No, Bryan Austin DeMeza is NOT a SEAL (Updated to a Phony)
PSC sent us a link to this blog posting at Pen N Sword;
I don’t know how they got the idea that he was a SEAL, because I can’t find any news source on the internet that says he’s a SEAL, and neither can Don Shipley find him in the SEAL database. But the shitbag shook his 19 day old stepson to death back in December according to WAFF;
According to Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Bryan Austin DeMeza, 21, of Munford, found his newborn stepson, Zayne Hunter, unresponsive after shaking him earlier in the evening.
DeMeza admitted to shaking Zayne “eight to ten times in a fast motion forward to backward and falling on the infant twice”.
I don’t know if DeMeza was even in the Navy, I guess he got out late last year if he was and you Navy guys might find him in the Navy thing you have for that, but it’s very irresponsible of anyone, blog or otherwise to start calling everyone who wears a tank top and RayBans a Navy SEAL. I’m not calling him a phony, because I don’t know where anyone got the idea, but he is being charged with 1st degree murder.
OK, he’s a phony, but anyone who takes someone’s word on their Facebook profile is a moron.
And the dumbass got married in camouflage, FFS.

VOV: it would be best for DeMeza if he indeed suffers in this life – that implies the possibility of contrition and forgiveness.
Barring that, I’m guessing he certainly will suffer after meeting Satan.
Oh, he’ll suffer, one way or the other. The infant had a series of injuries that appear to have been from physical abuse. I won’t speculate on who gave them to him, but in less than 3 weeks of life, he had more injuries than any of us had by the time we were 6 years old.
I do not understand the lack of scruples in what I can only term ‘pseudo-journalism’. All of that stuff, from daily papers to weekly and monthly publications, has devolved to the level of the tabloids and paparazzi. The ‘reporters’ don’t want to take the time to get their facts straight and write an accurate report on what happened, because they may not be able to embellish it enough to attract the attention they seek.
And that’s the key to it: Andy Warhol’s offhand remark “in the future, everyone will be famous for about 15 minutes” has come home to roost.
I don’t know that this asshole is capable of receiving enough suffering to account for his crime in this life.
But I’d sure as hell like to get a shot at making it happen.
After the sheer horrific fact of the infanticide, what bothers me most about this article is two things.
First, the absolute irrelevance of DeMeza’s claims of military service to the crime. The fact that he may or may not be a veteran is only significant if DeMeza can document he was (1) adversely affected by military service, and (2) that adverse affect directly contributed to his behavior when he killed the infant. (Personally, I believe demonstrating this to be impossible; for some crimes, there is IMO no possible excuse.) Otherwise, his possible military background is completely irrelevant. Indeed, the fact that he is alleged to have left the service at 21 months rather strongly implies that he was a low-life from day one, the military was unable to straighten him out, and finally gave him the boot.
Second, the sheer arrogant gall of the original story’s author to put such irrelevant information in the article’s title – followed up by the publisher “doubling down on teh stoopid” by (1) failing to recognize that fact, and (2) attempting to sidestep the issue by reflecting blame (“how dare you be upset”).
Let me spell it out for them. They (original author and publisher) didn’t do their job (basic fact checking) before publication. They included irrelevant points in the article’s headline that were derogatory towards the military in general, and SEALs in particular – perhaps maliciously, perhaps out of ignorance. They failed to realize any this prior to publication. When the above was brought to their attention, they attempted to redirect blame to the people they’d offended (veterans) by saying, in effect, “That’s unimportant; shut up about that and concentrate on the fact that a child was murdered”.
Screw them both. They’re freaking idiots.
Nik: on a visceral level, I agree. I could only forgive him post-execution – if then.
However, the Deity reputedly has an infinite capacity for both mercy and forgiveness. True contrition and sufficient suffering might allow the Deity to extend mercy and forgiveness to his soul.
Hondo, you are better than I, for I have no sympathy for these monsters. I have worked for the Sheriff’s Dept in NE Kansas for almost three years and just in that time I could produce 12-15 cases of the most heinous crimes against children, both physical and carnal, that a person can imagine.
I sincerely believe, and this may be an environmental bias, that there is no rehabilitation for these monsters.
Here’s what I posted on their “felonious imposter” report where this Mike Dunavant doesn’t understand why veterans are so upset about the poser claims and not a dead baby (in his mind only): Mike, perhaps we in the veteran community are hoping that journalists will take an extra moment to verify claims of veteran status as a well known problem in this nation is military posers. Any special forces claims especially so as special forces are minute percentage of the military community. There is not a single veteran who is not horrified by the death of a child at the hands of a 21 year old lunatic, however too many journalists are quick to jump on the crazed ex-veteran meme and run with it when the statistical evidence indicates that veterans are far less likely to be involved with any sort of violent crime than the general civilian population of non-veterans. That’s what is so disheartening, it’s that the very people who have been claiming about how much they support the troops, how much they care about the troops are the first to believe the worst about the troops when the actual evidence does not support such a belief. Perhaps you served, perhaps you did not but please understand for many of us we served honorably and have managed to successfully transition from a military service to civilian career that contributes to society and commits less crime than our non-serving neighbors. Moving forward perhaps you and your staff will consider that before you accept that someone claiming service is telling the truth and take a moment to verify their claim just as you would any other piece of evidence you intend to publish. Regarding sealed records of SEALS (no pun intended) there is no such thing as a record being sealed to indicate someone had passed the training and been assigned to serve with a SEAL team, they might perform classified missions, but the fact of being a SEAL is in and of itself not classified. A simple FOIA request will resolve all of that for your staff in the… Read more »
Hondo, journalism is no longer aimed at reporting the news.
Its only aim is to find the most sensational, shock-level, scumbag story available so that the reporter has one-upped all the competition.
Of course they take offense when someone points out the error of their ways. They don’t to be told they made a massive error, because the massive error is what got the attention in the first place.
Newspapers are no longer news-worthy, they are tabloids and scandal rags.
If you can catch Linsay Lohan falling down drunk right out of rehab, it’s a story.
Five women having healthy babies and going home to family celebrations is boring.
I, for the life of me, cannot understand why the author of the original news article is defending their own stupidity of not doing the checks of basic journalism, as if the MSM wonders why their influence has diminished over the last decade.
Fuckin’ turd.
@55 If the Deity is where this shitbag will find mercy, then perhaps he needs to be sent there for trial.
Well said, VOV. Thank you for doing that on our behalf.
@58.
I agree.
57,
Mike Dunavant is the name of the DA prosecuting the case. The author of the shitty article doesn’t have his/her name attached to it. Wonder why that is?
It looks like this particular “news” blog is about to experience the “Streisand Effect” first-hand.
