The Silence of the Shams
We have an entire industry in this country that is nothing more than a sham, pretending to be one thing while in fact, being something utterly different. That industry is, of course, the liberal media, who daily vow to bring you all the news while in fact sifting the worth of any story through a liberal sieve that has been perfected to block the passage of any story that might reflect well on the conservative view. A glaring example has come to be in the past week.
Remember a little more than a year ago when a tattooed black thug, whose claim to thuggery, well documented by his own words and photographic submissions to the social media websites, was shot dead by a neighborhood watch volunteer in a confrontation that drew and held the liberal media in thrall for weeks. Every outraged broadcast perpetuating the liberal myth that an innocent young black child had been murdered by a white racist was accompanied by a photo of the black thug when he was still a bright, smiling innocent of approximately twelve years of age. The Hispanic who killed him fared worse: his photographic introduction to the world was a post-arrest mug shot.
Even though the web media quickly surfaced an accurate depiction of both, the liberal media refused to replace their images with those that more correctly depicted the two participants because it didn’t fit their narrative of evil white man guns down innocent black youth. To hell with reality, this is the story we’re pushing so we’ll use the pics that carry our story line. Recall the outrage, the crusading black rabble-rousers who quickly flew to the scene so as to be seen. Recall the illegal offers of a bounty on the head of the defendant by a militant black organization.
OK, surely you have the picture by now. Let us then compare and contrast those events with last week’s vicious shooting down in coastal Georgia of a white infant in its stroller by an angry, young, black thug who accosted the infant’s mother in a failed robbery attempt. Frustrated that the baby’s mother had no money on her person, this brute, frustrated that he’d been so stupid as to pick such an unlikely target, casually and vindictively shot her tiny baby in the face, snuffing out the fledgling existence of a totally, helpless innocent.
Here’s your challenge: Google that incident using any number of search terms and see how many network news reports you turn up. Unlike the non-stop, hand-wringing anguish over the death of that poor innocent black child in Florida, the senselessly savage execution of a truly helpless innocent at the hands of a surly black thug isn’t newsworthy in the new politically-correct America. Here we have a horrific crime that, should the races be reversed, would be dominating the network airways. Yet most of America hasn’t even heard of this abominable act.
That, folks, is because a bunch of liberal network producers in New York and Los Angeles don’t want you to hear any news that does not support their liberal narrative. White on black homicide fits their views thus it’s news. Black killing white gets no light. Think about that: in every single day that passes, these few liberal overlords decide what you shall hear. And if any news event does not support their leftist agenda, you are assured of not hearing about it. To call themselves news networks is the most laughable lie one can imagine. Wait, listen, can’t you just hear it?

Don’t think for a minute that liberal media collusion isn’t rampant. Ezra Klein shut down Journolist, but only after it became public, and shutting it down doesn’t mean the planning ended. It just went elsewhere.
It just makes my skin crawl that reporting is so skewed by the skin color of the participants. It matters not whether the thugs or the victims are from Mars, they are thugs and victims. The thugs need to be prosecuted. The victims need to be treated as victims, not criminals. There are no excuses for criminal behavior.
Situational ethics? It is disgusting no matter who is practicing it and no matter toward whom it is directed.

I live in SC, just an hour and a half or so away from there and it took me reading a story on another site to even hear about this incident. The local NAACP leaders and other local black leaders have been overheard to say they still think it was a “Susan Smith type” deal. Even less in the news though was that the mother and aunt I believe it was were arrested for helping dispose of the evidence.
To be fair, the purpose of the news industry is to report the unusual. They don’t run an article/segement when a plane lands safely. That is a common occurance. So, by extension, black on white crime happens everyday. Not the least bit unusual. Now, when there is white on black crime, you genuinely have something that you don’t see every day.

I won’t delve too far into the racial aspects of these crimes. I will say, though, that even Equal Opportunity (EO) Leaders and EO Advisors have drank the Kool-Aid on the Trayvon Martin case. Our EO Leader used the case as an example of “racism” during her last EO class. An pending court case for a controversial plan is not my idea of good material to discuss during EO training. IMO, she should have been relieved from her duties on the spot.
An EOA-qualified senior NCO has been bringing this case up quite a bit recently. I guess that speculation and preliminary assumptions of guilt are taught to all EO types… or something.
I listen to WSB online (previously for Boortz and now Herman Cain) so was aware of the story from the get go, including arrests of family members for impeding an investigation. There’s even an update this morning. Of course, down there it’s local news and I haven’t bothered checking with the “bigs”. WSB seems to be pretty even handed and gave the school cheating scandal good coverage when that story broke.

I also found quite a few links for articles about if from the MSM. But certainly not the “hand-wringing” and outrage that accompanied the Travon Martin case. You would think the horror of someone casually shooting a baby in the face would have dominated the news, being just the sensational story the media thrives on.
Today’s liberal snooze media operates under the motto ” All the news we see fit for you to hear, and what you should think about it, peasants!”. After serving overseas, I can barely stomach anything the AP says about the goings-on over there. Most of today’s ” reporters” ought to be Fiction Writers instead, given the way they hype, skew, and bias their stories!!
Down here at fort benning, due to proximity, it has been running on all local news channels often. Not sure about national coverage though. Local folks are all over it. They are also all over the new Banjangles restaraunt opening up too, so not sure if thats a great gauge or not…
Locally the story is getting coverage. The latest person to be charged happens to be the Mayor Pro Tem, a current city council member who is charged with influencing a witness and obstruction of an investigation. The black community has certainly rallied around these 2 murderers (alleged)and just points to a bigger issue in the African American culture. Similar stories were told in the case of that psycho killer in California.
Still none of the coverage rivals that of the Trayvon Martin case. Hell even VW is poking fun at the Lamestream Media nowadays in their commercials.
For those of you reporting no problems in finding links, note that your challenge was “network news reports.” The low information voter segment of society gets almost all its news from those broadcast sources. They don’t read newspapers and many of them don’t use computers for anything other than gaming and porn.
That is why this double standard is so dangerous: it further misinforms the already misinformed, who are truly low information voters. Yet their vote counts just as much as yours and mine.

The fact that a white-on-black killing garners out of proportion news coverage is indicative of the left wingsaturation of the media. The left NEEDS those kinds of murders to justify it’s worldview and policies. The black on white crime rate is ATROCIOUS and should be talked about DAILY. The ONLY standards the left has are DOUBLE standards. Why does the media insist on using it’s reach to warn against white racism when black racism is far more prevalent, and deadly?
Here’s another example of how things work:
On the evening of May 1, 2010, a Pakistani immigrant named Faisal Shahzad attempted to set off an IED in the middle of Manhattan. For approximately the next 72 hours, every other major news story was shoved aside in an effort to feed the hysteria surrounding the Times Square bomber. No one was injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, that very same weekend, 21 people died when the Tennessee River flooded in Nashville, an event barely mentioned by the press except at a local level.
It might be pointed out that such bias has existed for a long time; what’s changed in the past decade or so is that it has gotten more pronounced as business models for local news have failed, and it’s become harder for the local level to act as a watchdog on the press at a national level.
What should also be mentioned here is that there is currently a huge fight, at the sort of journalists-watching-journalists meta level, going on within the media itself about the longer-term implications of some of this. One concern, for example, is that as print media has failed, it has allowed television media to win by default. There are those who would argue that TV news is now not at all in the news business; it’s in the entertainment business.
Broad strokes, high drama, screaming polemics.
