More on Mario Wilson
We discussed Mario Wilson the other day when he confronted a gunman at Denny’s in Indiana. WBIR10 talks with Don Fitzgibbon who met Wilson when Fitzgibbon lost his own son in Afghanistan;
Casualty assistance officers typically finish their duty to families after a few months. But Mr. Wilson and Mr. Fitzgibbon kept up their connection for the last three-and-a-half years. They talked two to three times a month, shared holidays together, and spoke a few days before Mr. Wilson was killed.
“I feel like I’ve lost another child,” said Mr. Fitzgibbon.
Thanks to MCPO Ret. in TN who made me weep like a baby this morning.

Damn! It’s dusty in here again.
Damn it. Just damn it.
Yah, dammit….
Tears…
I have spent most of my career seeing the evil dark side of mankind. It has made me into a cynic who expects the worst out of people. Stories like this help me remember that the world is full of good people and maybe I should lighten up a little. Thank God for people Like Mario Wilson. Gone too soon, we are diminished.
It’s Friday, it’s snowing out (yeah, I know, it’s May 3rd, but mother nature forgot to flip her calendar), and then I watch this video. It sucks that someone that meant a lot to many people, who touched the lives of so many, was taken too early by some scum sucking POS who was butthurt about something. A soldier to the end, protecting others from harm.
Amazing man indeed. He will be remembered.
Sad, very sad.
It is better to know not that men like this have died, but that they have lived.
This video is one that I would hope a Dad or Mom here would gather the family together to watch this evening or this weekend. It is one that I would hope a teacher here would play for a class or two next week. It is the essence of love, respect, and honor.
After reading this story, watching the video and re-reading the original post about the Denny’s murder of Mr. Wilson – – I sat and thought DAMN, how sad……..
Seems like we all feel the same.
