Phony soldier grifter in Missouri

| February 12, 2013

Someone on Facebook sent us this link to the story about Matt Buckingham or Tyler Matthews, or something who says he’s in Homeland Security, or the Marines or the Coast Guard or something. According to Chris Nagus of KMOV, none of those services have ever heard of him;

Whether it’s Tyler or Matt, his phone number is plastered on a Craigslist ad, asking women to apply to raise money for the troops at bars and restaurants. The ad promises up to $200 a night, so one of our producers responded.

He introduced himself as Tyler and went on to tell our producer about his past. Buckingham AKA Tyler said “I’m not supposed to get any attention because of my job … right now I work for homeland security … I’ve been to Afghanistan twice … Marines picked me up when I was 17 … I’m officially in the coast guard.”

It was one incredible story after another, too bad none of it’s true.

We checked with the U.S. Army, Marines, Homeland Security and the Coast Guard and they have not heard of Matt Buckingham.

But it’s part of his recruiting pitch; it’s not the first time News 4 has dealt with a member of the Buckingham family.

His father promised to give portions of the money he made in his yard-work business to the troops, but none of that money ever made it. His father also says in the video that he wouldn’t do business with his son. That family love is overwhelming.

Lowlife. I have 20X more respect for a “cow patty” in a pasture than I do for that dirtball!

NR Pax

A cow patty can fertilize grass so it’s arguably useful.

NHSparky

Looks like the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree. Atta boy–father and son dirtbags.

Mike

There’s something wrong with that guy. He sounds like a psychopath.

REAL DEAL.

1. Double hoodie jackets.
2. Old and faded jeans.
3. That bone shaking, “I’m goin’ to sue you man” threat.
4. US Army tee-shirt.
5. USMC, sniper, two Afghanistan deployments, Homeland Security, USCG to selling raffle tickets career path.

This guy is LEGIT … LOOK IT UP!

A_Proud_Infidel

NR Pax, you’re flat-out right, cow patties are actually useful, and not as smelly as dirtbags like that joker!

‘Marines picked me up when I was 17…’

And the SEALs didn’t pull him out of boot camp to go straight to Afghanistan because of the awesomeness the Marine Corps recognized?

Green Thumb

Shitbag.

FatCircles0311

Today I learned the Marines Corps kidnaps 17 year olds that fake enlistment in the Coast Guard.

Just Plain Jason

I will be sending this out to some friends in the St. Louis area…

ComancheDoc

USMCE8Ret

Sounds like some bullshit a gypsy would pull.

The Chief

Well, he has money to pay for lawyers and sue people. He sold enough raffle tickets to do this.

Hack Stone

Read the fine print. He is selling Ruffle tickets, not raffle tickets. The winner gets a bag of potato chips.
