatin’ on the drones
Lead spokesman for the Taliban, Hamid Karzai, is once again attacking the US drone program, according to the Washington Post. It looks like two women might have been injured in a recent strike and a child killed. But Karzai said he heard about the strike from a local governor, so he really has no first hand knowledge of the casualties. And no one is mentioning how many Taliban might have been killed in the strike.
“This attack shows that American forces are not respecting the life and safety of Afghan people’s houses,” he said in the statement. He added, “For years, our innocent people have become victims of the war under the name of terrorism, and they have had no safety in their homes.”
He said he won’t sign the security agreement if such “oppressions by foreign forces continue.”
It was unclear from his statement whether he was calling for an end of all drone strikes or just attacks that target homes.
The alleged death of the child comes one week after Karzai accused U.S. Special Operations forces of killing two Afghan civilians during a raid on a house in eastern Afghanistan. Karzai’s assertion angered coalition commanders, who insisted that the men were “armed insurgents.” They accused Karzai of using “allegations of civilian deaths for political purposes.”
Rumors have it that the new agreement for continued US presence in Afghanistan restricts American troops from entering or striking any dwelling – which means that enemy forces can simply go inside to avoid being killed by US troops. That sounds like a tough strategy.
Last week, in Pakistan two Taliban commanders were killed while they were hiding out in a seminary, four others were killed who were clerics or students. It seems to me that the leaders of Pakistan and Afghanistan would be more upset that the enemy is hiding in innocents’ homes or churches, but I guess it’s easier to hate on the good guys.
It also highlights the difficulty of this administration that leans heavily on the Joe Bite Me robot ninja zombie strategy instead of making the tough decision to fully staff the “surge” of 2009 like they should have in the first place.

Just for the record, it was an Islamic seminary that was hit. Pope Francis wasn’t involved.
Is it possible? That bodaprez won’t get to have his way on this one?
Is that even remotely possible?
Oh, please keep doing stupid things, PLEASE!
Wait — am I dreaming again?
those drones should be brought up on charges! i cant believe we have let these evil drones run amok for so long killing innocent terrorists who never did anything to hurt anyone they thought was worth living. We have freedom of religion here, we should extend that to the poor terrorists. if they feel it is part of their religion to blow up americans or their fellow afgani citizens, what gives the drones any right to stop them?
Evil drones. Scary evil drones. We simply MUST do something to control those evil, scary drones. Especially those evil, scary, black drones. The pink ones are OK. They just make air drops to remote unicorn locations and make magical skittle harvesting possible.

This article, about aggressive behavior in male fruit flies, applies directly to the AQs and Taliban. They don’t hang out with women enough, if at all. If they did, they’d be far less likely to suffer a drone attack. But there is hope. A neuro-chemical GABA is at the root of it. If we can just up their GABA levels, they’ll see how follish they are and quit being aggressive.
Wonder if vinegar works against drones as well as it works against chemtrails??
Hatin’ on the Drones: a new hit song, with the melody for ‘Anything Goes’.
Is this how the Cylon Wars began?
Hey, don’t hate the player- hate the game!
(Ithink that’s how the kids say it…)
Are they assault drones? We should ban them or make them have 10 missiles or less.
Lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas. Hang out with terrorists, you get splattered in a drone strike. How is this simple logic hard to understand?
PN: Not enough nuance in there. You simply do not understand nuance. You must be conservative.
(When we got that lesson is about when I started thinking of nuance meaning gobble-dee-guck, at least when used by a libbie. Or the media. Oh, never mind.)
@11 At the best of times, I’m about as subtle as a nine pound hammer.
Nuance? That’s a sauce for roasted duck, ain’t it? 😉
I hate afghanistan, Karzai and the RoP but, I love me some drones.
I think each drone carry’s 8 hell-fires per clip? Is that right?
Does Karzai intend to put a stop to the mortar attacks on US troops any time soon?
This is in tonight’s news:

“He said he won’t sign the security agreement if such “opressions by foreign forces continue.””
PLEASE!! DON’T sign the new treaty. We need to be out of there YESTERDAY. And all out stuff with us, or destroyed to unusable ash. Don’t even leave scrap metal behind.
What we can’t ruck, truck, drag, or fly out of that cesspool, we should burn. Cut off any and all government aid, and make it illegal for any aid from any American source to go in.
Take only what is ours, and leave only empty brass.
Leave Karzai exactly what he wants: Hell in a handbasket.
