Senate’s gun control bill expands background checks

| March 23, 2013

I read the Senate’s bill yesterday, but I’ll be darned if I can find it again. The most odious part of the bill is expanding background checks to private sales. Well, that and it mandates a record of those private transfers – that’s got Chuckie Schumer’s fingerprints on it, because he’s admitted in the past that background checks will lead to universal registration. From the Associated Press;

Reid said that during Congress’ upcoming two-week break, he hopes senators will strike a bipartisan compromise on broadening background checks. Without a deal, he indicated the gun bill would include a stricter version approved this month by the Senate Judiciary Committee and authored by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., expanding the system to virtually all private gun transactions with few exceptions.

“I want to be clear: In order to be effective, any bill that passes the Senate must include background checks,” Reid said in a written statement.

It also establishes a fee for whoever is going to end up doing the background checks, it’s not clear in the bill who that will be, although it hints that it will be through licensed dealers.

But, I’m sure the criminals will all completely conform to the new law, because they always do. There won’t be any more alleyway sales of guns because the criminals will be just as eager to go to a dealer or the police to complete their background checks. By the way the bill also outlines the repercussions for folks who have a gun stolen and don’t report it within 24 hours.

You’ll be happy to know that you can pass your gun to your kids when you pass as long as it’s in your will or a trust. You’ll also be able to loan your gun to someone as long as you know they’re cool, and you can give one to your spouse without a background check as long as you know that spouse is otherwise eligible. I can’t because my wife isn’t a US citizen, so….

I bet every criminal in America is crapping in their pants now. Gang members will probably disband and say what are we going to now? Just this list alone will strike terror into any would be criminal or gang banger.

Rob

Of course it does, would you expect them to stop trying to cram this bullshit down our throats?

Here’s the text of the background check bill…

And no, you can’t “loan your gun to someone as long as you know they’re cool” unless they don’t leave your home with it or conform to other very narrowly defined exceptions. As for that fee for whoever does the background checks, from my reading it looks like it sets a maximum fee. If you can’t find a FFL dealer who thinks it’s worth his time to run a check for a product that he’s not selling, for the amount that the feds say he can charge, you can’t sell a gun.

All the gun grabbers have to do is change the name of the legislation. Just like the Violence Against Women Act had nothing to do with preventing violence against women, change the gun-grabbing law the Violence Against Children Act… and the GOP will perform gymnastics worthy of the Cirque du Soleil to support the law, and never bring it up ever again in election campaigns.

Sooner or later we’ll all be criminals and they’ll just simply enforce on undesirables.

#5: if you are male, according to VAWA, you are a criminal.

I haven’t read the bill yet, but what provisions does it have for criminals who currently possess stolen or otherwise illegal firearms?

It probably doesn’t exist, I suppose because it’s already a law. It’s just a law they’re not enforcing, so making it more difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain one.

Criminals = 1 Citizens = 0

A Proud Infidel

HEY, let’s pass a law against felons or the mentally ill possessing firearms or ammo,*OOP!* hey, that HAS already been done, but criminals STILL carry guns. I don’t know how many times I’ve looked through mugshots and seen “Felon in possession of firearm or ammo”. How about the boxes full of Gun Control laws that were already violated in these mass shootings especially the possession of guns and ammo in a “Gun-Free Zone” something that needs to be banned!

Yeah, I can see all the gang bangers in south and west Phoenix lining up to register their illegally purchased weapons and submitting their felonious a$$es for back ground checks. Uh huh, I’m gonna sit here with my Coors Light and Gentleman Jack and wait for the line to start forming. Better yet, I’m gonna go down to the 620, P.D. HQ here in Phoenix, and see how many criminals turn in firearms they know they shouldn’t have. Either way I better have LOTS of beer and Jack ’cause I’m gonna be here a while!

Common Sense

Welcome to Colorado! We’re now all busy with lawsuits and recalls because of the new laws here. My husband and I attended the recall meeting for our state senator the biotch Evie Hudak. There were almost 100 people there which is pretty good for word of mouth via Facebook and a gun show flyer and only 3 days.

Unfortunately, the background check fee law here started the day after Chickenlooper signed it, the rest take affect on July 1st.

The good news is that Wyoming is 1.5 hours away which is where I’ll be gun shopping from now on. They can take their $10 and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine.

As for the national version, the House better damn well shoot it down. If there’s any bill that needs to go nowhere, it’s this one.

NHSparky

I know there are a few Dems who are hell-bent on career suicide by voting for this if it even gets to the House.

Fortunately, my moonbat Congresscritter is one of them, and I know whoever runs against her next year will take full advantage of that fact.

B Woodman

If it passes I plan on disobeying it.

So, a poll tax for exercise of the Second Amendment (and yes, it’s a f#@%ing poll tax, and it will require government ID) is O.K., but requiring a government ID for voting is against the Constitution, according to the yammerheads on MSNBC Sunday morning.

Right…..
