Purdue holds anti-racism march after racial incident that wasn’t

| April 22, 2013

Heard one of the morons associated with this march on the way home, and just had to post it. First, the march:

More than 200 members of Purdue University’s student body, staff and faculty marched today in protest of racially charged vandalism and inequality at the university.

Shortly before noon, a long line of people snaked out of the Black Cultural Center. Many in the group held signs carrying messages that read “An Injury to One is an Injury to All,” or “If not now Mitch, when?” referring to Purdue President Mitch Daniels.

The crowd — some black, some white, some Asian, some women, some men, some young, some older — made its way down Third Street to the Memorial Mall, then to the steps of Hovde Hall, the building that houses the offices of Purdue’s top administrators.

The march started quietly. And then came the chants, made up of loud and varied screams.

“Tell me what diversity looks like!” “This is what diversity looks like!” “The people are the power!”

What had them so fired up? Was it a Klan rally? A lynching? Rap Music? Nope.

Just before 1 p.m. today, Purdue’s University News Service released a statement saying the incident that triggered the demonstration was not an intentional act of vandalism but an unintentional transfer of words from a sticky note during an educational seminar.

After conducting interviews with various users of the room at the center, police found that an instructor conducting an interactive seminar wrote the words on a large sticky note attached to the mirror during a discussion.

If racism is so damn rampant on campus, why have the march in relation to an incident that isn’t even racial?

Kind of undermines the whole thing, no?

Just more kids who lament that they weren’t around when it was actually dangerous to point our racism. Instead, they just invent shit out of thin air.

One regularly has to bring the troops to fever pitch or they will lose faith.

These progtards thinking that there exists a monolithic “black culture,” and that that majikal unicorn deserves its own “center” is magnitudes more racist than anything that I could even imagine dreaming up. American black culture is largely an atrophied and failed experiment of liberal ideology, as detailed by Thomas Sowell in numerous books. Blacks that arrive here from other places–the Caribbean, for example–have nothing in common with American blacks, other than skin pigmentation. Statistically, immigrants that reject the hip-hop/entitlement/black culture flourish and become productive members of society.

Back on topic, having a “black cultural center” is as inane as having a “white cultural center.” Neither makes any rational sense, except for pandering to progtard leftists that are incurious and semi-literate.

It seems that a lot of these kids are really bitter that they missed out on the Civil Rights movement.

Forget about just a Time Machine, why not a “Time and place Machine” instead? Transport these pukes to, say, Jackson, Mississippi or Birmingham, Alabama for a two week period in the 1920’s. Hey, it’s fun to daydream sometimes!

Well, look at it this way, the folks got some fresh air and some exercise. In the late 60s, college twerps used to taje over university offices. They would start out as ‘sit-ins’ and turn into shit-ins.

2/17 Air Cav

Hey, maybe they should have joined forces with the Duke professors and students who destroyed a lacrosse coach and his team for a crime that never occurred.

OWB

Certainly glad that Purdue is not my alma matre.

ComancheDoc

Were the words racist? I’m lost…

A_Proud_Infidel

Today’s college pukes, I remember seeing the “Occupy” fleabags basically demanding everything to be handed to them because they’d spent six or seven years getting their degrees in fields like Gender Studies, Art History, etc., and to them, that meant that they were automatically entitled to a six figure salary and keys to the Executive Washroom! Now we have crap like this….

Purdue “Keeping Ugly Girls Out of IU since 1869.”

@8. The words were “white supremacy” and were reported as having been written on a mirror in the school’s Black Student Union. Wrong. “After conducting interviews with various users of the room at the center, police found that an instructor conducting an interactive seminar wrote the words on a large sticky note attached to the mirror during a discussion.” The pics accompanying the story are a hoot. I think no Asians were invited–or cared to attend.

What do we want?

We don’t know!

When do we want it?

NOW!

Ex-PH2

Until the century turned, I never knew what real racism was or where it came from.

Zedechek

That’s a shame, not a looker in the bunch.

A_Proud_Infidel

Let ’em call ME a “racist”, and I’ll just tell them to SUE ME, and if they get anything, I’ll split it with ’em. (HEY, mighty liberal of me, ain’t it?)

UpNorth

@#10, Purdue, keeping ugly girls out of all Big 10 schools since 1869.

Hack Stone

Members of the group shouted a list of demands compiled by Purdue’s Anti-Racism Coalition. For one, they said, Daniels should “articulate a zero-tolerance stance against all racist acts.” They also requested doubling the number of minority faculty and students over the next 10 years and requiring an undergraduate course on race and racism. Translation: Any slight against a recognized minority, whether real or imagined, will result in the offender to brought before a tribunal consisting a co-ed going through a butch lesbian phase; a sixth year liberal arts major; and an exchange student from a country that may or may not currently exist due to on-going tribal warfare. Recognized minorities include members of the LBGT community, African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Asian-Americans, Democratic party members, Green party members, Tupperware party members, hemophiliacs, kleptomaniacs, pyromaniacs, Pagans, Druids, Atheists, asthmatics, spasmatics and/or schematics. Minorities do not include Republican party members, NRA members, military veterans, European-Americans, or American-Americans. Provost Tim Sands watched the demonstration from the sidelines. When the crowd called his name, he walked up to the first step of Hovde and addressed the people. “We are not an inclusive environment,” said Sands. “We have not figured that out yet … I’m really excited to see this momentum building. I’m sorry it’s based on the fact that Purdue is not yet a psychologically safe place to study for many people. It is for some but not for everyone.” Translation: We have not figured out what we should be pissed off about, but we haven’t had any demonstrations since Occupy Wall Street collapsed. Purdue is not yet a psychologically safe place to study, but it could be with the right chemical prescriptions. “According to the investigating authorities, this was not the intentional act it first appeared to be; but regardless, it presents an opportunity to reaffirm our common commitment to a Purdue environment that is completely respectful of all and not accepting of behavior that falls short of that standard.” Translation: You are all bunch of a pompous rich assholes, but if I called you out on it, I would never get you out of my… Read more »

Another shining example of American youth that will blindly follow whatever rhetoric they hear, whether its true or not.

What we witness in stories like this are the new brand of “sheeple” who will spend their lifetimes nurturing their mamby-pamby feelings and try to force their social experiments and opinions down our throats later.

Fuckers.

OWB

Egads it was boring back in the day! The only campus demonstration I participated in was one where we asked that the dorm hours be extended. Of course, we demonstrated at night, and most of us were signed out for late hours at the time.

Yeah – there used to be curfews in our single gender dorms. Yeah – we had to sign out and sign into the dorm after dark, with our destinations noted. It must have worked pretty well because we didn’t have assaults and such. And the term date rape had not been invented. We did have some unplanned pregnacies because the willing managed to find ways.

And we had students of all sorts of interesting racial, ethnic and national backgrounds. Nobody cared one way or the other except that it was fascinating to learn to about each other. And to share the cultures.

UpNorth

OWB, back when I went to Central Michigan, the “demonstrations” were called panty raids. And, we had dorm hours too. That’s why everyone moved off campus as soon as they could.
@#17, nice job, you nailed what was said, and what was meant very well.

Ex-PH2

You know, my tolerance level is really taking a pounding this month. This year. Maybe even this decade.

Astronomers found two more Earth-type planets not too far away, a mere 1500 light years. I want to move all these pinheads there, off my front lawn. They’re pissing me off.

USMCE8Ret

It’ll be alright Ex-PH2. We’re here for each other.

Ex-PH2

Thanks! I appreciate it.

Great. My alma mater rarely gets in the news, but for stupid crap like this. The last time I remember it being in the news was when Cindy Sheehan was invited to speak there by the Political Science club or some such.

Very glad that I went there 1994-1999 and was in Mechanical Engineering, so I really had no interaction with any political activists. Granted, I was a political ignoramus back then and didn’t follow politics at all (only started paying attention to politics after 9/11), so I probably wouldn’t have even known political activism if it was going on. Even then, as an engineering student, there was no time to pay attention to anything else anyway!

Michael in MI

Oh and the only time Purdue was in the news when I was attending was my sophomore year when some druggie asshole was busted by his RA, went home to Indianapolis during the day to get his father’s shotgun, came back to campus and confronted his RA in the RA’s room, shot and killed the RA, then holed himself up in his room across the hall.

I came back from class that afternoon and they were in the process of evacuating the two residence halls (Tarkington Hall, where I stayed, and Wiley Hall, right next door where the guy was holed up). We had SWAT show up, news media from Indianapolis and Chicago and police galore.

We had to wait until SWAT had evacuated all the buildings and then worked to rescue those on the same floor as the druggie student. Once they finally had done that, they stormed the room and found him dead. Whole situation lasted probably 4-5 hours.

Only other incident I remember happening where Purdue got ‘publicity’ was when a Sorority decided to rent a luxury bus and travel around campus to the fraternity houses and trashing them and then running. Entire sorority got busted for that as well as for vandalizing cars outside the houses. Turns out that they didn’t just vandalize frat guys’ cars, but also those of residents of West Lafayette who lived near the houses. Brilliant.

So great to read that Purdue is keeping up with its great tradition of getting in the news for stupid crap…

ItAllFades

College kids never have anything better to do.

NHSparky

Fades–you’d think, but then again, this IS Purdue, where anyone in the Engineering Department or majoring in same has to have their shit on the ball.

It amazes me how many “racial” incidents we’ve heard/seen on college campuses in the last couple of decades, only to find out most of them were bullshit.

If racism is so rampant, why do people have to go making it up?

obsidian

I thought these people went to this school for an education?
All they seem to do is search diligently for racism against blacks at the expense of all else! Even mistaken events of racism.
Isn’t having an organization or cultural center that celebrates just one race above all others in itself racism?
If say someone wrote Black supremacy in the White cultural center on the mirror would that also be a racist act?
NO, because, There ARE NO white cultural centers because that is considered racist.
Black culture center not racist, white culture center is racist.

More Black liberal Politically correct bull crap is what this is.

docstew

And what about the marchers from the White Cultural Center? Why is the media ignoring them?

Wait, you’re telling me there isn’t a White Cultural Center? Then why is there a Black Cultural Center? Isn’t that racist in and of itself?
