Monday morning feel good stories

| November 4, 2013

Chief tango sends us links to two feel good stories today to start the week out. The first is from Toledo, Ohio where a store clerk, December Long, defended his inventory from Christopher Shockley in a brief, but deadly gun fight in the store;

The pair exchanged gunfire about 9:20 p.m. at the Stop & Go at West Sylvania and Rohr Drive in what police called a robbery gone bad. They were alone in the store at 3131 West Sylvania Avenue, near Monroe Street and Secor Road, police said.

Both were taken to Toledo Hospital, where Dr. Cynthia Beisser, a Lucas County deputy coroner, said Shockley was later pronounced dead.

The second story comes from Independence, Missouri where a homeowner defended his family with a shotgun from two home invaders;

One victim retrieved his shotgun and shot one of his attackers in the abdomen. The wounded man was taken into custody at the scene by police and transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

The second man fled the house and has not been identified. He is described as being white, in his thirties, approximately 5’08”-5’10” with a skinny build and was last seen wearing a dark colored, hooded sweatshirt. Both victims sustained minor injuries that were treated at the scene.

I think it’s safe to say that calling the homeowner a “Victim” is inaccurate.

Sounds like one homeowner in the second story decided to take at least PART of Crazy Uncle Joe’s advice.
And I think we can now put to rest the Trayvon “dark hoodie” racist meme.

David

a dark hooded sweatshirt and some suspiciousloy stained trou, more like it.

I object to the phrasing in the fisty of a robbery turned bad – seems to me it turned out pretty well. Best wishes to Long for a speedy recovery.

@3 “trou”? “fisty”? Do I need more caffeine to read this correctly?

David

I took typing lessons from pre-caffeine PH2. I can spell fine, I can’t type worth a damn. And havng done so a lot on a MIL or other manual typewriter, I am real noisy at it.

Trou should be easy (trou for trausers, sub-trou for underwear) – “first” would probably make the sentence a tad more coherent.

@5 Thanks!

Just a quick note:

Have you ever wondered what Chief Tango’s Google News Alert Key Words are?

David

PintoNag – I’m old and use obsolete colloquialisms.
