Westboro monkeys to protest soldier’s funeral in Memphis

| August 9, 2013

Team Sergeant from Professional Soldier wrote to tell us about Westboro Baptist Church’s plans to protest at the funeral of Staff Sergeant Stephen M. New who was killed recently in Afghanistan, so JD wants everyone who is available in Memphis area to help out. The Patriot Guard Riders are already on this, but numbers are important.

One bolt of lightening. Just one. I’ve never prayed for a miracle before, but I would consider that to be a personal favor, if it was granted.

I want TOASTED shitbags.

Ex-PH2

OH, I don’t wish them any harm. But I do wish a great deal of physical discomfort on them, and a thick crowd of counter-protestors standing in their way.

B Woodman

Ex-PH2,
Ditto. I hope there’s enough counter protestors to give them a good stare down. And if it escalates, a good beat down. Make them think twice (or more – that is, if they’re able to think at all) before pulling their next protest stunt.

From “Fiddler On The Roof”, as the old rabbi said in a prayer for the czar, “May the Good Lord bless and keep the czar – far away from us.”
So mote it be for the WBC at soldiers funerals.

Ex-PH2

BWoodman, I concur. In fact, I will invoke Bast-et, the cat-headed warrior goddess, and Anubis, the guardian of the Dead, to act on behalf of the protectors of the dead.

Works for me.

DaveO

WBC enjoys the strife and wants counter-protests. Their reason for ginning up this much grief is that WBC then sues whomever they can (parents of the dead, community, counter-protestors) for MILLIONS.

The protests are SCOTUS-approved WBC fund-raisers. The people who make up WBC couldn’t give a rat’s ass about whomever or whatever they protest. They are Democrats.

I’m still waiting to hear word of Fred Phelp’s passing so I can be at the head of the pack going to piss on his grave. NHSparky should have the beer truck there, too. 😉

Were any of you guys at the Viet Nam Memorial 25th anniversary ceremonies?

I marched with the 1st Signal Brigade, wearing my Scottish kilt.

As we marched onto Constitution Avenue, there was Westboro Baptist Church hollering at us, but we were too busy marching to make any response.

Here’s the URL for a slide show of the event:

I’m sorry, but I didn’t get any pictures of the Westboro Baptist Church yelling at us as we marched along.

But, marching down Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C. is really something to remember!

Ex-PH2

@5 – You should quite exaggerating. WBC has not sued anyone yet. They were sued by the father of a soldier at whose funeral they created a disturbance, and unfortunately, SCOTUS determined it was free speech. The father of the deceased had to pay WBC’s legal fees.

Here’s something from Ft. Stewart:

http://fortstewart.patch.com/groups/around-town/p/things-to-remember-about-westboro-baptist-church-protests

And bear in mind, just because WBC threatens to protest, they frequently don’t show up.

OWB

Small towns across the country have found all sorts of imaginative ways to neutralize any effect WBC might have at a funeral. Nothing quite as beautiful as a thousand flags waving with hundreds of veterans protecting the families of our fallen warriors.

There is a special place reserved for these WBC fools. Silly attention whores that they are.

JP

@5: And David Duke is a Republican.

Green Thumb

On it.

And I know Memphis.

Lando

@8: They HAVE sued, and won. They sued Topeka Several times in the 90’s winning something over $100,000. They have also sued other cities such as Bellevue (Winning almost $20,000) and on and on.

B Woodman

While the WBC is gathered and protesting, someone else should go along their line of cars and puncture tires (plural) of each verified WBC car, weather it be personal or rental. Of course, like all good military covert operations, one should be careful to not wear identifying clothing, (at best) not be seen, (at worst) not be caught.
‘Nuff said.

And Ex-PH2, you’ll have to teach me more about Bast-et. I have 5 (or is it six? They never stay still long enough to get an accurate nose count) cats already. I wonder if I could use them in worship (NO, not sacrifice!).

jonp

Ok, anyone within reach..let’s strap it on and meet these freaks.

Ex-PH2

BWoodman, Bast-et was the daughter of Ra, the sun god, and was a warrior goddess, as was her sister Sekhmet.

She is portrayed as a woman with the head of a cat in Egyptian relief sculptures, and I think she’s the reason Egypt is the source of the domesticated cat. They worshipped cats, probably because when Egypt grew into a center of civilization, rats moved in to take advantage of the supplies of grain and other foods, and the wild African cat, which looks like a common house cat, followed the rats.

Grain draws rats. Rats draw cats. Cats kill rats. Grain is saved. Cats must, therefore, be part of the roster of deities.

There are lots of people who include their pets/cats in spiritual matters. St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals. I see including them in worship as a positive thing, but keep them away from candle flames.

You may find that they like radish leaves if the leaves are new. Mine do and a packet of seeds is very low in cost. They’ll grow in a pot.

I have two. I used to have 6, but three passed of age-related disorders and one died too young from the long-term effects of a disease she had at an early age when a hoarder had her. So now I have two and that’s enough. Now that I know how to put my camera on video mode, I am waiting for the chance to get Mikey doing the cheetah stud dance, which is very funny.

jonp

btw: the most bizarre story surfaced the other week about his bunch of asshats.
http://www.opposingviews.com/i/religion/satanists-perform-pink-mass-ritual-turn-westboro-baptist-church-founder-s-dead-mom-gay
I want to say good for you but I laughed and then could not figure out who to root for. No-one is good in this story.

RunPatRun

Betting they don’t show up. I hope a LOT of people attend to pay their respect for Staff Sergeant Stephen M. New. RIP

Re: lawsuits.
There’s a lot of interesting stuff in that timeline, so I’ll sum it up. Firstly, Phelps has been devoted to filing frivolous lawsuits for longer than he has been devoted to gay-bashing. Apparently that really began in earnest in the early 90s, well after he had sued President Reagan for appointing an ambassador to Vatican City, and Washburn University for reverse discrimination for not admitting his children….All in all, it seems that the Phelpses use the courts more as a weapon than a means of earning a living–although I frankly have no idea how they can support themselves.

Side note: I’m pretty sure at least three of them work for the State of KS.

Ex-PH2

And I was thinking that it would be very nice, if the WBC slime did show up at this funeral, if a large cougar walked quietly between the WBCslime and the funeral and just stopped and stared at them.

I’ve seen stranger things happen.

@12, they have sued cities, not individuals, and the amounts they received were not millions, but a few thousands, as you confirmed.

Ex-PH2

Jonp, that’s too funny for words!

Lando

I just named a few I could remember off the top of my head. They have filed hundreds, if not thousands of law suits against anyone and anything they would find. They lose the majority, but what they win is more than enough to continue to fund their tirades against intelligence.

Yes, as of a year or so ago, I think 3 or 4 of them worked for the state, one in charge of parole I think.

OWB

Pretty much all of them are lawyers, or at least attended law school. Yes, lawsuits are a way of life for them.

A Proud Infidel

What happened to them in Mississippi is something that should be repeated. I can’t remember the name of the town, but it went like this: Come time for them to leave and go screech at the funeral, they discovered that EVERY vehicle at their motel with Kansas plates was blocked in. The local Police were called, who assured them that a Wrecker Service was called, and they’d be there when they could. A few of those inbreds had left earlier, but they were detained by the local P.D. as possible suspects in a recent crime. After the funeral was over, the wreckers showed up at the motel, but alas, the offending vehicles were gone, and the local P.D. by then had decided that the WBC inbreds they had detained weren’t who they were looking for, so they were released! I’d love to meet everyone who had a part in that all at once, the first keg of beer would be on me!!

B Woodman

Ex-PH2
How do I “worship” (Egyptian style?) my cats more then I already do (clean cat box, fill cat food, scratch and pet, etc). They already own the house, and just allow us to live in it so we can support and take care of them.

The WBC asshats were going to picket a soldiers funeral in Port Arther, TX. The City of P.A. not wanting to encroach on WBC’s right to free speech granted them a permit and Jefferson County issued a special permit that relocated them several miles away from the funeral…where they were able to safely demonstrate, yell and prance around all they wanted out of view of anybody except four very courageous deputies, two county constables and DPS troopers securing the entrance for their safety. After the funeral service was over, they were “guided” northward toward their home destination at least until they were well out of S/E Texas. lol.

Ex-PH2

BWoodman, (for a giggle) every time you feed them, ask Bast-et to tell them to let you all have some space, too, because you paid for the place!

Also, there’s a pet repellent that you can spray on furniture that might work.

Mostly, just claim your space and tell them “You don’t have a job. I do. I paid for that – whatever – so move it, toots.” And add the slow blink, of course.

B Woodman

Hmmm. Have to look into that furniture spray. . . .

Hondo

B Woodman: spouse and I have. Most don’t seem to work very well, if at all.

However, reportedly the herb rue – when crushed – is somewhat effective. Haven’t tried that one yet, so can’t say for sure.

Ex-PH2

There’s something called ‘Bitter End’, a pump spray for computer cords and electric wires, that I got at one of the electronic outlets. It doesn’t have much of a smell but it repels them. Works on the furniture, too. Sorry but I can’t remember exactly where I got it.

Kinda old ET1

The funeral is being held about 5 miles from my apartment. Thanks for the link to PGR. I think I know how I’m spending my afternoon now.

Update from Memphis:

Overcast and some sprinkles.
It’s about an hour before the funeral service. About 250 to 300 people are lining the street front of the church. Plenty of flags, a few service members in uniform.
The best news is I see no sign of the wbc asswipes.

streetsweeper

Thanks for the update, ET!. Maybe a Tennessee State Trooper intercepted ’em at the state, searching for moonshine or something…lol.

Bartlett pd refused their permit to protest

OWB

They announce many more planned appearances than they could possibly attend. It’s just one of many tactics that they use. Kinda like every other garden variety terrorist.

DaveO

#8 and #10: you can google “Westboro Baptist Church lawsuit money” and find a little over 3 millions hits. And yes, Phelps and his family are registered Democrats. The Prognazis tried to tie WBC to the TEA Party and social conservatives.

#10 David Duke switched to the GOP in order to run as a candidate for POTUS in 1992. Before that, he was a candidate for POTUS in 1988 as a Democrat, and ran for numerous political offices as a Demcrat beginning in 1975. The national and Louisiana state GOP repudiated Duke repeatedly. As a member of the KKK, Duke worked as a Dem activist, inciting racial division and hatred, much like Obama does today.

saminkansas

they hardly ever show up anymore. the publicity they get from announcing they will protest is all they accomplish these days. this link shows them being run out of town on two flat tires, that the locals refused to repair. http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/westboro-church-gets-tires-slashed-locals-refuse

These bastards showed up at a soldier’s funeral in Pine Bluff, Arkansas a few years ago. I will wager good money they will not want to return. The police chief told us where they would be away from the church and his deputy was also a retired Army CWO. Suffice to say they got the message of not being welcome in Pine Bluff but the chief did stop us from burning their van. He said we would have to feed them if they didn’t have a way home.

A Proud Infidel: At the funeral of SSG Jason Rogers, USMC in Brandon, Mississippi.

“Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out. A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.” – See more at: http://thehayride.com/2011/04/westboro-baptist-church-goes-to-mississippi-and-loses/#sthash.ZErKrxer.dpuf

I bet we can all guess who will be changing Churches soon. Paul (the dickless wonder) and his sidekick The Witless one!
