Ty Carter’s MOH ceremony today
As we reported the other day, SSG Ty Carter is to be awarded the Medal of Honor today in a White House ceremony. Of course, our correspondent, TSO will be on hand to make sure everything goes smoothly. Or something. If you’re chained to your computer, you can watch it live at the White House website if the player below doesn’t work. It starts at 1410 hours (2:10 for those of you who can’t tell time the right way) Eastern.

I really wish that events like this were covered a lot more by the mainstream media. They should interupt anything on to show this ceremony. Everyone in our country should see and hear what a true hero is. These are the kind of people the youth of the nation should be looking up to.
Agree with #1. When a Soldier or Veteran does something wrong, it’s front page, but if it is positive news, nada, zip, zilch.
Sadly, SSG Carter’s ceremony might get about 45 seconds on one or two of the main nightly newscasts, if that. The only place he’d be a leadoff or even significant story would probably be in his hometown.
“The nation that forgets its heroes will itself be forgotten.” -Silent Cal
Like so many others, SSG Carter’s accomplishments are ones worth celebrating.
Our soceity could give shit less overall. I am getting more and more cynical every day.
Now all we need is CPT Swenson to get his CMH and it’ll be all good!
@4 If the people, and particularly the youth, were shown real examples of heroism, what would happen to the adoration given to the current leadership?
With the current political climate in Washington, I’m surprised the medal isn’t being mailed to him.
PintoNag – are you suggesting they interrupt the truly important news that INSYNC sang together after Miley Cyrus showed the world her – well, everything? What misplaced prioriutes you must have…..
@7 😉
Just saw on the 82d facebook page that it is being presented to him by General Odierno and SMA Chandler. Though they called Odierno the Secratary of the Army also in the same paragraph
@6–don’t give them any ideas.
Apparently some rich slut singer that was “twerking” as a music performance needs to be covered more than a war fighter during war.
That was cool!
I think the President did a good job today. I liked him for a couple of minutes.
“I really wish that events like this were covered a lot more by the mainstream media.”
It should be abundantly clear by now… 40+ years after Vietnam… that the left does not give a F**k about the military or veterans… deal with it.
With our current bodaprez doing the presentations, I’m not sure I’d show up for my own ceremony.
I have to agree with Jonn. The president did make an effort to do it right. The one attribute I’ve ever seen in him is that he is personable.
One of the local Colorado Springs TV stations carried the ceremony at noon today.I watched with tears running down my cheeks as the citation was read. My heart goes out to all the men involved in the fight, and to the families who love them.
And I stand corrected, the WAPO had a pretty decent write up front and center on the web: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/obama-awards-medal-of-honor-to-staff-sgt-ty-carter-for-heroism-in-afghanistan/2013/08/26/ec4daf58-0e66-11e3-8cdd-bcdc09410972_story.html?hpid=z1
Both CNN and Fox News broadcast the entire event, LIVE.
But, did anyone notice the UNHAPPY look on Joe Biden’s face?
I wonder why?
As for Barry Soetoro (or whoever he is), he does conduct a nice ceremony, saying nice words.
But, I doubt he actually has any power or influence in the White House.
I suspect he is merely a figurehead puppet for an unseen government secretly manipulating him and controlling him.
Accurate or not, I read somewhere that Valerie Jarret actually runs things in the White House.
At my own personal web site, “OUR ETERNAL STRUGGLE” (to access it, just click on my name), I have embedded, near the bottom of the page, the official United States Army slide show, which is automatically updated with fresh photographs.
The latest photograph is of Staff Sergeant Ty Carter being awarded the Medal of Honor.
Among the awards displayed on his dress blue uniform is a qualification badge that I’ve never seen.
It’s been many years since I was in the Army, so I have no idea what that badge is, because since I’ve been out, EVERYTHING changed.
Can one of you identify it?
In appearance, it’s similar to a weapons qualification badge and/or a vehicle operator qualification badge.
I’m not absolutely positive, but it appears that Staff Sergeant Ty Carter is wearing the United States Army Special Operations Diver Badge, or the United States Army Special Operations Diving Supervisor Badge.
Here is the URL where I found it:

Obviously, this didn’t exist when I was in the United States Army, so it’s something totally brand new (and really neat looking).
