Dennis “Denny” Enyeart; Phony Vietnam SEAL in WA
Mary sends us the story of Denny Enyeart, who happens to be from the same town as Bob “Spooky 8” King, Wenatchee, Washington. His clearly gullible local bird cage liner writes about him;
Denny has walked a long and complicated road since serving his four tours as a Navy SEAL during the Vietnam War.
Adjusting to life back in the states after eight years of combat in a foreign jungle was difficult enough, but the challenges were heightened by the poor treatment returning veterans received from many of their countrymen after the unpopular war ended.
“It was hard getting back on my feet in civilian life,” said Denny, who did not want to use his last name.
From another local rag, just the other day;
Back in the 1960s, the US Navy began one of its premiere special ops programs, the Navy Seals.
The Navy was looking for a unique combination of skills and personality to make up those first Seal Teams. The Vietnam War was about to begin, unconventional warfare was the name of the game, and the now 67-year-old Denny Enyeart fit the bill.
“I was a young man when I became a Seal. I was 19-years-old,” said Enyeart.
Enyeart who was a 1st Class Petty Officer was a member of the second group of Navy Seals this country had ever trained, and that was 1961. “In my time as a Seal we were trained specifically just to kill – that was the job,” said Enyeart.
For generations, his family had served in the military. Enyeart was raised to do the same, but also said Seals had a unique mind set. “War was glorious. You gotta be a soldier to be a hero and the only way you can do that is to get into a battle and win. And that was our collective attitude.”
[…]
Enyeart’s records are sealed, to this day. As for the war parapharnelia… the medals, dog tags, uniforms and photographs… they no longer exist because of his homeless status for mulitple years.
Yeah, if by SEAL you mean firefighter and if by “foreign jungle” you mean “never left the deck of his ship” you’d be totally correct, according to his military records;
It looks like, from his records he was in the waters off of the coast of Vietnam, since he has the two medals for service there, but I can’t imagine a fireman leaving the ship to patrol the “foreign jungles”. I wonder how Denny feels about telling his story while he’s in a house built for homeless veterans named after two actual Vietnam combat veterans who were killed in action. Even a little bit of shame, there, fella? The first article is from December, 2011, and the second was published last week.

This almost makes John “Jungle Sroll w/ Camerman” Kerry look like the real deal. Okay, not really, but you get the point.
The reporters and editors need to be keel-hauled,
4 two year tours in Vietnam? ,,, really?
19 year old 1st class Petty Officer? Not in anyone’s navy.
Although he attended a fire-fighting school, I’m not certain he actually served as a “fireman” aboard ship. Every sailor attends a firefighting school, as everyone needs to be able to use the equipment when things go bad. Heck, you get a basic exposure to all of that in Boot Camp.
As a “Seaman” he’d be an E-3, and likely just assigned to general duties aboard whatever ship he was assigned to, although because of that month-long school he’d also be assigned to a specific damage control party for his General Quarters station.
But as to SEAL……. nope. Not a chance. Someone need to ask that rag how much he paid them to write his story.
I am sending an e-mail to the “reporter” (I use that term loosely) with a link to here.
Every day I see at least 3 people outed as fakes. I have no Military service but I have a lot of family members in the service and this shit drives me insane. I just don’t see how you guys can deal with this.
6 years, 2 of them active duty, and the rest as a weekend warrior.
Yes, he did a whole lot more than the guys who were ashore over there. NOT.
I think the donut dollies had more time on the ground over there than he did.
When I think about the guys who I knew WERE over there, and who made a relatively smooth adjustment to returning to civilian life – got jobs, went to school, started businesses, whatever — this kind of thing gets my goat.
FYI, not all Vietnam incountry vets became drug addicts or alcoholics or homeless. Most of them have led useful, productive lives.
did yall not read the part that his records are still sealed? he was super secret squirrel type and the records yall have are the fakes to keep everyone from knowing his super secret squirrel past. why do yall have to be so skeptical? i read that his records were sealed to this day on the internet and you cant put anything on the internet that isnt true.
For the record, Kennewick is a fur piece down the trail from Wenatchee. His records have remained sealed as a matter of fact because he left them in a safe deposit box and forgot which bank that it is in. *cackle*
Yeah, two years as a deck ape, and never even struck for a rate, else he would have had that on his Page 5; i.e., BMSN, etc.
You know this guy wasn’t missed very much when he left his command.
How can you spend six years without even trying to get some kind of career training, not even as a boatswain’s mate?
Yup, the classic “Vietnam Vet” stereotypes: PTSD, drug abuse, homelessness, the only thing missing was a Rambo-esgue rage spree against “The Man!” Yet this shitbird was an un-rated deck-scrubber who never set a foot “in-country”. Hey, but what does a “Journalist” care abut any of that “fact-checking” shit anyway…
An old, stale turd.
I do like the sunflowers, though.
In all fairness to my Navy brethren, there were many who never set foot on dry ground in Viet Nam but still managed to get shot at, wounded, burned, and otherwise battle weary. Ships were lost in combat and those aboard definitely were in combat. No, they were not in the same conditions as the Army guys who were in the jungles for months on end, but being shelled on board a ship is rather different from sitting at a desk stateside somewhere in any branch of service.
We need to know where this clown was assigned to determine if he actually saw anything remotely scary. Might have. What we know for sure is that he was never a SEAL and has earned our scorn by claiming to have been.
So, he claims he was 19 in 1961, but he’s 67 in 2013? Well, that’s amazing, because according to my Excel-Fu – he’s either 71 now, or 15 in 1961.
Perhaps, I’m just completely off the mark and SEALS age slower? I do realize Don Shipley has the hair of a teenager…
San Francisco, then one year in an amphibious group, then back to San Francisco.
I’d say he was mostly a goldbricker, hanging out and shooting the breeze while other people worked. My guess is that all he did was chip paint and run the buffer, if that.
There are people who drift through life with nothing to show for it. Unless they actually worked at something, they’re usually called bums.
@13- The gullible reporters also seem to share a deficiency in math skills.
When the Navy saw his talent at balancing a beach ball on his nose, of COURSE they waived the age rules and snapped him up to be a seal at age 15.
This guy claimed to be a PO1 at 19? That’s cute. While I did know of a couple of nukes who made PO1 when they were 22-23, there’s no way that anyone could enlist at 17 and make PO1 in less than two years.
And newsies wonder why we don’t give them any respect.
This is Phildo’s idol.
This guy is legit.
Clear that he was one of the first.
SEAL Teams were designated and established in 1962. 50 year celebrations were last year.
Therefore, if he was a SEAL in 1961 … Then he was the first and you should cut some slack.
This guy has got to be legit… I’ve heard of him before… SEAL’s use to call him “Rice Paddy Daddy”. Did recon missions with Kerry up and down the Mekong all of the time.
Rumor has it that they dropped his ass into Hanoi so he could get a pair of Ho Chi Minh sandals for some Admiral in Subic Bay. He took them out of Uncle Ho’s room at 0200 – while Ho was asleep!!! Took a trike out to the pick up point and was brought back in helo…
He took Halo lessons from a special operator with the initials DW and ran with a group called “Gundogs”.
Also invented the spork and baby wipes while in the middle of the jungle surrounded by 15,000 VC…
#22: The intel I got was that they were not local force VC, but the entire 324B NVA Division transferred down from the A Shau Valley to handle his singular SEAL ass…
He did all that? I heard he was Agent Orange or something.
Ex-PH2: I’m thinking more like Agent Chartreuse or Agent Lavender . . .
If my reading is correct SEALS rotated in and out of Viet Nam after short duration stays. Three or months on average. Their may have been longer stays but the teams came and went as units. The only reference for this is a masters thesis written by a SEAL LT. published as a book. Perhaps someone more familiar with that conflict give more definitive information on tour lengths for team members. These fakers really piss me off, almost as much as reporters who have forgotten the art of fact checking.
I was raised to respect my elders, but fuck this guy.
Look at it this way:
This guy appears to have killed the same number of people and has the same number of days in combat as Dave Grossman who teaches killing and combat to cops. My first guess would be ZERO.
This guy just needs to take “fake it until you make it” a bit more to heart and start teaching combat seminars..to school resource officers and cops. They seem to believe to believe anything that’s told with enough gusto.
i just got my navy SEAL costume from Ranger Up, this authorizes me to tell vietnam stories right? i mean i was only born about 20 years after it ended
eh 12 years, close enough
@29. If Enyeart can fudge numbers, so can you. No worries, bro.
One other observation regarding the LEGITIMIZATIONISMIST of the Navy SEAL:
Nothing say LEGIT like lovingly growing sunflowers and attempting to smile through a face with sunken bone mass and reciding jaw from drinking by yourself all day long!
What is it with Wenatchee? Aside from Spooky 8, it’s also the hometown of George “I Fought On Every Island In The Pacific” Lauve.

@32.
Seems we have inadvertently stumbled into a “poser” Outer Limits.
Rat b4st4rd….”to this day his records remain sealed”, why does every yahoo reporter buy that sealed record horsesh1t?
Why are all of these reporters and their staff so f#cking lazy they can’t pick up a phone and confirm what might or might not be sealed so they stop falling for this bullsh1t?
[…] Enyeart, who we discussed the other day, was confronted by the reporter with your charges that he isn’t a Navy […]
@13 Shipley’s hair is epic. I can’t wait for his video calling this dude out. Shipley videos always brighten my day!
This guy is not a phoney SEAL. He is just as much of a SEAL as Jesse Ventura is. Get Jesse Ventura’s records and it will say he was an SK Store Keeper. SEALs didn’t receive the SO rating up until a couple years ago. A good friend of mine was a BU2 Builder Second Class and he bacame a SEAL. He was still a BU2 just had the SEAL designation.
COMBATCB: wouldn’t his records reflect attending BUD/S if he were ever a SEAL? This guy’s records don’t seem to say anything about attending BUD/S.
@37–to become a SEAL back in the day, one had to be a striker in a SEAL “source rating”, of which BU was NOT, was NEVER a source rating. Some of the source ratings WERE:
AG, AO, AW, AB, BM, BT, CT, EM, ET, EN, GM, HM, HT, IS, IC, MR, MM, MN, OS, OT, OTA, OTM, PH, PN, PR, QM, RM, SM, STG, TM, and YN.
Nope, don’t see any Seabee ratings in there, hoss. And you HAD to either have gone to the appropriate “A” school or be a designated striker, or BUD/S was a no-go.
Nevermind the fact BUD/S was never in his records. Ever. At least with Janos, he (and his brother) attended BUD/S, and while Janos was UDT versus SEAL, a lot of SEALs (such as Senior Chief Shipley) have no real issue with the differentiation between SEAL/UDT.
PH was a source rating?
Damn! I KNEW I should have taken that re-up offer and applied for BUD/S.
@37 Don’t be an ignorant troll, even if you heard your cousin’s dog’s monkey’s neighbor’s pet pubic crab was a helicopter winshield wiper repairman and was a SEAL, this guy has no record of going to BUDS. Hence he is a poser.
The sunflowers are cool.
That’s about it.
I’m from Kennewick. If I see this guy around, I’ll happily wall-to-wall counsel him.
@43, you do that, and your next few shots and beers will be on me as soon as we meet up face to face!! Hell, I’ll start it off someplace that offers a good “Burger and a Beer” deal on my dime!!
@44 – Deal. Though, to be fair, I’d do it for free.
Man, if I’d have known about TAH a year ago, I’d have another poser from here in town to put up on here, too. Some fatass who was claiming he was chosen for the Scout-Sniper program due to his “dog-like hearing.” That same guy claimed Marines are trained to use swords in hand-to-hand combat. I honestly didn’t know whether I should laugh or cry at the people who were believing his line of crap hook, line, and sinker. Listening to him would make you think we were ninjas.
Actually, I’d have two, counting the moron who tried to tell me his boot camp platoon was being tested for some Secret Squirrel unit. He “made it to the end”, then opted out at the last minute. This “training” included such wonderful things as being tazed.
Denny lived at the Hospitality House (homeless shelter) prior to moving to the Tri-Cities. He conveyed the same untrue stories about his military service while living there. Many unsuspecting people believed him like this naive news reporter. If anyone questioned the validity of Denny’s military service, he would accuse them of being non-compassionte. Denny disgraces the men and women who have and do serve our country by lying about his military service.
