Christopher Swindell; you’re surrounded

| June 2, 2013

Dan sends us a link to the West Virginia Gazette which published an opinion piece by Christopher Swindell, a journalism professor at Marshall University who lives in Charleston, West Virginia who must feel somewhat out of place. He thinks that NRA members should be executed. No, really, that’s what he says;

Here it is. The NRA advocates armed rebellion against the duly elected government of the United States of America. That’s treason, and it’s worthy of the firing squad. The B.S. needs a serious gut check. We are not a tin pot banana republic where machine gun toting rebel groups storm the palace and depose the dictator.

We put the president in the White House. To support the new NRA president’s agenda of arming the populace for confrontation with the government is bloody treason.

Actually, Christopher Swindell, supporting the President in most of the legislation that he’s presented is treasonous. How many times have liberals, especially in the last six months, recommended that we change certain aspects of the Constitution and it’s attending amendments in order to accommodate this president’s wishes? I’d call that treason.

Normally, I am a peaceable man, but in this case, I am willing to answer the call to defend the country. From them.

To turn the song lyric they so love to quote back on them, “We’ll put a boot in your —, it’s the American way.”

Except it won’t be a boot. It’ll be an M1A Abrams tank, supported by an F22 Raptor squadron with Hellfire missiles. Try treason on for size. See how that suits. And their assault arsenal and RPGs won’t do them any good.

So, to return to reality, all of us. Let’s make common sense gun safety a deciding issue for 2014 and beyond.

Wait, wait, wait, you little shit. None of us have RPGs, where you got that idea is beyond me, unless you’re one of the three people left in the country who think that the LAPD made the world safer by taking those empty fiberglass tubes off the streets at their gun buy back.

And so by “common sense gun safety” you mean kill all of the NRA members with guns, tanks and bombs? Seriously? Yeah, that’s peaceable, you ignorant fucknut. If that’s the world you want to live in, you should leave West Virginia post haste and move under the protective umbrella of Nanny Bloomberg and the legacy Governor of New York. I’m sure the tanks & bombs thing will be real popular with your new neighbors and probably already in the planning stages there.

Get rid of guns! ….with guns….

Frank G

the comments section at the link is at 900+ comments. He tried defending himself, but made it worse. An absolute spittle-spraying commutard. As a “journalism” professor who can spell, diagram a sentence, or make a logical argument, he should be fired

Flagwaver

Um… since when does a fighter jet equip hellfire missiles? I thought those were primarily low-velocity attack ordnance (i.e. drone and helicopter).

As for treason, why doesn’t he look at the current powers that be. Last time I checked, they were elected to serve and not to rule.

Frank G

“can’t” spell.

Doh!
More coffee, please

Rikkisan

Another liberal academic douche out of touch with reality. The toad is a laughingstock.

A_Proud_Infidel

I find it interesting that snot-drooling lefties such as Christopher Swindell want others to do all of the dirty work while they guzzle their Kool-Aid and rant. He seems about as intelligent and coherent as Phillip Dale Monkress and Paul Wickre (*WHEEEEEEE!*, GOOGLE HIT!!)

68W58

Bear in mind that this is a University professor. When we wonder how the left has been able to advance its wretched agenda remember that people like this shape impressionable young minds.

pete

and these are the same professors who educate/indoctrinate our friggin kids!

Jumpmaster

But we already have a “a tin pot banana republic”, courtesy of Barack Hussein Obama II. He uses the government to harass and control his enemies and now has his “well-armed civilian defense force”, the DHS. Why does the DHS need thousands of armored vehicles, full-automatic assault rifles and billions of rounds of ammo to use in the United States? Swindell is a rabid liberal with a big mouth.

Grimmy

Well, and there it is. A nice illustration on just how and why modern “journalism” is loaded with thumb suckers, snot gobblers, drooling idiots and rabid intellectually inbred degenerates.

People just like this Swindell douchebag are the “gate keepers” that decide who goes into the ranks of our supposed “free press”.

ConcernedCitizen

Yeah, he made it worse for himself in the comments, and apparently a couple have even written letters to the president of the university.

SteveS

Marshall University should be ashamed of itself, if they keep this douchenozzle on staff. What a hate monger.
Not to mention fuckwit: Anyone ever heard of a Hellfire-capable Raptor?
He also fails to note the heavy preponderance of 2d Amendment and NRA supporters who lavishly adorn the ranks of tank crewmen, infantry platoons, and anyone wearing the uniform.
He is getting righteously pummeled in the Comments section of the paper.

Gravel

The thing is the NRA isn’t supporting or advocating the actual overthrow of our current government, which the author wishes everyone to believe.

The NRA actually advocates your right to own and bear arms per the Bill of Rights. The original reason this amendment was added to the Bill of Rights was so that the people could rise against a tyrannical government if the need should EVER arise.

There is a huge difference between what the author is claiming and what is actual reality.

What a fucknut.

AW1 Tim

The leftist snot-bag fails to grasp the simple fact that the military swears it’s allegiance to the Constitution, and NOT to any president.

They will obey the legal orders of the Commander-in-Chief, but they will NOT enforce, in any manner, his political ideology or policies.

Any attempt to use the Armed Forces of these United States against it’s citizens would be met by the military saying “no can do”.

And yeah……. Marshall needs to fire this leftist snot-bag soonest.

pete

i just read the comments on that article and am,,,roflmao!
that asshat walked into a wall

GuinnessForStrength

@3,12, you are correct. Hellfire’s were originally designed for use in attack helicopters and have been adopted for use on many of today’s UAV airframes due to the light weight and accuracy they offer. That’s not to say they couldn’t be fitted onto an F-22, but there are much better options for employment by that airframe.

Much like the rest of the gun-grabbers, Swindell spends little time actually researching what he writes about and more time pointing fingers without factual support. Or actual thought.

TMB

We’re not a banana republic dictatorship, but people advocating for their Constitutional rights should be summarily executed with the tools of a dictatorship. Brilliant.

COB6

A quick bit of advice to Mr. Swindell; and since he probably googles his name everyday odds are he will see this.

Credibility is the stock and trade of a journalist. You’ve just damaged yours but given the low stock of journalism these days you can recover. The solution is simple; write only about things you know something about. Otherwise you just demonstrate that you are a hyperbolic Nancy (see your most recent screed).

So, to prevent this in the future here are some subjects you should avoid at all costs:
Driving any vehicle that is four wheel drive
Backing up a trailer or boat
Anything with the term “end of line bowline”
Powertools
Charcoal grill
Heterosexuality
and especially GUNS!

Hope this helps.

Proud Patriot

Please don’t think that everyone who chooses to be an educator is as blind to the truth as Mr. Swindell. I happen to have been a public school teacher and am currently a vice president at a college, but I also proudly served as a U.S. Air Force officer and have been a member of the NRA for many years–and I believe Mr. Swindell is absolutely wrong!

Stew

I wonder how it would play out if the good professor’s dream ever came true, and someone actually ordered the “M1A Abrams tanks, supported by F22 Raptor squadrons with Hellfire missiles” to fire on law abiding citizens exercising their Constitutional rights? I very distinctly remember swearing an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Dickcheese doesn’t have a firm grasp on reality. I’d be more likely to open fire on the individual giving that order than anybody with an “RPG” or scary assault rifle under the sway of the evil NRA. Or, since this sperm burper is probably unarmed, maybe we could just save our ammunition, beat the ever-loving shit out of him, and call it a day.

68W58

Proud Patriot-maybe not, but it’s pretty clear that the academy does not value diversity of thought so much as they do other, more superficial, forms of diversity.

http://reason.com/blog/2012/10/03/liberals-admit-to-discriminating-against

3 out of 1000 social psychologists in one study were conservative?!? That indicates a distressing intellectual conformity in academia-one would almost think that lefties cannot stand to have their ideas exposed to scrutiny or to defend them on their merits.

Ex-PH2

I like this, at the end of that article: “Conservatives stay quiet (or stay out of academic psychology altogether) because they don’t want the thundering herd of independent minds to stampede their careers into the dust.”

In the past few years, I have found fewer and fewer people who labeled themselves ‘liberal’ who were willing to listen to, or even discuss something with, anyone who said he was a ‘conservative’.

Mr. Swindell is so soaked in fear of anyone who doesn’t think the way he does, it must keep him awake at night.

ANCCPT

You know, this theme of using military force to suppress a population keeps popping up in certain mindset people. It usually goes like this:
P2a: Private ownership of firearms is a constitutionally secured right that allows people a final check on the power of government.
A2a: Oh, really? So you and your stupid little black gun are going to hold out against the US Army, with tanks, missiles,, RPG’s bombs and nukes? Yeah. You’ll get stomped and then we can have a peaceful, disarmed society.
P2a: This makes several assumptions. One that the US Armed forces would even fire on civilians. (I wouldn’t. Put me against a wall, or string me up, civilians are civilians. I’d die or go to jail first) Second, you forget just how heavily armed this country is. There are at low end estimated over 300 million privately owned forearms that the gov KNOWS about. Now, there are about 70 million military aged adults in this country…The total of the US Armed forces is about 1.5 million, with about another 800k or so in reserve. Lets call it 2.5 million. Assume they all follow the orders of the government, no questions asked. Now, some of those are pretty well trained, infantry, cav,mp’s, sf, ect. But most of em are truckers, mechanics, medics, admin, ammo handlers, non combat types. Now take your force of 80% non combat jobs and put them into an urban environment with ferociously hostile population, with a shitload of guns and military veterans. It would be bloody, and the US Armed forces would take a shitload of people with them, but in the end of the day, those 70 million angry, armed military aged people could walk in with a ROCK IN EITHER HAND AND BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF ALL OF THEM, DESPITE THEIR WEAPONS AND TRAINING. Thank you for playing military ‘what if’. No go back to talking about mens fashion, and how attractive President Obama is in a tuxedo.
A2a: Racist.

Ex-PH2

Oh, yeah, — critiquing Swindell’s writing style wasn’t my original intent, but since I read his op-ed, now it is.

A – he can’t spell. Cretin, in case you are reading this, Swindell, is spelled C-R-E-T-I-N. NOT CRETAN. A Cretan is someone who lives on the island of Crete. Got that?

B – Run on sentences and sentence fragments are inappropriate in any literary publication, including op-ed pieces, and you have include far more of that semi-literate twaddle thatn you should have, if you want anyone with live brain cells to take you seriously.

C – Foaming at the mouth with hatred is not a sign of a reasoning mind. Suggesting, or even mildly recommending, that people in the general population who are members of a specific organization should be executed by munitions of any sort on the orders of their government, or even at your whim as specifiec in your article, smacks loudly of sheer, unadulterated hatred of people who aren’t afraid of you.

D – I see how little tolerance you have for other people’s opinions in the Comments section, as does everyone else who reads that article. Guess what, Swindell? This blog reaches more people than your newspaper, which gives me an opportunity to tell everyone who reads it here that you’re an asshole. Oh yeah, you really DO need to spend some serious time with a qualified therapist, getting over your lickspittle fear of free people like me.

I feel much better now. 🙂

NHSparky

It never ceases to amaze me how the people who call for the most violent actions against those with whom they disagree are almost universally the least capable of actually nutting up and doing what they fucking called for.

And for that, Mr. Swindell, thanks for proving my point. Dickwad. Have fun in that job search you’ll be beginning soon.

streetsweeper

This isn’t his first time of writing an opinion hit piece. But, for now I’d settle for bitch slapping him around and reminding him whom it is that protects his lily white ass right to his freedom of speech. Check out his “Tea party Hates…” article too. That cat has been caged up in his little square academic cage a bit too long, lmao!

NHSparky

This guy is in academia because McDonald’s got tired of his shit.

Mike

I love when they say a bunch of backwoods rednecks with “assault rifles” and such can’t stand up to the worlds most powerful military. Can we send this guy to Afghanistan and Vietnam to explain that to those people?

He might want to remember that the military votes more conservative than liberal and a hefty number of the bases full of all that equipment he wants to use are in red states surrounded by those NRA types he hates and staffed by people just like them.

I’m not advocating starting a new American Revolution with our firearms, I believe we have a system that’s way short of being stretched to the limit yet. But the fact is, I like to know that if the people in power ever want to push that limit, they have to live with the knowledge that this country has roughly 300 million firearms not in the hands of the government and if one in 50 of them get in a kill shot in a revolution, then the military will run out of people.

These guys don’t have the intestinal fortitude to stay the course in Iraq and Afghanistan and they think they can deal with that?

Ex-PH2

Just a rhetorical question: What makes this imbecile think that the military would obey an order to turn on the general population in the first place?

And how would conservatives be separated from liberals?

Fen

Dear Christopher Swindell,
The reason we have the right to bear arms is to defend ourselves from Little Eichmanns like yourself. Pray that we don’t feel the need to adopt a pre-emptive doctrine.

A_Proud_Infidel

Christopher Swindell, if you’re THAT fed up with this Country, I heartily suggest that you emigrate to Cuba or North Korea, enjoy life there once you do!!

Frankly Opinionated

Christopher Swindell, (Goooooooogle hit), is as messed up in the head as that Sleazy bitch that said:
“For the first time in my life, I am proud of my country.”
What a tool. Caused me to think of the dipshit Ward Churchill, who COB6 and I used as our personal whipping boy a few years back.
Nothing in this post to cause me to compare it with the dopes on ropes: Paul Wickre n Phillip Dale Monkress. (Whoopdeedoo, another Gooooooooooooooooooooooogle hit on those two knobknockers.).

OldSargeUSAR

“Professor” = progressive = liberal = socialist = asshat… That’s all I need to know about where this ghey-boy comes from.
Christopher Swindell – You suck. (Google hit!)

MAMike

Professor Swindell is welcome to attempt to personally seize my firearms any time he wishes. I suspect that he’d shit his pants if he met anyone in this Forum.

Talk is cheap, Swindell. Let’s dance!

NHSparky

Judging by the comments he made after the article he wrote, he’s 1–not very bright, 2–is unfamiliar with the hole/stop digging concept.

Another example of one who can be well-educated but dumber than a post.

streetsweeper

Sparky, You need to get back to your Texas roots and stop insulting posts. They have plenty of good uses, mostly holding electrical, telephone and fence wires in place. You know distribute electricity, telephone services in urban/rural settings? Posts are useful they even help keep livestock from roaming, stuff like that. And, you can tie your horse/mule/donkey/jackass up to one and unless some rustler takes it, it would be there when you went back to get on it.

Howevee this mofo uhhhhhh….would be pond scum or whale shit on the ocen floor. OR, useless as teets on a boar!

streetsweeper

Christopher Swindell (Google hit!) How on Gods green Earth did you survive the birth process anyway?

CI Roller Dude

Hoplophobia is a neologism, originally coined to describe an “irrational aversion to weapons, as opposed to justified apprehension about those who may wield them.”[1] It is sometimes used more generally to describe the “fear of weapons”[2][3] or the “highly salient danger of these weapons” [4] or the “fear of armed citizens.”[5]

Ex-PH2

This is interesting. Some quotes from Christopher Swindell (google hit!!) Michael (DeHart), as I don’t know you, I won’t stoop to your BS. But, here it is. I advocate peaceful means of solving differences. And your threat is so far out of line you need investigating. How dare you threaten me? From me to you here’s a road map to the Hell we all want people like you to go to. N.B.: There was NO threat by DeHart toward Swindell, he simply said Swindell’s permit should be revoked and his weapons confiscated for inciting violence against American citizens. Brian (Nelson), I don’t know you so I won’t judge. What we teach in journalism school is objectivity and fact. What I do on the opinion page of the Gazette is different and you know it. Unless you don’t know that the opinion page is different, and that would be a bigger concern. N.B.: There is NO objectivity demonstrated in Swindell’s article or in his responses to the comments posted thereafter. This is Brian’s response: No, it’s not different. Even when issuing an opinion, a journalist does so without the level of outrageous hateful tripe you just spewed in that article. Anyone who sees that knows that this is what informs your writing. Not fact, not objectivity. Noone who could write this article, in this manner, threatening law abiding citizens with military force for believing in the Constitution, could possibly write an objective article on gun control, just for example. Matt Roberts: Their “assault arsenal and RPG’s”…… Talk about lies and fabrications. This article is such a bastion of misinformation and lies the writer should face a firing squad. I’ll bring my RPG. Swindell: Matt do you realize what you’re saying? Je-s man. And you think I’m the problem? This message is enough to get a restraining order? All I’m saying is people who stock such munitions against an imagined threat are the real danger. Now, I see I need to add you. N.B.: Apparently, Swindell does not know that owning munitions like RPG’s is illegal. The paranoia is palpable. Also, he… Read more »

A_Proud_Infidel

Just like Phillip Dale Monkress and Paul Wickre (GOOGLE HIT)!! Christopher Swindell is SO STUPID, he’d take the #5 bus twice to make up for missing the #10, then he’d blame TAH for not getting where he wanted to go and threaten to sue!!

TMB

FYI, I just Googled “christopher swindell” and this discussion came up 3rd on the list.

Old Trooper

While I applaud Swindell for being brave (or stupid) enough to make that statement in WV, I have a few observations that I would like to share.

1) As is the norm with these leftist tools; he talks about others taking action on his behalf, while he sips on his double non-fat soy latte and espouses his bullshit to the rest of the double non-fat soy latte crowd.

2) The group he is counting on to take action is comprised of people who are more likely to be on our side than his.

3) His statement that the NRA president is calling for armed rebellion against the government shows that he has no idea that the Constitution has more than the 1st Amendment and that the 2nd Amendment covers several things including, but not limited to, defending against a tyrannical government.

4) That he is just another academic babbling on without having any real world experience is about as cliché as you can get these days.

As one of the members of the HHC says often: Bring it, bitches.

NHSparky

Final memo from me to Swindell:

“From my cold dead hands, motherfucker.”

USMCE8Ret

@30 – You wrote: “And how would conservatives be separated from liberals?”

If you’re asking how you’d be able to tell the difference, the liberals would be holed up in their homes, shuddering in panic in the fetal position, wondering what will become of them.

ComancheDoc

I tried to read the comments over there but I couldn’t stop laughing at how outgunned that dude is.

Ex-PH2

@45 – USMC8R, well, I think conservatives would also be holed up in their homes, watching it all on TV.

Valkyrie

So let me see if I’ve got this right. If you join NRA you get an RPG and get to drive a tank!? Cool, sign me up!

Butch

This normally peaceful jelly donut inhaling sack of shit is willing to answer the call to defend this country?

I guess he thinks creating spittle-flecked screeds proposing the death of those who have thegall todisagree with him and expecting other jackbooted thugs to do his dirty work constitutes answering the call.
