Jonathon Cullifer; phony Marine
Meet Jonathon Cullifer, according to what he tells anyone who will listen, he was a Marine for 17 years, a sniper, Force recon and that he’s served in Kosovo, Bosnia, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan, that he earned two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars. And his hands are registered in 48 states – I don’t what they’re registered as, probably earned Expert Pudpulling Badge.
But, yeah, I know he’s wearing an Army uniform with Army badges and patches, even an Army name tape. Of course, that’s probably because Army stuff looks cooler than Marine stuff – I mean that 2d award of the Combat Infantry Badge looks pretty snazzy doesn’t it? Better than a crusty old Combat Action Ribbon.
Well, according to Scotty, none of that is true. Here’s his DD214;
And here’s his schooling;
In his assignments, I see that he was stationed at 8th & I as a guard in a security company, a clerk at 29 Palms, then a nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) specialist at 29 Palms. But, nope, nothing overseas. He has two Navy Achievement Medals, one for being a legal clerk and another for being an NBC specialist, but oddly enough, no Purple Hearts or Bronze Stars.
That picture above was taken at a Memorial Day ceremony in Vacaville, CA, where he laid it on pretty thick with the crowd and the reporter of the local rag;
For former Marine Staff Sgt. Jonathan Cullifer, part of Memorial Day is about honoring the fellow Marine who was shot and killed while tending to the wound Cullifer had suffered while the men were fighting in the second battle for Fallujah.
It was the roughest urban fight the Marines had seen since the Battle of Hue City during the Vietnam war in 1968. The Marines lost 107 in the battle to take Fallujah back from the insurgents.
“I made it back here because of one such hero,” said Cullifer of the Marine he described as “that young man and my best friend.”
Cullifer, who served as a Marine for 17 years with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, was the guest speaker for the Memorial Day ceremony held amid the flag-bedecked graves of veterans buried in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Looking out at the large crowd that didn’t let the persistent light rain stop them from honoring the dead, Cullifer said “It was heartening that so many remember these heroes.”
It is, however, disheartening that Cullifer forgot about honor in the thirteen years that he’s been out of the Marines. You should click over and read the rest at Scotty’s place.
Category: Phony soldiers
So..nearly 8 years of otherwise honorable service….and it wasn’t good enough? You had to piss on those 8 years with absolute bullshit?
what a waste.
I don’t get why any Marine, who served any amount of time, would wear Army camis. The army already admitted they blew over 10 billion dollars on them and they don’t like them. What gives?
Easy, Marines aren’t typically permitted to wear their uniforms around in public, while Soldiers are. What good is being a poser if you can’t go around posing in public?
Sea Service Ribbon and no vessel or deployment? weird…
Did he got his PSB for being NBC at Redstone?
JMUA, MM, Certificate of commendation, MUA,
All in all, especially for the USMC, this sounds like a really successful and honorable career. Why would he play dress up ?
Jas: I’m pretty sure the “Technical Escort” school at Redstone was NBC-related in 1998 (it is today). I’d guess the PSB was for his duty at 8th and I. Maybe he was assigned White House guard duty for a while, or some similar duties that qualify.
I agree – that’s a damned good career for 8 yrs in the USMC during peacetime. Too bad the a-hole had to go the LSoS route and flush it all.
My question is; how anyone at that gathering didn’t figure out that he was full of shit, since everything on that uniform is Army, including the combat patch?
@4 – O.T., it’s because most people can’t tell and/or don’t know the difference between Army and Marine stuff.
Now I read Scotty´s work completely – and it´s starting to make even less sense to me.
I mean the regular phony here, claims big while having little next to nothing. This man has an almost outstanding career in the USMC, considering his time period of service and even deployed with the CARNG to Iraq in 05 (so there´s a tick for that box).
Why this ridiculous play? A CIB 2nd Award? seriously? He should have known better…
@4/5
He was CARNG, so maybe that´s why he´s wearing ACUs
Jas: that would be my guess. Further, if he’s still serving in the CA ARNG, NPRC wouldn’t necessarily have records of his ARNG service yet. That would explain why the FOIA reply shows no campaign medals or deployments to combat zones.
However, per the info at Scotty’s site, even the CA ARNG calls BS on his BSM and PH claims. This guy appears to be simply lying through his teeth about his military career to “look cool”.
Wonder how “cool” he’ll find being publicly outed as a LSoS?
I was a 1stSgt in Fallujah. The first week, my AA was right next to the Bn aid station. I saw the bodies of young kids, under ponchos with the boots sticking out, at the BAS before they were taken by the graves registration folks. That this piece of shit would try to cover himself with the honor of their sacrifice infuriates me. To the point that I would be in deep legal trouble if he were in front of me.
Tank Boy, sorry for your loss and what you had to witness and see. This POS needs to have a severe beating put upon him.
What trapperfrank said, TankBoy.
You need to vent or just hang out, this isn’t a bad place to do either. Most here are vets, and we listen fairly well.
Dude meets all the requirements for WWP.
I am surprised he is not their current spokesperson.
Turd.
Yep, half of the Guard nationwide are former Marines trying to subvert our young soldiers with their Parris Island ways :). True story :).
You ain’t lyin’, my Platoon Sergeant was one of Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children and was in Desert Storm and I have one other prior Marine in my Platoon and there are at least 2 others in my Company. I also have 2 prior Sailors in my Platoon and I’m prior Air Force so we have pretty much everybody represented except Coast Guard (Sorry, Toasty)
🙂
I posted at the article, calling him out, and emailed the writer. Will be interesting to see how they react.
What a dickbutt piece of shit.
For him to lie about phantom fury just grinds my gears.
For the life of me, I can’t figure out what’s worse–poseurs who have never served, or those who did and should know better, but bullshit anyway.
Fuck it–dickpunch ’em all.
@10 and 11. I’m good. I hate these guys, and although I understand the need to compensate for their own inadequacies, I would still enjoy beating this turd into a bloody pulp with a big stick. The ones like this that had perfectly honorable service are the worst. They understand what they are stealing. The piece of shit internet heroes like 75th rangers guy in the above story are just pathetic. Not that just pathetic isn’t entirely worthy of a world class as whipping.
TankBoy: good to hear you’re doing OK. No intent to imply otherwise.
Still, the offer stands. We all can use somebody to lean on – or talk to – now and again.
For the record, I agree with you. Those that served honorably but feel they have to lie and become a reincarnation of Audie Murphy are the ones that p!ss me off the most.
@17 Glad you’re good. I’m with what you say re world class whipping.
That is all.
Carry on.
Hondo, I know all about this place. First found you guys about four years ago from another site. McSoulPatch was my screensaver at work for over a month. I still bring him up for the occasional memorial day. I run my mouth here occasionally, but most of the times just enjoy watching the idiots flail after they fall into the shark tank. Like Chicken Soup for the lifer pig”s soul.The super thread with the drunken “Seal’s” buddy in Maryland was epic! This whole epidemic is weird; I keep waiting to meet the poser who claims to have been a box kicker that never left CONUS. If it ever happens, I swear I may buy him a beer.
To quote Kathleen Sebelius: “Whatever.”
These posers have serious mental diseases; psycopaths or sociopaths. I always wondered where scummy politicians come from. Same scum pond as these guys.
This asshat is on Facebook. He’s looking for. Donations for some animal charity. Wonder. Where that money is going to go? Sent him a message, not that it will do much good.
CARNG or not, that isn’t anywhere near Fort Riley Kansas
From what I have heard, he has milked thousands of dollars in donations and aid that was to go to true wounded veterans. Somehow while he was working at the VA, this guy was rated at 100% disabled and gets money every month from the VA, while his wife gets caretaker money every month.
I have more time as a Mortarman in by backyard with my homemade patato cannon than this POS has on active duty!
Just to clarify some things here for the ones who are red in the face about the POS in the article. The resources this gentleman abused are frightening, and the list is long. This info is coming from a source close to the story: This whole debacle started last year while at a veteran event. The subject in the article was boasting about his career to the wrong people. Supposedly, There were 2 old school grunts in attendance who were pretty humble, and easy going guys (One who just happened to be one the 1st Silver Star recipients of OEF). When one grunt had enough of the outlandish comments by Cullifer. and after getting nauseous at the sight of Cullifer’s POV (EVERY bumper sticker imaginable, disabled veteran license plates, multiple unit crests, etc.), he casually mentioned to the subject to tone it down a little and to respect the group. When that did not work, the 2 went to town on him in front of his wife and the other vets in attendance. Belittling him and destroying his credibility to the group was their mission I’m guessing. Supposedly, Cullifer got so upset at the comments, it “triggered” his “PTSD” and was so embarrassed that he sent HIS WIFE to the local grocery store to get some sugar… want to guess where that sugar ended up? Apparently, after the event during the trip home, the 2 combat guys broke down on the side of the road on a bridge or something scary. Rumor has it, that while at the repair shop, the mechanic straight up asked these guys if they had “pissed anyone off lately”. YOU GUESSED IT! The shop found evidence that sugar was poured into the gas tank of the POV they drove to the event. The engine was totaled and the truck had to stay for awhile to be repaired. A couple months later Cullifer was in attendance at another event and I guess he ran his mouth AGAIN to an even bigger player (someone who works directly with a certain stolen valor group), but the same guy… Read more »
Wow… 4 years longer then myself, ranked to sergeant… Had good conduct medals, NAMs, and had achieved so much more than myself… And he pissed on it all to do what? Sound good to everyone else? I’m a fucking Terminal Lance, with ONE Combat Action Ribbon, Two Sea Service Ribbons, ONE National Defense Medal, ONE Global War On Terrorism, ONE NATO ISAF Medal, and a Afghanistan Campaign Medal with a star. I don’t exaggerate my rank or achievements. So what if I’m a Lance? I was discharged Honorably and I see no reason to make it sound any better than it actually was. What I did was more than what most people see or do in their entire lives. The same would have been true for this guy… What a fucking shame.
Has the guy been hired at All-Points Logistics yet?
As someone that worked with this guy, he not only ran his mouth to anyone that would listen, but would also get anything and everything for free he could. He would hit up any veteran support group or disabled veteran group to get everything he could from them. The fact that there are service members that were more deserving, experienced real combat, and had real traumatic experiences could be missing out on help because his loud mouth was so greedy is just sickening. So glad he’s been outed.
This seriously has to be the oddest case I’ve heard so far on here. On the other hand, are we certain that he didn’t actually serve in the Army as well? I served 4 uneventful years in the USMC, then years later joined active duty Army, and when I left the Army, I therefore had 2 completely separate and different DD214’s, one for each branch. Is it possible he may have served in the Army after the USMC? I can’t imagine any other reason why he would take to wearing Army uniform…. to this day I identify as a Marine, and have no desire to re-don an Army uniform, but I still have my USMC dress blues immaculate since the day I left. Just very, very weird case.
