Winter (soldier) is coming……. (Need a tech dude.)
I’m guessing we already have like 200 people primed for our next Stolen Valor Tournament. I still think it gets less traffic than it should. Or could. Or something.
What I am really looking for though is someone who knows something about the tech side to get it to run a little better. I kind of want to model it after the one BarstoolU uses (Not Safe for Work perhaps) although theirs isn’t actually working right now for some reason. But, ideally, a bracket like is shown, and when you click a name, it brings up their “match” and has both a picture, and about 2 paragraphs of text underneath it. And then the “choose” button.
Does any of our tech nerds know of some sort of polling software that would enable me to do that?

OT, you are grandfathered in. We’ll take volunteers, probably up to like 10. Only requirement this year is that everyone will have to seed it in Excel, because last year it was a bear for me.
No sweat, I think I did it in Excel last year so no problem…maybe you could send a template so that you have a standardized format? Might help with the time issue.

Yeah, I did my own lessons learned last time. I need to standardize the names and such too, so I can sort somewhat easier.

My Excel skillz are not “leet.” But I can figure out how to put it into the format you want if you would like me to volunteer. Either that or I can get the girlfriend to show me how.
One question. What’s software mean?
@6, single. Yeah, ideally it would bring up basically two panels, each with a picture and text, and under it buttons for each that say “Choose” and when you choose, it goes back to the main bracket with your selection picture moving on. (In a slightly differnt color to indicate it was the vote, and not the actual result. Maybe a red border or something like that.)
@4, Survey Monkey works fine. I just want something with a bit more flair. Something where the picture and the bio are right there so people don’t need to go back and look at the bio again.
How much more flair? Like 37 pieces of flair, or just the minimum of 15? You know, the Nazis had pieces of flair they made the Jews wear….

This is the third time they’ve made me do MG quarterlies this year, and I told them if they make me do them again, I’m going to set the HPAC’s on fire…but then again, I was an RO, so what do I know about MG’s other than how to break them?

@10 Can be done, give me today and I’ll write it up and put it on my webpage and you guys tell me if it works or not, I presume we also want an admin interface to be able to load the contestants? (I mean we want to reuse this I presume?)

Ok guys, Im working on it today, if you guys are bored enough go visit stolenvalor.us and I’ll be making the changes there, Jonn, TSO, Hondo contact me later today and I’ll give you administrator credentials so you can setup the tournaments and all and the perky requests, design is not my strong point (I make a living finding bugs 😛 not making things pretty :P) same is if you want to leave the tournament there is fine I don’t do anything with that domain at all i had it parked for months if you want to host I’ll just zip the code, dump the database and help you guys setup in any server you want.
