Gunzrunner and Flagwaver sent us this video;
It’s been cloudy and sprinkling all day since sun-up here in the Metro DC area, you’d think someone would have thought to put a tarp up if the President and the Turkish Prime Minister were going to have a press conference outside today. But then, they had umbrellas ready for the Marines to hold, so I guess that was their plan all along. I don’t know about the Marine Corps, but when I left the Army, umbrellas weren’t authorized while a man was in uniform (I think women could carry an umbrella, though).
Regardless, it just doesn’t look good to me, but maybe that’s me and I’m sure someone is going to tell me I’m nitpicking, but this is an opinion blog and that’s my opinion.
ADDED: This is probably why he needs someone else to hold the umbrellas, it’s a pretty complicated operation, ya know;

The CIC has no understanding of what it takes to be a Marine.
That’s insulting.
Obama is an America hater. Therefore, it stands to reason that he would have no problem at all humiliating the Marines, or any other branch of service. That doesn’t make him any less the piece-of-shit sock puppet we all know he is.
On a more positive note, when I first saw pictures from a distance the position of the Marines’ hands not holding the umbrellas,coupled with their white belts looked like they were giving giant fingers to Obama and the Prime Minister. 🙂

I cannot conceive why the hell those Marines degraded themselves to that degree. They should have pointblank REFUSED the humiliation, not only to themselves personally, but most of all to the uniform and what it represents. Or, should I say what it USED to represent. But since the leadership (old “Betrayus” – the lefties never knew how right they were! – and the other brass SOBs) has allowed these AHs to totally gut the military’s right to defend themselves on the battlefield, have opened the doors to a total takeover by the gay lobby of the military, why should we be surprised at this additional mark of complete disrespect?? How much longer are we- and most of all our men in uniform- are going to stand for this?? BTW, have ANY military leaders gone on record to protest this? Course not. Gotta defend those pensions!
As a former active duty Marine. That was an unlawful order. I am torn if I should respect that Marines decision to hold that umbrella. The proper response should have been. Sir, I am sorry Sir. But I can not follow that order Sir. Salute and turn and return to post.

@120 I don’t give a shit who the POTUS is, it is wrong to have a Marine/Soldier hold an umbrella. There are aides and staffers falling all over themselves to kiss ass who could do that job. Don’t know if you served in the military but for those of us who did it is wrong, against Regs and inappropriate of anyone, President, military officer or whomever to ask this of a serviceman. So if that makes me a tough guy acting like an ass hole (your words)…then at least I hope I stand up to inspection doing it!
